Objectives: Musculoskeletal pain is among the most common symptoms in patients diagnosed with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and it has placed a significant burden on health worldwide during the pandemic. This study explored vaccine hesitancy and associated factors in patients with positive COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction test results who were hospitalized and had back pain. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 170 hospitalized COVID-19 patients over 18 years of age. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics with IBM SPSS ver. 25.0. Results: COVID-19 patients who were married considered COVID-19 vaccinations riskier than unmarried COVID-19 patients. Patients who had not been vaccinated expressed higher levels of distrust towards COVID-19 vaccines than patients who had been vaccinated. Participants had relatively little hesitation toward the Sinovac vaccine. High vaccine confidence was found in all participants regardless of vaccination status. Those who had not received the COVID-19 vaccine reported higher risk perceptions than those who had received at least 1 dose of any COVID-19 vaccine. Conclusion: Measurements of the hesitancy of vaccinated and non-vaccinated patients or members of society towards vaccines can be an important parameter for health authorities to find solutions. Background and Purpose: For public health, it is important to investigate vaccine hesitancy, determine populations reluctant for vaccines, and investigate barriers and facilitators for vaccination in these groups. This study aims to modify and validate the Vaccine Hesitancy Scale specific to adults in Turkish society. Methods: The study, which was designed as a methodological and survey type, was conducted using a Google questionnaire with 720 participants who met the inclusion criteria with a convenient sampling method. Results: After factor and reliability analysis, a 2-factor, 10-item scale with an acceptable and perfect range of fit index values emerged. It has been observed that individuals who are young, single, do not have children, have vaccine allergy, and do not believe that the vaccine will protect the society are adversely affected by the environment, and those who do not have COVID-19 and flu have a high level of hesitancy to vaccine. Aim: Covid-19 vaccine hesitancy can be an obstacle to the global effort to control the current pandemic. The study aimed to test the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Oxford Covid-19 Vaccine Hesitancy Scale. Design: A methodological and descriptive study. Methods: The research was conducted as a methodological and descriptive study. The sample size consisted of 476 academics who voluntarily agreed to participate in the research and completed the online questionnaire between February and March 2021. Results: As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), the fit index values obtained by making two modifications of the one-dimensional Oxford Covid-19 Vaccine Hesitancy Scale were found to be χ2/df = 1.86; AGFI = 0.96; RMSEA = 0.04; GFI = 0.98; CFI = 0.99 and IFI = 0.99. The Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient of the scale was calculated as 0.95. Test-retest reliability coefficient of the scale was r = 0.93 (p < 0.001). Conclusion: It can be concluded that the Oxford Covid-19 Vaccine Hesitancy Scale, adapted to Turkish, is a valid and reliable measurement tool for determining hesitancy of Turkish society towards covid-19 vaccines. Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of psychiatric symptoms such as anxiety, obsession, hostility, and attachment styles, which may be associated with COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy. Method: A total of 504 adult participants were included in the study. The sociodemographic data form, including questions on information about participants' COVID-19 infection history and concerns about COVID-19 vaccines, was filled out by the participants. The participants were evaluated with the anxiety, obsessive--compulsive disorder (OCD), hostility, and paranoid ideation subscales of the Symptom Checklist -- Revised 90 scale and the Adults Attachment Style Scale (AASS). The participants were divided into three groups: "vaccinated group (VG)," "nonvaccinated but intend to get vaccinated group (IGV)," and "nonvaccinated group and not intend to get vaccinated group (NIGV)." Results: The mean score of the AASS secure subscale was higher (p=0.009), while the SCL-90 anxiety subscale was lower (p=0.003) in the NIGV group. The mean score of the SCL-90 OCD subscale in the NIGV group was lower than that in the IGV group (p=0.040). Regression analysis showed that concerns about the safety of vaccines (OR: 140, p<0.001) and having secure attachment style (OR: 1.787, p=0.019) increase the intention to not be vaccinated. However, it was found that high anxiety scores decreased the intention not to be vaccinated (OR: 0.966, p=0.035). Conclusion: The findings of the current study indicate that secure attachment style and clinical psychiatric entities such as anxiety and obsession were effective on vaccine hesitancy. However, this interaction needs to be interpreted carefully in the context of the perceived level of COVID-19 threat, more detailed information about the safety and necessity of vaccines, the relationship of individuals with their social environment, and the predominance of vaccine hesitancy in their social environment. This study aims to determine the prevalence and causes of childhood vaccine and measles vaccine hesitancy and refusal among healthcare students in Turkey. The pool of this cross‐sectional study, which included 718 students, was made up of healthcare students from the Faculty of Health Sciences at Balikesir University (N = 960). It was determined that 10% of students surveyed were hesitant regarding childhood vaccines, while 11.8% were hesitant with regard to the measles vaccine, specifically. Many of the participants held the belief that chronic idiopathic diseases such as multiple sclerosis and autism are related to vaccines; they also believed that vaccines should not be mandatory. More alarming than this, however, was that in response to a question regarding the measles vaccine, many of the students responded that "I would not have my child vaccinated with the vaccines administered by the Ministry of Health if I had a child." The findings revealed, overall, that the rates of childhood vaccine hesitancy and measles vaccine hesitancy are high among the healthcare students who were surveyed and that a high number of healthcare students hold negative attitudes that are related to rates of vaccine hesitancy. Background: Vaccine hesitancy and refusal are becoming increasingly common. During the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccine refusal and vaccine hesitancy had a negative impact on vaccination campaigns in Turkey. Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the vaccine hesitancy and its reasons in Turkish society during the pandemic. Method: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted online between October 2021 and January 2022 with 502 adult individuals living in Turkey who met the inclusion criteria. Results: It was determined that %54.9 of the participants had hesitantly vaccinated, and %7.2 refused the vaccine. The mean scores on the Vaccıne Hesıtancy Scale in Pandemıcs of those who refused the vaccine (33.916±7.00) were substantially higher than those who experienced vaccine hesitancy (28.818±4.78) and those who did not (24.389±4.51) (p<0.05). It was determined that individuals aged 65 and over were vaccinated without any hesitation compared to younger participants, and the rates of vaccine rejection and refusal to be vaccinated by women, university graduates and those without chronic disease were found to be significantly higher (p<0.05). Conclusion: During the Covid-19 pandemic, individuals exhibiting vaccine hesitancy and rejection, as well as the risk factors that contribute to these circumstances, should be assessed on a regular basis. It is predicted that offering community the training by qualified nurses on the factors that lead to vaccine hesitancy and refusal will aid in increasing immunization rates and establishing community immunity in Turkish society. Objective: This study was planned to adapt the Vaccine Hesitancy Scale to Turkish and evaluate its validity and reliability. Material and Methods: This research was conducted methodologically. The sample of the study consisted of 317 individuals from the patient relatives in the waiting rooms, who have children between the ages 9-16, who applied to the Suleyman Demirel University Hospital policlinic in December 2019. A questionnaire developed by the researcher and the Vaccine Hesitancy Scale were used as data collection tools. Results: Explanatory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis methods were used to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Vaccine Hesitancy Scale. In the Vaccine Hesitancy Scale, the Kaiser-Mayer-Olkin coefficient was 0.897 and the Bartlett test's chi-square value was 1319.67 and the result was significant (P <0.001). Considering the factor loads of the items, it varies between 0.608 and 0.845. As a result of the explanatory factor analysis, it was seen that the scale consists of two factors. This finding is consistent with the original form of the scale. The internal consistency coefficient of the scale was found to be 0.86. Conclusion: As a result of the validity and reliability analysis, the Vaccine Hesitancy Scale was found to be a valid and reliable scale for the Turkish society, which consists of 9 items and 2 sub-dimensions. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination rates and factors affecting vaccination in children with rheumatic diseases. Patients and methods: This multicenter cross-sectional survey-based study was conducted between July 2022 and September 2022. Four hundred seventy-four patients (256 females, 218 males; median age: 15 years; interquartile range, 13 to 16 years) were included in the patient group, and 211 healthy children (124 females, 87 males; median age: 15 years; interquartile range, 13 to 16 years) were included in the control group. A questionnaire was administered to the parents face-to-face during routine outpatient visits. Results: Of the patients, 220 were followed up with the diagnosis of autoinflammatory disease, 174 with juvenile idiopathic arthritis, 48 with connective tissue disease, 23 with vasculitis, eight with uveitis, and one with sarcoidosis. In the study group, 256 (54%) patients and 115 (54.5%) healthy children received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Parents' concern regarding potential side effects of the vaccine was the most common reason for COVID-19 vaccination hesitancy in both groups. The median patient age, follow-up period, colchicine treatment rates, childhood vaccination and influenza vaccination rates, median parental age, parental vaccination rate, and parental education level were higher in vaccinated patients (p<0.05 for all). In addition, vaccination rates were high in patients who shared their concerns about vaccination with the rheumatology team (p<0.001). Conclusion: Parents' concerns about safety and side effects were found to be the most important factors affecting vaccination success. Identification of the underlying causes of parental vaccine hesitancy will facilitate the development of effective vaccination strategies for potential future outbreaks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study, we aimed to examine the impacts of COVID-19 vaccines on mental health and relationships between psychological factors and vaccine acceptance in Turkey during the early pandemic period. The study included 1042 adults (70.9% females) with a mean age of 29.55 (SD = 10.29). The results showed that vaccinated participants had lower levels of COVID-19-induced anxiety and depression, and higher levels of life satisfaction compared to those without the vaccine. Furthermore, we found that COVID-19-induced anxiety and protective behaviours towards COVID-19 significantly increased the probability of vaccine acceptance, while depression significantly decreased it. Accordingly, governments should consider the mental health consequences of vaccination, as well as vaccine acceptance and refusal. Aim: This study aimed to determine the knowledge and attitudes of physicians and nurses as parents about human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination and their views on vaccination in children. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study included 72 physicians and 128 nurses who had children. Data were collected using questionnaires prepared by researchers. Descriptive statistical analysis and chi-square tests were used for data analysis. Results: In this study, 84.7% of physicians and 70.3% of the nurses knew that HPV is a cancer factor, and two-thirds of the healthcare professionals believed that the HPV vaccine is protective. Moreover, 62.5% of physicians and 74.2% of nurses reported that they did not intend to vaccinate their children. The reasons for vaccination hesitancy of healthcare professionals was believing it was unnecessary, thinking it was expensive, having insufficient knowledge about vaccine, thinking it may have side effects, and not trusting the vaccine. In this sample, 70.8% of physicians and 53.9% of nurses stated that they could have their children vaccinated only if the HPV vaccines were in the national vaccination schedule. Discussion: Further studies should be conducted to include the HPV vaccine in the childhood national vaccination program to reduce vaccine hesitancy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and Objectives: Vaccination is critical to the prevention and control of infectious disease outbreaks and is also one of the most important public health successes. When it comes to childhood vaccinations, parents' consent is very important. For this reason, childhood vaccination rates are directly related to the knowledge, beliefs, and behaviors of the parents. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the knowledge, beliefs, and behaviors of parents of children aged 0–5 regarding childhood vaccinations and how these beliefs affect their vaccination behaviors. Material and Methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted on 302 parents from February to June 2020. Data were collected using a questionnaire form with 26 questions. Sociodemographic characteristics were reported as frequencies, means, and percentages. Multiple regression analysis was utilized to evaluate vaccination behaviors and affective factors. Results: About 87.1% of the parents know that vaccines protect their children from infectious diseases, and 76.8% know that vaccines can have side effects. Although 97.7% of the parents had their children fully vaccinated according to the Extended Immunization Program, 2.3% did not vaccinate their children. Moreover, 98% of the parents trust the information given by healthcare professionals about vaccination. The parents' beliefs explain 53% (R2 = 0.53) of the parents' child vaccination behavior. Conclusion: This study found that although the knowledge level of parents about vaccines is quite good, negative knowledge and beliefs that may affect vaccination also exist. Objective: To examine the pattern of COVID-19 infection and vaccination, and to explore pregnant women's willingness and reluctance to accept a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Methods: This was a cross-sectional, descriptive study with a convenient sample size using a structured questionnaire among pregnant women attending the gynecology and obstetrics department at Acibadem Mehmet Ali Aydinlar Hospital, Istanbul, Türkiye. The Health Belief Model scale was used to assess the intention and reluctance to accept a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Results: A total of 145 participants, with a mean age of (33.5±4.8) years, and a gestational age of (30.9±7.3) weeks, were enrolled in this study. 88.8% Received full doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination. 47.8% Participants suffered from vaccine adverse effects. Health Belief Model demonstrated a significant finding of perceived susceptibility (P<0.001), perceived severity of COVID-19 complications (P<0.001), and perceived benefits regarding a booster COVID-19 vaccination (P<0.001). Conclusions: Most pregnant women who received the COVID-19 immunization express a significant intention to receive a booster dose, regardless of the adverse effects experienced from the previous doses. Background: Vaccines have positive effects on the course of epidemics. This study was conducted to determine individuals' attitudes toward coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) vaccines, their health fatalism, and factors affecting these. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 944 participants living in Turkey, who were included in the study by snowball sampling, one of the nonprobability random sampling methods. Participant information form, attitudes toward the COVID-19 vaccine scale, and religious health fatalism scale were used to collect the study data. Independent sample t-test, one-way analysis of variance and Pearson correlation analysis were used in the data analysis. Results: Participants had mean positive attitudes toward COVID-19 vaccine score of 3.63 ± 1.14, mean negative attitudes toward COVID-19 vaccine score of 3.44 ± 0.91, and mean health fatalism score of 45.75 ± 17.43. Negative and significant correlations were found between participants' mean health fatalism score and their mean positive attitudes score (r = -0.213) and their mean negative attitude score (r = -0.362) (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Individuals were found to have high positive and low negative attitudes toward COVID-19 vaccines and moderate levels of health fatalism. Background: Concerns about the safety and adverse reactions of rapidly‐developed vaccines against COVID‐19 contributed to parents' vaccine hesitancy and this situation created an opportunity for anti‐vaccine campaigners. The aim of this study was to examine the changes in parents' attitudes towards childhood vaccines during COVID‐19 pandemic. Methods: In this cross‐sectional study, parents of children who applied to the outpatient clinic of pediatric department of Trakya University Hospital, Edirne, Türkiye, between August 2020 and February 2021 were recruited into two study groups according to COVID‐19 peak time in Türkiye. Group 1 included parents of children who applied after first peak of the COVID‐19 pandemic and Group 2 included parents of children who applied after second peak. The World Health Organization 10‐item Vaccine Hesitancy Scale (WHO‐VHS) was applied to each group. Results: A total of 610 parents agreed to participate in the study. Group 1 and 2 consisted of 160 and 450 parents, respectively. While the number of parents who were hesitant about childhood vaccines was 17 (10.6%) in Group 1, it was 90 (20%) in Group 2. A statistically significant difference was found between the two groups (p = 0.008). The (WHO‐VHS) mean ± SD score was found to be higher in Group 2 (23.7 ± 6.9) than Group 1 (21.3 ± 7.3) (p < 0.001). The WHO‐VHS‐ mean ± SD scores of parents who experienced COVID‐19 infection themselves or their family or acquaintances were significantly lower than those who did not (20.0 ± 6.5 vs. 24.7 ± 6.9) (p < 0.001). Conclusions: The hesitant attitudes towards childhood and COVID‐19 vaccines were low in parents who directly or indirectly experienced COVID‐19 or were worried about the devastating effects of this disease. INTRODUCTION: It was aimed to determine the parents' level of hesitation about childhood vaccinations and the individual concerns and reasons underlying vaccination refusal. MATERIALS and METHODS: The research designed mixed pattern as research methods in 2020. Family health centers in 4 districts in Istanbul. Population of the study, 276 parents are living Istanbul. Sampling criteria are having children aged 5 years or younger. The Vaccine Hesitation Scale was used to measure the level of vaccicine hesitation level. For qualitative research, semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted face-to-face with 25 parents refused vaccine application. Content analysis method was used to evaluate qualitative data. Quantitative data were analyzed SPSS program. RESULTS: Socio-demographic data of 276 participants were evaluated. 87% of the participants are women, 22% are in the 20-30 age group and 55% are in the 31-40 age group, 32.6% have 2 children, 21% have 3 children, 43.5% are primary education. She was a graduate 25.4% of the mothers had attended vaccine information seminars. Participants were found to have a high vaccine hesitation level. There was no significant difference in vaccine hesitation levels of the participants according to age, number of children, education level and seminar status(p> 0.05). Qualititative research findings that vaccines are unfavorable to religion (n: 16, 64%), source and content of disease are harmful(n: 18, 72%), vaccines are useless(n: 16, 64%), insufficient information is given about vaccines(n: 14, 56%), that social media are ineffective in their decisions(n: 17, 68%), infectious diseases are not dangerous(n: 13, 52%), they are hesitant about vaccination(n: 18, 72%). CONCLUSIONS: It was determined that the reasons for this were negative attitudes towards vaccines, religious beliefs, lack of knowledge about vaccines and diseases. Background: As vaccination against coronavirus disase-19 (COVID-19) evolves, hesitancy has become a problematic issue that has gradually spread worldwide. The main reason for vaccine hesitancy is uncertainties about vaccine side effects. Aims: To evaluate the safety of an inactivated COVID-19 vaccine, CoronaVac, and determine the risk factors of emergence of side effects. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: An online questionnaire was administered via the internet to healthcare workers who received one or two doses of CoronaVac. The online survey consisted of three sections detailing sociodemographic data, COVID-19 history, and post-vaccine side effects. Side effects that occurred in the period starting from immediately after the first vaccination to the end of the 14th day after the second vaccination were recorded. Results: A total of 1628 healthcare workers responded to the online survey. Of these, 24.3% had a side effect either after the first or second dose of CoronaVac. Redness and/or pain at the inoculation site, headache, muscle and joint pains, palpitations, and dizziness were the most common side effects. Female sex, age <50 years, and thyroid disorder in the pre-vaccine period were found to be risk factors for the emergence of side effects. Blood pressure control could not be achieved in 2.2% of participants despite medication use, and permanent medication was needed in 2.5% of participants for blood pressure control. Conclusion: Almost a quarter of healthcare workers have at least one side effect after the first or second dose of CoronaVac. Aim: This study investigated the vaccination status of those children who received inpatient treatment due to measles and explored the beliefs and practices of their parents related to the refusal of childhood vaccines. Materials and Methods: This study was a descriptive research performed at a training and research hospital in eastern Turkey. The study data were collected from the parents of children with measles who were receiving inpatient treatment. In this study, the introductory information form and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory were used. Results: The results revealed that 61.8% of those children with measles had not been vaccinated against measles. Factors that played a role in the parents' vaccine refusal included family elders' unwillingness, negative media reports, the side effects of vaccines, and negative attitudes towards health care workers. Parents with poor socio-economic status, low educational status, and extended family types were found to have significantly higher rates of vaccine refusal. The parents had an average state anxiety score of 60.15±5.73 and an average trait anxiety score of 50.21±3.33. Conclusion: Many factors were found to influence the causes of parents not having their children vaccinated. Community-based training is needed to address the parents' misconceptions, concerns, and lack of knowledge about vaccinations. Renewing policies on vaccinations, establishing standards, and imposing legal sanctions can be effective in reducing vaccine refusal rates. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Outbreaks of measles were seen throughout the world in 2018-2019, including Turkey. Measles outbreak in Turkey may be attributed to cases imported from European countries and increased rate of unvaccinated children due to the massive influx of refugees from neighboring countries. Materials and Methods: The demographic details and clinical and laboratory findings of the patients hospitalized with diagnosis of measles in the Pediatric Clinic of Adana City Hospital in 2019 were evaluated retrospectively. Results: Among the 38 children enrolled, 18 were female (47.4%), the median age was 12 months (3-199 months), 20 were Turkish citizens (52.6%), and 18 (47.4%) were refugees. Twenty-seven children had vaccination data available, with 25 unvaccinated for measles. None of the families declared vaccine hesitancy. Of the unvaccinated subgroup (n = 25), 19 (76%) were younger than 12 months. The mean duration of hospitalization was 5.13 ± 2.67 days, no mortalities occurred. Measles was encountered in the social circle of 10 cases, although only 2 families applied for prophylaxis. Conclusions: Among the children with measles, 10 of the cases were reported to be within the household of previously diagnosed measles cases, but only 2 of them were given prophylaxis. Awareness regarding use of post-exposure prophylaxis against measles should be increased. Efforts to keep the measles vaccination coverage rate above optimal levels should be encouraged in regions with concentration of irregular refugees. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: The study aims to determine the vaccination status of children and evaluate the relationship between vaccination rates, vaccine attitudes, and some parental health practices. Design and Methods: This cross‐sectional study was conducted with 674 mothers. Data were collected using a survey evaluating vaccine characteristics, some infant health practices, and The Public Attitude Toward Vaccination Scale—Health Belief Model. Chi‐square test, independent samples t‐test, and logistic regression analysis were used. Results: 80.2% of children were fully vaccinated. The rate of non or under‐vaccination was higher in the group that did not regularly undergo follow‐up for 0–2‐year‐old children, did not fully have health screenings, did not use vitamin D and iron supplements, and used alternative medicine. Moreover, the duration of breast milk feeding, the transition to supplementary food, and the duration of vitamin D use in the non‐fully vaccinated group were lower than in the fully vaccinated group (p <.05). The increase in maternal education period and severity and benefit attitude scores of vaccine attitude were the factors that decreased the rate of non‐fully vaccination. The increase in barrier scores toward vaccines increased the rate of non or under‐vaccination. Conclusion: Mothers who have negative attitudes toward vaccination have negative behaviors in health practices and screenings on infant/child health. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: This study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the health literacy studies conducted during the COVID -19 pandemic period. Methods: The search was based on the use of "Health literacy" AND "COVID*" OR "Coronavirus*" OR "Novel Coronavirus" AND "Nursing" OR "Nurse*" keywords in WoS between the years 2020 and 2022. The search included a total of 27 articles, which were analyzed using the bibliometric method. The publications were analyzed in terms of issues such as the year of publication, journal information, country distributions, number of authors, number of samples, study design, etc. Analyses also included the graphics of the top-used words, interaction of the top-used words, and interaction of the top-cited publications via VoS viewer. Results: Analysis results showed that in addition to health literacy, the studies were also found to include topics such as digital literacy, fear, and anxiety. Conclusions: It is evident that the importance of the concept of health literacy, which is an important public health issue worldwide, should be explored through more comprehensive studies. Background: The novel coronavirus disease 2019 has caused psychological distress such as anxiety and fear among nurses worldwide. Nurses are a creditable source of vaccine‐related information and have a primary role in building confidence regarding vaccines. Aim: The present study was designed to investigate the fear and anxiety of nurses regarding novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) and their attitudes towards the COVID‐19 vaccine. The predictors of fear, anxiety and attitudes towards the vaccine were also investigated. Methods: A descriptive and correlational design was used. The study was conducted in three public hospitals from different parts of the Turkey, and 405 nurses from the three hospitals were recruited by stratified sampling. Results: Anxiety and negative attitudes towards the vaccine were positively related to fear of COVID‐19. Age and fear were also positively associated with anxiety related to COVID‐19. Nurses who had received the vaccine and those who were fearful had a positive attitude towards the vaccine. Conclusion: Psychosocial support programmes should be implemented to improve psychological resilience and coping strategies in nurses and organized education programmes are needed to increase positive attitudes towards vaccination. The COVID‐19 pandemic significantly affected the psychological health of nurses.Nurses have a fundamental function in the general acceptance of vaccines. What this paper adds? Objective: It was aimed to determine the vaccine rejection rates and affecting factors in the Training Family Health Centers (TFHC) affiliated with a department of family medicine. Methods: This study was designed as a mixed research and conducted in two TFHC of Department of Family Medicine of Atatürk University. In 2018, parents who did not receive at least one of the vaccines required under the Ministry of Health's Extended Immunity Program were included. Semi-structured interview technique was used on the telephone as the data collection method. Content analysis was applied statistically. An in-depth interview was done with 6 volunteering parents. Results: The mean age was 30±1.2 years for both parents. All parents (n=6) who refused vaccination were university graduates. 66.7% of the parents (n=4) had high monthly income. According to the medical records of 749 children between 0-16 ages who were supposed to be vaccinated in 2018, it was observed that in nine children (1.2%), at least one vaccine was missing. Four children were not vaccinated due to distrust to the vaccine. Three of the parents refused vaccination due to complications developed after previous vaccinations. Conclusions: Vaccine rejection rates were found low in our TFHCs and socioeconomic levels of them were high. The most important factors affecting vaccine rejection were the lack of confidence in the vaccine content and insufficient information about vaccines. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Neglecting the role of political bias in the public's perceptions of health authorities could be deceptive when studying potentially politicized COVID-19 conspiracy theories (CCTs); however, previous studies often treated health authorities as a single entity and did not distinguish between different types of CCTs. Drawing from motivated reasoning theory, we investigate the politically motivated nature of CCTs by examining their associations with individuals' media reliance, party identification, conspiratorial mentality, and importantly, trust in (politicized or independent) health authorities. In a national survey conducted in late 2020 (N = 2,239) in Turkey, a heavily polarized context, we found that not accounting for political identities shown in CCTs and health authorities could be misleading. While those with a strong conspiracy mentality were more likely to endorse all types of CCTs, party identification and trust in different types of health authorities led people to believe in certain CCTs aligning with their political attitudes. Preschool education institutions, where children have close contact and social interactions, can serve as potential environments for the transmission of infectious diseases. This issue poses a significant health concern, impacting both individual and public well-being. Thus, the present research set out to determine the prevalence of infectious diseases in preschool children and the views of parents and teachers on the prevention of infectious diseases. The study employed a mixed-method approach and involved 397 parents and 46 preschool teachers. The study was survey-based via in-person interviews. The results revealed that after they started school (almost in 5 months), children with a mean age of 4.7 ± 0.5 years experienced illness approximately 3.5 ± 2.0 times, of whom 91.5% used antibiotics. The prevalence of infectious diseases was found to be associated with the child's being born at term, maternal education level, and the public/private status of preschool institutions. The presence of a sick child in the classroom elicits negative emotions from both teachers and parents. They recommend that studies on education, safety, hygiene, school health, health screenings, regulation of the learning environment, legal regulations, and school exclusion policies be carried out to prevent infectious diseases. When children with infectious diseases come to school, nearly half of the teachers admit them to the classroom due to various reasons and pressures. Parents request teachers to monitor medication, control sweating, and use a nebulizer for their sick children. Some of the teachers meet these requests, but they claim that the educational process is negatively affected. At preschool education institutions, the risk factors of infectious diseases have a complex structure and can be influenced by variables related to teachers, children, parents and the institution itself. Infectious diseases not only pose a threat to health but also impact teachers' and parents' emotions, teacher–child relationships, and the overall atmosphere within schools and classrooms. BACKGROUND: Reliable and culturally informed health communication is vital in developing positive health behaviors. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to investigate the change in knowledge and attitudes about COVID-19 vaccines by providing training to educators in a province in the east of Turkey. METHODS: A questionnaire developed by the researchers on the basis of the literature was used in this intervention study. It consisted of three parts: socio-demographic information, before education knowledge (BEK) and Attitudes Towards the COVID-19 Vaccine (BEATV), and after education knowledge (AEK) and Attitudes Towards the COVID-19 Vaccine (AEATV). There were 99 teachers, 32 public education teachers, and 144 religious officials who participated in the study. The data were analyzed using SPSS Statistics Pack version 22.0 (IBM, Armonk, NY, USA). Statistical significance value was accepted as p < 0.05. RESULTS: Among the participants, the number of correct answers to all questions increased as a result of the study. There was a positive increase in most of the ATV items after the training. CONCLUSION: Education on COVID-19 vaccines increased awareness as shown by the total number of correct answers and the improved attitude of educators. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Adolescents' general health status and health behaviors have been closely monitored in recent years. It is estimated that adolescents comprise one-sixth of the world's population. This study examined whether eHealth literacy was predicted via health promotion activities and preventive health practices among Turkish adolescents. This cross-sectional study was conducted between March and May 2022 with 706 adolescents in Çorum, Turkey. A face-to-face questionnaire form was used, including socio-demographic characteristics, preventive health practices, eHealth literacy scale and Adolescent Health Promotion Scale. The data of the research were analyzed with the SPSS 22.0 program. Percentage, mean, Pearson Correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were used in the analyzes. The p  < 0.05 value was considered statistically significant in the evaluations. In the study, 55.8% were female, and the mean age of the whole group was 16.09 ± 2.63 years. The mean score on the eHealth literacy scale was 29.40 ± 6.29. The mean of the total scores obtained from the Adolescent Health Promotion Scale was 137.97 ± 21.87. There was a significant positive correlation between eHealth literacy and the Adolescent Health Promotion Scale (p  < 0.001). Multiple linear regression analysis was performed to predict eHealth literacy using the variables of Adolescent Health Promotion and preventive health practices. eHealth literacy positively and significantly predicts health promotion activities (β  = 0.27, t (695) = 7.54, p  < 0.001). eHealth literacy increased annual weight measurement by more than 0.13 (β  = 0.13), annual blood iron measurement by more than 0.16 (β  = 0.16) and annual dental examination by more than 0.11 (β  = 0.11). Developing eHealth literacy interventions will be necessary for environments with a high concentration of adolescents (schools and courses). Objective: Despite marked improvements in the accessibility of childhood vaccines, knowledge gaps remain about the vaccination of children in special risk groups (SRG). This study aimed to analyze the clinical data of children vaccinated in SRG in a single-center unit to contribute to the clinical evidence for the specific planning of immunization of children in SRG. The secondary aim is to present institutional consensus on the vaccination of children in SRG. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study was conducted at a single-center pediatric vaccination clinic. Patient charts between 2018 and 2021 were retrospectively reviewed, and clinical and laboratory data were extracted. Serial joint meetings with multiple healthcare professionals were performed to develop an institutional protocol for vaccination. Results: There were 479 children vaccinated between 2018 and 2021 for reasons such as postchemotherapy, after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, before/after solid organ transplantation, allergies, and chronic diseases. Of these, 298 (62.2%) children vaccinated in the unit due to a history of food or vaccine allergies were excluded. One hundred eighty-one children were vaccinated at a median age of 11 [7-15] years. Most children were vaccinated after treatment for malignancies. Solid tumors were the most frequent malignancy (67%), followed by acute lymphoblastic leukemia (29.0%) and acute myeloid leukemia (4.0%). Institutional vaccination protocols for cancer survivors, hematopoietic stem cells, and solid organ recipient children were developed and presented. Conclusion: There is a need to prepare national guidelines for vaccinating children with altered immunocompetence. Sharing vaccination practices by multidisciplinary vaccination units might increase and provide knowledge to develop national policies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: University students are a large group of the population who should be vaccinated to prevent the spread of the pandemic. This research aimed to determine the effect of COVID‐19 vaccine literacy on the attitudes towards the COVID‐19 vaccine among university students. Methods: This descriptive and cross‐sectional study was conducted with 2384 university students via online survey in September and October 2021. 'Demographic Information Form', 'COVID‐19 Vaccine Literacy Scale', and 'Attitudes towards the COVID‐19 Vaccine Scale' were used to collect the data. Data were evaluated via descriptive statistics, independent group t‐test, ANOVA, Tukey HSD, and Pearson Correlation analysis. Results: The mean score on the COVID‐19 Vaccine Literacy Scale was 27.26 ± 6.49 (moderate). Demographic differences that significantly affected students' vaccine literacy scales included parents' education levels (lower levels of parental education associated with higher communicative/critical vaccine literacy). Health sciences students had more positive attitudes to the COVID vaccine than students of other disciplines. The higher the level of mother's education, the more positive the student's attitude towards the vaccine, and similarly the higher the student's socio‐economic background the higher the positive attitude towards the vaccine. Examination of the relationship between the vaccine literacy scale and the attitudes towards the vaccine showed low levels of correlation. Discussion: Students who had parents of lower education levels may have more responsibilities for explaining vaccination to their parents, thus improving their communicative/critical vaccine literacy. Conclusion: A vaccine literacy scale with separate functional literacy score and critical/communicative score helps to explain some of socio‐demographic differences in students' scores, and similarly for attitude towards the COVID‐19 vaccine (positive and negative attitude sub‐scales). Our study aimed to determine the level of coronavirus-related health literacy among school administrators and the factors that influence this. The sample of this cross-sectional study consisted of 402 school administrators serving in primary, secondary and high schools in Ankara. The data were collected between September 2021 and February 2022 using the descriptive characteristics questionnaire and the Coronavirus-Related Health Literacy Questionnaire (HLS-COVID-Q22). It was seen that 64.4% of the participants were male, 34.6% were 40 years old or younger and 35.6% were working in primary schools; 77.6% of the participants had a sufficient, 16.2% had a problematic and 6.2% had an inadequate level of coronavirus-related health literacy. Age, gender, chronic disease status, type of school they work in, level of knowledge about coronavirus, level of confusion due to knowledge about coronavirus, willingness to be vaccinated, believing that vaccines are safe/effective/compatible with their religious beliefs were found to affect coronavirus-related health literacy (p  < 0.05). Gender, age, information satisfaction on coronavirus, confusion due to information on coronavirus and 'Overall, I believe that vaccinations are effective' explained 24.9% of HLS-COVID-Q22 variance (Adjusted R 2 = 0.249, F  = 13.080, p  < 0.001). This study found the coronavirus-related health literacy level among school administrators to be sufficient. It found that their level of health literacy was affected by gender, age, chronic disease status, type of school they worked at, level of knowledge about coronavirus, level of confusion due to information about coronavirus, desire to be vaccinated and their thoughts about vaccines. Background. Routine immunisation, one of the most successful public health initiatives, has significantly decreased infectious disease-related mortality and morbidity. Family physicians in Turkey avoid administering vaccines to children who have food allergies and instead refer them to a hospital setting. Objectives. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the approaches of family physicians when applying vaccines to children with diagnosed or suspected food allergies according to the national vaccination schedule. Material and methods. This study was carried out between 01.07.2021 and 31.08.2021 with family physicians in the Ankara province. Using questionnaire, the participants were questioned about their sociodemographic characteristics, their vaccination approaches towards patients with diagnoses or suspicions of food allergies and their personal experiences. Results. A total of 184 family physicians participated in this study, and 82.6% of them stated that they were hesitant about the administrations of vaccines to children with diagnosed or suspected food allergies. Regarding the administration of vaccines, the most concerning food allergies involved eggs (71.7%) and cow’s milk (15.8%). The vaccinations they were mainly concerned about were determined as the measles-rubella-mumps (MMR) (83.7%) and measles (46.7%) vaccines in a suspected or diagnosed presence of an egg allergy and/or cow’s milk allergy, respectively. Conclusions. This study showed that the surveyed family physicians are hesitant of vaccinating children with diagnoses or suspicions of food allergies and see themselves as intermediately qualified. Objective: Although vaccines are considered safe for most people, patients with some chronic diseases have been very hesitant to get vaccinated, especially at the initial stages of vaccination. We conducted a survey among patients with epilepsy (PWE) who are currently experiencing hesitations, aiming to investigate the vaccination rates against Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) and the side effects emerged in vaccinated patients. Methods: Two hundred nineteen PWE were questioned during a routine outpatient follow-up through previously prepared questionnaires that contained questions about patients' demographic features, information about the vaccination status, and its adverse effects. Results: We included 219 PWE in the study of which 112 (51.1%) were female and 107 (48.8%) were male. One hundred eighty patients (82.1%) had been vaccinated at least once, 75% of the patients preferred two doses of BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, 9.4% of the patients preferred two doses of Sinovac's inactivated vaccine, 6.1% of the patients preferred three doses of Sinovac, and 9.4% of the patients preferred Sinovac and BNT162b2 vaccines. Seventy-seven (42.7%) patients reported that they experienced side effects after vaccination whereas ten patients (5.5%) reported worsening of their seizures after vaccination; one person stated that she/he was hospitalized in the intensive care unit due to status epilepticus. Conclusion: Generally, the tolerance of COVID-19 vaccines has progressed with mild side effects in most cases, which is consistent with previous studies in the general population, similarly no serious and previously unreported side effects were found in our study. Introduction: This research was conducted for the purpose of examining the attitudes of individuals toward COVID-19 vaccinations and the factors affecting the vaccination preferences of the individuals. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted with 592 people who were reached by Haphazard sampling method between February and March 2021. The data were collected using the web-based survey form. The form including questions an introductory and the Attitude Evaluation Form toward Covid-19 vaccine. Descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and Chi-square tests were used in the analysis of the data and statistical significance was accepted as p<0.05. Results: 35.6% of the participants were undecided that the vaccine will end the covid-19 pandemic and 53.4% think that the vaccine was useful and necessary to get rid of Covid-19 disease. 53.5% of the participants consider getting the Covid-19 vaccine. The rate of thinking of vaccination was higher in female, those who have a high level of fear and knowledge about Covid-19, with chronic diseases, and who have routine vaccinations (p<0.05). Discussion and Conclusion: According to the results obtained in this study, more than half of the individuals consider to be vaccinated, this rate is higher in the individuals whose fear and knowledge levels about COVID-19 are higher, those with chronic disease, those who are vaccinated with routine vaccinations and in females. Aim: It was aimed to explore the relationship between evidence-based medicine (EBM) training and medical students' views on traditional, complementary, and alternative medicine (TCAM) and their views on conspiracies about COVID-19. Background: Medical students constitute the future workforce of primary health care services. The relationship between EBM training and their views on conspiracies about COVID-19 is critical to explore for providing a better primary health care. The relationship EBM training and medical students' views on TCAM is also important in this regard. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study. Turkish medical students were surveyed about EBM training, TCAM, and COVID-19 conspiracies. The electronic survey form consisted of five parts: Demographic characteristics, views and self-perceived knowledge about TCAM and the methods, views on the origin of SARS-COV-2, participation in EBM training, and views on TCAM training. A total of 49 medical schools provided response. Along with descriptive statistics, Chi-square test was utilized. Findings: Among 2577 participants, 24.0% of them believed SARS-COV-2 was artificially designed. The students who have participated in EBM training via both lecture and small group discussions have a less positive view on TCAM than both the students who have not participated in any EBM training (p < 0.05) and the students who participated in only-lectures (p < 0.05). There was a significant association between EBM training and whether believing COVID-19 (SARS-COV-2) has been designed purposefully by some people or it has emerged naturally χ 2 (1) = 17.21 p < 0.001. The odds of thinking COVID-19 emerged naturally was 1.85 times higher (95% CI: 1.38-2.47) if the students have participated in EBM training via both lectures and small group discussions than if they have not participated in any EBM training. Aim: To identify healthcare professionals' attitudes toward the coronavirus vaccine. Background: Controlling the coronavirus pandemic depends on achieving a high level of herd immunity. Accordingly, it is very important that healthcare professionals become role models by displaying positive attitudes toward vaccination. Methods: This cross‐sectional study was conducted between March and April 2021 with a total of 309 healthcare professionals. Data were collected via an online surveys using an "Introductory Information Form" and "Attitudes Towards the COVID‐19 Vaccine Scale." One‐way variance analysis and Bonferroni correction were used for the comparison of nonnormally distributed quantitative variables between more than two groups. The Kruskal–Wallis test and Dunn–Bonferroni test were used to compare non‐normally distributed quantitative variables between more than two groups. Pearson correlation analysis was performed to evaluate the relationships between the quantitative variables. Results: Regarding the healthcare professionals' attitudes towards the COVID‐19 vaccine, the average score of positive attitudes was 3.52 ± 0.87, and the average score of negative attitudes was 3.39 ± 0.68. A statistically significant weak relationship was found between the ages of the participants and the average score of their positive attitudes towards the COVID‐19 vaccine. The negative attitude score of the individuals who wanted to get the coronavirus vaccine was significantly higher than those who were undecided or did not want to get the vaccine. Conclusions: Healthcare professionals completely agreed with the opinion "I would persuade everyone around me to get the coronavirus vaccine," and completely disagreed with the opinion "I believe that they will inject microchips to people with the coronavirus vaccine." Healthcare professionals have positive attitudes toward the COVID‐19 vaccine. COVID‐19–vaccinated participants' positive and negative attitude scores were found higher than those who were not vaccinated. Implications for nursing and health policy: Supportive social activities should be organized in the public sense so that healthcare professionals act as a role model by displaying positive attitudes toward vaccination.
