Background: Folliculitis Decalvans is a neutrophilic infammation of the scalp characterized by painful recurrent purulent follicular exsudation resulting in primary cicatricial alopecia. Etiology is unclear but infection may play a role. Systemic antimicrobial agents, namely tetracyclines, are useful to control the disease. Objective: The authors present a case series of 19 patients treated with oral azythromycin. Conclusions: Most of the patients improved and no important side effects were reported.
