Background: Patient esthetic satisfaction following facial fillers is an essential topic that should be studied as the number of individuals seeking treatment increases. The face is an essential component of the human body that is frequently associated with beauty, youthfulness, and health. Individuals may seek facial augmentation with fillers for a variety of reasons, such as congenital, acquired by means of aging or disease, or current aesthetic trends., Objective: The aim is to assess patient's aesthetic satisfaction and description of common clinical complications in relation to the facial filler injections., Method: A cross sectional survey using a questionnaire derived from the global aesthetic improvement scale and WHO quality of life scale, convenience sampling was used to recruit patients attending cosmetic clinics, descriptive analysis and Chi-square methods were used to analyze the data., Results: In the study, 500 female participants, with an average age of 28.48 years, were included. Over 90% reported improvement after filler treatment, ranging from improved to very much improved. A statistically significant correlation was observed between patient satisfaction and the number of filler treatments and the anatomical injection site. However, no statistically significant correlation was found when considering age groups. Local side effects, such as swelling and redness at the injection site, were common but generally mild and of short duration., Conclusion: Although the satisfaction level is currently high, practitioners in the field need to pay more attention to this important outcome, since understanding the patient's motivation and expectation before proceeding with the procedure is very important and can contribute significantly in determining patient satisfaction with the result., (Copyright © 2023 AEDV. Background: Injections of hyaluronic acid (HA) for tissue augmentation are one of the most common aesthetic treatments performed worldwide. However, few studies have compared the safety and efficacy of small- and large-particle HA (SP-HA; LP-HA)., Aim: To assess and compare the safety and efficacy of SP-HA and LP-HA for the correction of nasolabial folds (NLFs)., Methods: A prospective, split-face, triple-blind study design was used. Ten female subjects were recruited. Patients underwent treatment at baseline, an optional touch up at Week 2, and a follow-up visit at Week 4. At weeks 2 and 4, a blinded reviewer assessed the patients using the Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS) and Wrinkle Severity Rating Scale (WSRS); and subjects completed the Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire (PSQ). At all visits, 3-dimensional imagery and ultrasonography of patients' NLFs were captured. Adverse events (AEs) were evaluated by the Investigator and recorded by subjects in diaries., Results: The GAIS response rate, defined as ≥ "improved" from baseline, was between 90 (2 weeks) and 100% (1 month) for SP-HA and was 100% for LP-HA, at both visits. Paired-samples t tests revealed significant differences in the change in WSRS scores between groups, at both visits (P < .01). Differences in the clinical effect and lifting capacity of both products were observed in 3-dimensional imagery and ultrasonography. Treatment volumes varied, with 61.32% more SP-HA being required than LP-HA for achieving a ≥ one-grade WSRS improvement. The study "Spaces of the Face for Filler Procedures: Identification of subSMAS Spaces Based on Anatomical Study" explores the anatomy of facial spaces crucial for safe and effective filler injections. By delineating the subSMAS (sub-superficial musculoaponeurotic system) spaces, this research highlights how these virtual compartments, bordered by fat, muscles, fascia, and ligaments, facilitate independent muscle movement and reduce the risk of damaging critical structures. The thicker and more robust skin of East Asians necessitates deeper filler injections, emphasizing the significance of accurately identifying these spaces. A cadaver study with dyed gelatin validated the existence and characteristics of these subSMAS spaces, confirming their safety for filler procedures. Key spaces, such as the subgalea-frontalis, interfascial and temporalis, and prezygomatic spaces, were examined, illustrating safe zones for injections. The findings underscore the importance of anatomical knowledge for enhancing facial aesthetics while minimizing complications. This study serves as a guide for clinicians to perform precise and safe filler injections, providing a foundation for further research on the dynamic interactions of these spaces and long-term outcomes. Dermal filler and botulinum toxin injections are among the most performed non-invasive procedures for rejuvenation and contouring, internationally. Although most dermal fillers and approved botulinum toxins are well tolerated with a high safety profile, adverse events and/or complications can happen. Injection-related sequelae and side effects are usually rare, mild, transient, and self-limiting in nature. However, devastating and life-changing complications, such as intravascular occlusion, skin necrosis, permanent visual impairment, and stroke, have been reported. Risk reduction measures include an in-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology, correct patient selection, correct identification of clinical indications, and, fundamentally, the importance of appropriate skill and training. In this paper, some of the complications are discussed and advice on how to minimise adverse events and complications from these injectables is provided. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: The Dental Council of India has included facial plastic surgery in the scope of practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (OMFSs) in India. However, the knowledge and interests of these specialists towards facial plastic surgery are unexplored. Materials and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study consisting of a structured questionnaire tool with six domains and 46 questions was circulated amongst registered OMFSs in India. The study consisted of 950 participants. The data obtained from this questionnaire were coded and entered into Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and a descriptive analysis was conducted. Results: The study yielded that only 33% of the participants were completely aware of facial fillers and 30.5% were aware of Botox procedure. However, there was complete awareness of blepharoplasty in 42%, cheiloplasty/palatoplasty in 65.8%, laser facial resurfacing in 23.7% and facial rejuvenation in 23.5% of the participants. Discussion: It was found that a high number of OMFSs felt that their exposure to plastic surgery during their post-graduation years was not sufficient. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
