Background: To assess depression, anxiety, and other psychological disorders in adolescents with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and determine the significant factors and the effect of digital media use on its scores among these patient groups. Methods: The study was conducted as a cross-sectional study and included 84 adolescents with CKD and 68 healthy controls. The participants completed the Revised Child Anxiety and Depression Scale (RCADS). We recorded their age, gender, the most problematic issue in their lives, coping methods with problems, and online applications they prefer in their leisure time. Results: Elevated rates (scores > 70) of separation anxiety, panic disorder, obsession, depression, total anxiety, and total depression scales were statistically higher in the CKD group. Separation anxiety, panic disorder, obsession, total anxiety, and total depression scales were higher in girls, and panic disorder, obsession, depression, total anxiety, and total depression scores were higher in younger ages in multivariate analysis. In the CKD group, family issues/problems increased panic disorder, obsession, depression, total anxiety, and total depression scales. Crying in tears/yelling response in children while facing a problem was associated with increased separation anxiety and social phobia rates. Also, preferring video applications was associated with separation anxiety and messaging applications with depression, total anxiety, and total depression. Conclusions: Adolescents with CKD are at risk for depression, anxiety, obsession, and panic disorders. Also, crying in tears/yelling response may be at greater risk for anxiety among CKD adolescents. Early psychiatric evaluation and routine psychiatric follow-ups initiated early may improve the mental health of this vulnerable population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: To evaluate the incidence and severity of depression in patients with retinitis pigmentosa (RP). Materials and Methods: The Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) was administered to 74 patients with RP and 60 healthy controls. Biomicroscopic anterior segment and fundus examination, visual field, optical coherence tomography, and full-field electroretinography tests were performed in all cases. Variables were evaluated with bivariate, multiple linear, and ordinal logistic regression analyses. Results: The RP group included 40 (54%) male and 34 (46%) female patients, while the control group included 23 (38%) male and 37 (62%) female subjects. The patient group had a mean age of 39.20±12.4 years, median best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) of 0.10 decimal (1.0 logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution [logMAR]; range, 1.3-0.7 logMAR), and median visual field mean deviation (MD) score of -28.00 decibels (dB) (range, -1.00 to -34.00 dB). The median BDI score was statistically significantly higher in the patient group (19 points) than in the control group (12 points) (p<0.001). Moderate to severe depression (BDI ≥20) was detected in 61% of patients, while this rate was 25% in healthy controls. BCVA and visual field MD values were identified as predictors of depression score and severity level. The patients' age and gender did not affect total depression score or severity. Conclusion: The prevalence and severity of depression were found to be higher in RP patients than in healthy controls. There was a significant relationship between the patient's functional vision tests and the frequency and severity of depression. Depression reduces the reliability of visual function tests and impairs patients' quality of life. Therefore, assessing mental health as well as functional tests is important in patients with RP. Objective: This study was designed to explore the relationships between depression, and the likelihood of suicide among young adolescents by considering various factors. Design and Samples: It was conducted in a descriptive‐cross‐sectional format, with fieldwork spanning from November 16, 2022, to June 30, 2023. The study assessed the likelihood of depression, and suicide in young adolescents attending a university in Eastern Turkey. Measurements: Sociodemographic features survey form, Beck's Depression Inventory and Suicide Probability Scale were used to collect data. Results: The results from this investigation indicated that women, individuals with chronic illnesses, those with a history of psychiatric conditions, those expressing a constant desire to die, those with suicidal thoughts or plans, and those with a family member who had attempted suicide exhibited significantly higher mean scores for depression and suicide. There was a positive correlation between high depression scores and suicidal tendencies. However, no conclusive evidence of a link between depression, and suicide was established. Conclusions: In this study, certain demographic and psychological factors were identified as correlating with elevated levels of depression and suicidal tendencies among young adolescents. Along with anxiety and depression, mindfulness has recently gained attention among the predictors of college adjustment. This study conducted in Türkiye, investigated the relationship between mindfulness and college adjustment through the mediating role of depression and anxiety. Data were collected using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale, the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale, and the University Life Scale with 358 college students. College adjustment was found to be correlated positively with mindfulness and negatively with anxiety and depression. The path analysis results indicated that mindfulness predicts college adjustment while anxiety and depression served as mediator variables. Background: The detrimental mental health effects which emerged from COVID-19 have profoundly affected healthcare workers (HCWs) worldwide. The aim of this study was to investigate the mediating effects of traumatic stress and loneliness on the fears of contracting and dying from COVID-19, and anxiety and depression of HCWs during the pandemic. Methods: A cross-sectional online survey was completed by HCWs in a province of Turkey. The Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale, Impact of Events Scale-Revised and numerical rating scales (for fears of COVID-19 and loneliness) were used and a bootstrap approach was used in the analyses with SPSS PROCESS macro software. Results: Of the HCWs evaluated, 150 (34.4%) were doctors, with a mean duration of work experience of 10.6 ± 7.5 years. The results indicated that fear of contracting COVID-19 was directly related to anxiety (β = 0.244, p < 0.001) and depression (β = 0.135, p < 0.01) and that traumatic stress and loneliness mediated the relationships between the fear of contracting COVID-19 and anxiety (β = 0.435, p < 0.001; β = 0.235, p < 0.001, respectively) and depression (β = 0.365, p < 0.001; β = 0.294, p < 0.001, respectively). The fear of dying from COVID-19 was determined to be directly associated with anxiety (β = 0.190, p < 0.001) but not with depression (β = 0.066, p = 0.116), and traumatic stress and loneliness mediated the relationships between the fear of dying from COVID-19 and anxiety (β = 0.476, p < 0.001; β = 0.259, p < 0.001, respectively) and depression (β = 0.400, p < 0.001; β = 0.311, p < 0.001, respectively). Conclusions: The study results demonstrated the important roles of traumatic stress and loneliness in exacerbating the negative consequences of fears of COVID-19 on anxiety and depression, and provide insights for identifying HCWs at greater risk. This study aimed to evaluate depression, anxiety, and stress prevalence and correlates among professional football team medical and allied health staff (MAHS) in Turkey. An online survey was sent to all MAHS (n = 865) attending the professional development accreditation course organized at the end of the 2021–2022 football season in Turkey. Three standardized scales assessed depression, anxiety, and stress. A total of 573 staff participated (response rate = 66.2%). 36.7% of MAHS reported at least moderate severity depression, 25% anxiety, and 80.5% stress. Younger (26–33 years) and less experienced (6–10 years) MAHS reported higher stress scores than their older (50–57 years) and more experienced (>15 years) counterparts (p = 0.02 and p = 0.03, respectively). Masseurs (compared to team doctors) and staff without a second job (compared to those with a second job) reported higher depression and anxiety scores (p = 0.02, p = 0.03, p = 0.03, p = 0.02, respectively). Depression, anxiety, and stress scores of MAHS whose monthly income was less than $519 were higher than those whose income was more than $1036 (all p < 0.01). Findings demonstrated that professional football team MAHS suffer from symptoms of mental-ill-health at substantial rates. We investigated depression and anxiety levels and related psychological disorders in adolescents with transfusion-dependent thalassemia (TDT) in this study. The study was conducted in two pediatric hematology outpatient clinics and included adolescents with TDT (14.8 ± 2.4 years, n = 40) in the study and compared them with the healthy age-matched control group (14.3 ± 2.3 years, n = 62). The Turkish version of the Revised Child Anxiety and Depression Scale (RCADS) was used to determine depression, anxiety, and related psychologic disorders (obsession, panic disorder, social phobia). Depression, anxiety, obsession, panic disorder, and social phobia scores were significantly higher in the patient group compared with the control (all p < 0.05). Ferritin levels were positively correlated with total depression, general anxiety, separation anxiety, and social phobia scores, but transfusion frequency and young age were the confounding factors. Patients in early adolescence and those who require more frequent blood transfusions are at higher risk of developing psychological disorders; routine screening for mood disorders should be warranted. Objective: Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) is a significant mental health issue among depressed adolescents. This study aimed to investigate roles of psychological mindedness (PM) and self-compassion among depressed Turkish adolescents with NSSI. The mediating roles of PM and self-compassion between depression severity and NSSI were evaluated. Method: 119 depressed adolescents evaluated at a child psychiatry outpatient clinic in Turkey were categorised based on NSSI experience. Self-compassion and psychological mindedness scales (covering psychological interest, insight, help-seeking, and capacity for change subscales) were measured. Results: PM and self-compassion scores were lower in depressed adolescents with NSSI than adolescents without NSSI. Psychological interest (Odds Ratio (OR): 0.886, Confidence Interval (CI): 0.788–0.996), capacity for change (OR: 0.902, CI: 0.815–0.998), and self-compassion (OR: 0.937, CI: 0.879–0.999) emerged as protective factors against NSSI. Also, significant indirect effects of PM and self-compassion were observed between depression severity and NSSI. Seeking psychological help related to both intrapersonal and interpersonal functions, whereas psychological interest specifically related to interpersonal functions. Conclusions: PM and self-compassion appear as protective factors, with certain PM components linked to intrapersonal and interpersonal functions of NSSI. Thus, integrating interventions to boost PM and self-compassion into depression treatment strategies could be crucial. KEY POINTS: What is already known about this topic: It is known that the level of self-compassion and psychological mindedness (PM) is low in depressed individuals. Although NSSI is frequently associated with depressed adolescents, self-injury is not observed in all depressed cases. NSSI has intrapersonal and interpersonal functions, and the role of these functions varies with different psychopathology, including depression. What this topic adds: Depressed adolescents with higher PM and self-compassion scores are protected from NSSI. Aim: To investigate whether psychological flexibility mediates the relationship between psychotic symptom severity and depression in PWS. Method: A cross‐sectional study was conducted, in which a total of 111 PWS were assessed with DSM‐5 Clinician‐Rated Dimensions of Psychosis Symptom Severity, Calgary Depression Scale for Schizophrenia and Acceptance and Action Questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 25 and PROCESS macro. Results: Significant correlations were found between psychotic symptoms, depression and psychological flexibility. Psychological flexibility partially mediated the relationship between psychotic symptom severity and depression. Discussion: Psychological flexibility could weaken the impact of psychotic symptom severity on depression in PWS. Higher psychotic symptoms were associated with lower psychological flexibility and higher depression. Implications for Practice: Interventions to improve psychological flexibility may prevent depressive symptoms in PWS. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the frequencies of depression, anxiety, insomnia, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms among healthcare workers (HCWs) in Turkey after the COVID-19 vaccinations and to evaluate the associated factors. Methods: A cross-sectional online survey was conducted in Turkey between November and December 2021. We used a demographic data form, COVID-19 vaccination status, the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, General Anxiety Disorder-7, the Insomnia Severity Index, and the National Stressful Events Survey post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) Short Scale. Results: A total of 1013 HCWs participated in the study. Women constituted 68.5% of the participants, 65.4% were physicians, 32.5% had histories of COVID-19, and 98.0% had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Depressive symptoms were exhibited by 50.3% of the HCWs, while 35.7% exhibited anxiety, 44.6% insomnia, and 12.0% PTSD symptoms. Nurses reported significantly greater depression (p<0.001), anxiety (p<0.001), insomnia (p<0.001), and PTSD (p<0.001) symptoms than physicians did. No statistically significant association was determined in terms of the reporting of depression, anxiety, insomnia, and PTSD symptoms and receipt of COVID-19 vaccination. Conclusions: The prevalence of depression, anxiety, insomnia, and PTSD symptoms among health workers decreased from the beginning of the pandemic, although the prevalence of these symptoms was still high. Nurses exhibited greater depressive, anxiety, insomnia, and PTSD symptoms than physicians. Aim: Studies of the effects of COVID‐19, especially post‐acute COVID‐19 syndrome, on psychological health in non‐severe cases are limited. We aimed to evaluate the prevalence and associated risk factors of psychological symptoms, and quality‐of‐life in three groups of outpatients, hospitalized and intensive care patients. Methods: A total 276 patients, previously confirmed with SARS‐CoV‐2 infection, attending the COVID‐19 follow‐up outpatient clinic from December 2020 to July 2021 were interviewed face‐to‐face. In this cross‐sectional, retrospective study, all participants were asked our self‐designed demographic and screening questions to assess their psychological symptoms and administered the WHQOOL‐BREF survey to evaluate quality of life. Results: In screening questions, major depressive disorder symptoms were detected at a rate of 20.3%, generalized anxiety disorder symptoms at a rate of 16.7%, panic attack symptoms at a rate of 10.9%, post‐traumatic stress disorder symptoms at a rate of 28.6% and obsessive‐compulsive disorder symptoms at a rate of 18.1%. The outpatient group with COVID‐19 infection had a higher risk of developing psychological symptoms and decreased quality of life. Conclusion: COVID‐19 infection was found to have a considerable psychological impact on those treated as outpatients despite the less severe course of their illness. Summary statement: What is already known about this topic? Post‐intensive care syndrome affects physical, cognitive and psychological health.It is associated with symptoms such as generalized weakness, memory disturbances, cognitive function impairment, depression, anxiety and post‐traumatic stress disorder.Some physical and psychological symptoms persist for over 12 weeks in some patients and have been classified as 'Post‐acute COVID‐19 Condition or Syndrome' (PCS). What this paper adds? At the post‐acute‐COVID‐19 period, a considerable number of outpatients with COVID‐19 infection were at higher risk for psychological distress symptoms than those who had been treated in the hospital or intensive care unit.Depression, anxiety, panic disorder and PTSD symptoms were found to be higher in outpatients and those with these symptoms were also shown to have a lower quality of life.Our findings highlight the significant psychological impact of COVID‐19 on patients, even after their reported recovery from the acute manifestations of this disease. Aim: The main purpose of this study is to conduct a structural, and criterion-related validity study of the Short Beck Depression Inventory and to make it available for use by healthcare professionals and individuals conducting research in the field. Method: Designed as a cross-sectional scale adaptation study, this research utilized the 21-item Beck Depression Inventory, the Short Beck Depression Inventory, and the Self-Compassion Scale. Data of the study were collected through Google Forms using extensions transmitted via email and WhatsApp. Results: The mean age of the 178 participants was 21.09±2.12. The statistical findings in the confirmatory factor analysis of the Short Beck Depression Inventory, the X2/DF (23.68/13); the ratio was found to be 1.82, Root Mean Square Error of Approximation: 0.068, Standardized Root Mean Square Residual: 0.046, Root Mean Square Residual: 0.027, Normed Fit Index: 0.95, Non-Normed Fit Index: 0.97, Comparative Fit Index: 0.98, Incremental Fit Index: 0.98, Relative Fit Index: 0.93, and Goodness of Fit Index: 0.96. In the criterion-related validity study, a relationship was observed between the Short Beck Depression Inventory and the Beck Depression Inventory and between the Self-Compassion Scale. Conclusion: Upon examining the outcomes of the inventory's confirmatory factor analysis, it was found that all fit indices were within the excellent fit range. The Turkish adaptation of the Short Beck Depression Inventory was concluded to be a highly valid and reliable scale that can be used in clinical settings and research in the adult Turkish population. Background: To examine the prevalence of smoking among medical faculty students in Turkey, and to explore the associations between smoking, depression, and other factors. Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out among medical students in Konya, Turkey, from November 2018 to February 2019. The first section included eight questions pertaining to sociodemographic details. The second comprised nine questions addressing smoking and other harmful habits. The third section involved the Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence while the fourth was the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Results: The study was completed with a total of 1117 participants (90.2% of all students). In regard to smoking, 813 (72.78%) were non-smokers, 98 (8.77%) were ex-smokers, and 222 (19.87%) were active smokers. Notably, 16.29% of students (n = 182) had a high BDI score (≥17). Male sex, good economic status, depression diagnosis at any time in life, and alcohol use were independently associated with active smoking. Being a senior student and regular exercise were independently associated with a low (<17) BDI score, whereas depression diagnosis at any time in life and drug use were independently associated with high (≥17) BDI. Conclusions: Almost 20% of medical school students were active smokers, with about a 2.5-fold higher prevalence among males compared to females. There is a significant association between smoking frequency and symptoms of depression. Policies targeting modifiable risk factors can reduce smoking and depression among future physicians, which can have a strong impact on population-wide smoking. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Psychological violence is the most common form of intimate partner violence (IPV). Psychological IPV places women at significant risk for depressive symptoms. Accordingly, this study examined the moderator role of perceived social support and learned resourcefulness (LR) as personal resources in the relationship between psychological IPV and depression. This cross-sectional study was performed via an online survey platform. A total of 168 Turkish women, with a mean age of 33.8, completed a set of measurement tools. Data were assessed using linear regression and two-way and three-way interactions in moderated multiple regression analyses. The results of the study showed that as expected psychological IPV was directly associated with depression (β =.268, p <.001). To explore the moderator roles, two separate two-way interactions were conducted, and results demonstrated that neither social support nor LR separately moderated the relationship between psychological IPV and depression. However, there was a significant three-way interaction: togetherness of perceived social support with LR moderated the relationship between psychological IPV and depression (β = −.388, p <.05). More specifically, if women exposed to psychological IPV have high perceived social support and high LR, they are less likely to report depressive symptoms. This finding highlights the positive effect of the combination of personal resources on depression linked to psychological IPV's detrimental effects. The findings were discussed in the light of the relevant literature. Background: Elder abuse as an important public health issue is associated in the literature with various physical and psychological symptoms. The aim of the study is to determine the relationship between elder abuse and depression, anxiety, and stress in the elderly living in the community. Method: The cross‐sectional study was completed with 729 older people. Data were collected through a face‐to‐face interview and a survey form. The Geriatric Mistreatment Scale (GMS) was used to evaluate elder abuse and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale‐21 (DASS‐21) was used to evaluate depression, anxiety, and stress. Multivariate regression analysis was performed to determine the relationship between elder abuse and depression, anxiety, and stress. Results: Of the participants, 20.9% were exposed to at least one type of abuse, 9.2% experienced physical abuse, 18.2% experienced psychological abuse, 4.4% experienced neglect, and 7.0% had financial abuse. The general prevalence of moderate to very severe depression, anxiety, and stress among the elderly was respectively 17.1%, 16%, and 10%. As a result of multivariate analysis it was determined that neglect (t = 6245; ß = 4952) and economic abuse (t = 3865; ß = 3350) had statistically significant effects on depression; psychological abuse (t = 2924; ß = 0,992), economic abuse (t = 3127; ß = 3517) and neglect (t = 5913; ß = 4810) had statistically significant effects on anxiety, while psychological (t = 5023; ß = 1756) and economic abuse (t = 5719; ß = 5238) had statistically significant effects on stress (P < 0.05). Conclusion: As a result of the study, it was seen that the prevalence of abuse and depression, anxiety, and stress was high in the elderly. There was also a strong relationship between types of elder abuse and depression, anxiety, and stress. It is recommended that health professionals working with older people to screen them for types of abuse and mental symptoms with the help of appropriate screening tools. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

It has recently been observed that microorganisms in the gut can regulate brain processes through the gut microbiota-brain axis, affecting pain, depression, and sleep quality. Consequently, prebiotics and probiotics may potentially improve physical, psychological, and cognitive states in those with fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) who have an altered microbiota balance. In a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial to determine the effects of probiotic and prebiotic treatments on pain, sleep, quality of life, and psychological distress (depression and anxiety) in FMS, 53 female participants with FMS were randomised to receive either: 1) 4 × 1010 CFUs per day for the 18 patients in the probiotics group; 2) 10 g dose inulin per day for the 17 patients in the prebiotic group; or 3) a placebo for 8 weeks for the 18 patients in this group. The mean ages of the groups were similar and there was no significant difference between the groups. The impact of FMS on pain, sleep quality, quality of life, anxiety, and depressive symptoms were measured at baseline, 4 weeks, and 8 weeks post-intervention. Probiotic supplementation significantly decreased the Beck Depression Index (BDI), Beck Anxiety Index (BAI), and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scores compared to baseline, while prebiotic supplementation only significantly decreased PSQI scores. Moreover, participants who received probiotic treatment presented a significantly reduced Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score compared with those who received placebo treatment, after the interventions. Probiotic supplementation significantly improved sleep quality, depression, anxiety, and pain scores compared to those at baseline in FMS patients, while prebiotic supplementation significantly improved pain scores and sleep quality. The potential benefits of using probiotics for treatment management in FMS patients is supported by the results of the current study and might provide an important strategy to combat FMS-associated diseases. Introduction: The present study aimed to compare the Parietal Lobe (PL) volumes and Cancellation Test (CT) performances of euthymic patients with Bipolar Disorder-1 (BD) and Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), and healthy controls. Methods: The present study included 63 participants in three groups; two patient groups in remission involving patients with BD and MDD diagnosed according to DSM-5 and a control group with healthy individuals. Sociodemographic Data Form, CT, and Hand Preference Questionnaire were applied to all participants. Participant PL volumes were measured with the Cloud-Based Brain Magnetic Resonance Image Segmentation -- Parcellation System. Results: Both patient groups exhibited lower PL volume when compared to the control group, and there was no difference between the patient groups based on PL volume. It was determined that MDD and BB patients scored less in the CT when compared to the control group. There was a weak correlation between right and left PL volumes and CT performances. Conclusion: The present study findings demonstrated that BD and MDD patients in remission exhibited lower PL volume and CT performance when compared to healthy controls, emphasizing that PL could be structurally and functionally significant in the pathophysiology of mood disorders. Background/Aims: Depression is a common symptom in schizophrenia and can negatively affect treatment. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of goal‑oriented dance or movement therapy on depressive symptoms in individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia. Methods: The study was designed as a randomised controlled rater‑blinded study, in which 32 individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia were randomly assigned to either the intervention (dance movement therapy) group or control group. The intervention consisted of twice‑weekly goal‑oriented dance movement therapy sessions, with each session lasting approximately 40–50 minutes, for a total of 8 weeks. Depressive symptoms were evaluated using the Calgary Depression Scale for Schizophrenia. Results: The depressive symptoms before and after the intervention were compared. No significant differences between groups were observed at baseline. There was no change in the control group, whereas a significant improvement on depressive symptoms was observed in the total Calgary Depression Scale for Schizophrenia score in the dance movement therapy group after the intervention. Conclusions: Goal‑oriented dance movement therapy is an effective treatment for the depressive symptoms in schizophrenia patients in addition to conventional treatments. Although the results are favourable, further studies are needed to test its effectiveness. Implications for practice: In the traditional treatment of schizophrenia, it is important to evaluate depression and support the treatment with approaches such as dance movement therapy. Background: The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of fermented oligosaccharide, disaccharide, monosaccharide and polyols (FODMAP) diet therapy and probiotics on irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) symptoms, quality of life and depression in women diagnosed with IBS. Methods: For the study, 52 female IBS patients between the ages of 20 and 55 were enrolled. Individuals were monitored for 6 weeks in two groups. A low‐FODMAP diet was given to the first group and a low‐FODMAP diet plus a probiotic supplement was given to the second group (Lactobacillus rhamnosus). Three‐day food intake records were kept at the start of the study and continued up to its conclusion, with a weekly check‐in in between. At the start and end of the trial, participants completed the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, IBS Quality of Life Scale (IBS‐QOL) and IBS Symptom Severity Score (IBS‐SSS). The Bristol Stool Scale was also used by the subjects to record their daily stool densities. Results: At the end of the study, it was determined that the daily intake of FODMAP (lactose [g] + oligosaccharides [g] + mannitol [g] + sorbitol [g]) decreased significantly in both groups (p < 0.05). At the end of the study, it was determined that the IBS‐SSS, anxiety and depression scores of the individuals in both groups decreased significantly and their IBS‐QOL scores increased significantly (p < 0.05). However, the difference between these values between the groups was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Conclusions: A low‐FODMAP diet has been demonstrated to benefit people by lessening the severity of their IBS symptoms and enhancing their quality of life. No evidence was found, however, to indicate that the FODMAP diet would be more beneficial on these metrics if additional probiotics were used. It should be emphasised that the reaction of probiotic strains may vary depending on the IBS subtype. Highlights: A low fermented oligosaccharide, disaccharide, monosaccharide and polyols (FODMAP) diet may be recommended to apply for 2–8 weeks when symptoms become severe, gradually transitioning the individual to the normal nutrition process when symptoms subside.It is necessary to follow up the energy and nutrient intakes according to individual characteristics during the diet under the guidance of a dietitian to prevent nutrient deficiencies in the long term.Patients should be given dietary advice on choosing high‐fibre, low‐FODMAP‐sourced fruits, vegetables and grains to balance their daily fibre intake.FODMAP restriction reduces the intake of prebiotics, which affects the gastrointestinal microbiota. This study was carried out to determine the effect of watching a comedy movie on depression, anxiety, and stress levels in hospitalized patients with COVID-19. This was a randomized controlled study. The population of the study consisted of patients in the pandemic ward of a university hospital in a province located in the eastern region of Turkey. Power analysis was performed to determine the sample size. The study was completed with 53 in the experimental group and 53 in the control group. Patient information form and Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS) were used for data collection. Patients in the experimental and control groups were homogeneous in terms of descriptive charact eristics (p>0.05). When DASS scores were analyzed according to the descriptive characteristics of the patients in the experimental group, it was determined that patients with seven or more children and chronic diseases had higher anxiety and stress scores (p<0.05). A statistically significant difference was found between the mean depression, anxiety and stress scores of the experimental and control groups and it was determined that the depression, anxiety and stress scores of the experimental group were lower compared to those of the control group. In this study, it was found that watching comedy movies, which can be considered as a complementary practice for hospitalized patients with COVID-19, significantly decreased the depression, anxiety and stress leve ls of the patients. The aim was to examine the relationship between food insecurity and adherence to the Mediterranean diet, academic achievement, depression, anxiety, and stress among university students. This cross-sectional study was conducted with 2039 university students studying in Türkiye. Sixty-eight point two per cent of the students were food insecure. Food security (FS) scores were negatively associated with adherence to the MD and academic achievement, and positively associated with depression, anxiety, and stress scores. A 1-unit increase in FS score resulted in a statistically significant increase of 0.458, 0.468, and 0.400 units in depression, anxiety, and stress scores, respectively, and a significant decrease of 0.140 units in the MD adherence screener score. Food insecurity among university students in Türkiye is very common, and students with food insecurity have low adherence to the MD and low academic achievement and high depression, anxiety, and stress scores. The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of moving meditation exercise training on depression level and sleep quality in the elderly individuals. The present research was carried out between March 2021 and June 2022 as a randomized control group pretest-posttest design. The study sample consisted of 114 individuals 65 years of age and older who were registered to 2 family health centers in a province. The Introductory Information Form, Katz Activities of Daily Living Scale (Katz ADL), International Physical Activity Questionnaire, Geriatric Depression Scale, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index were used in the study. After the 6-week intervention, participants who were in the moving meditation exercise group had lower depression and had good Sleep Quality intensity scores than those in the control group. The average depression, subjective sleep quality, sleep disorder, and overall sleep quality significantly decreased over time in the moving meditation exercise group (P < .05). Moving meditation exercise may reduce the depression level of elderly individuals and improve sleep quality. These results show that moving meditation exercise can be a supportive method for traditional treatments. In consideration of the growing health economy, it may be recommended that nurses incorporate this exercise in their professional practice and compare long-term results with other complementary practices in the Turkish population. Objective: This study described the prevalence of and correlates of depression and anxiety in adult patients with hemophilia A and B. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we investigated patients with hemophilia who were being seen at an adult hemophilia center in Turkey. Participants were screened for depression and anxiety during their annual clinic visit, which included administration of the Beck Depression Inventory and State-Trait Anxiety Scale. Results: Of the 90 patients, 22 (24.4%) met criteria for significant depressive symptoms and 67 (74.4%) met criteria for significant anxiety symptoms. There were no significant associations between depression and any psychosocial or clinical characteristics or adherence to hemophilia prophylaxis, except for educational status. No association was found between state and trait anxiety scores and psychosocial and clinical characteristics other than hemophilia type. After adjusting for confounding factors, multivariable analysis showed that high school education level was associated with depression (OR: 1.87, CI: 1.31–2.36, P =.010) and type B hemophilia was associated with anxiety (OR: 1.32, CI: 1.09–1.75, P =.042). Conclusion: Depression and anxiety are major psychiatric comorbidities in patients with hemophilia in Turkey. Purpose: Depression is an important problem that needs to be taken into consideration, since it affects maternal and infant health. This study was conducted to determine the depressive symptoms of pregnant women and investigate their body image and some related factors. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional design was used in the study, and it was conducted with the participation of 520 pregnant women in Türkiye. The data collection tools included the Personal Information Form, Beck's Depression Inventory, and Body Cathexis Scale. Results: In the study, 24.6% of the pregnant women have depressive symptoms. Pregnant women's low educational level, poor income, chronic diseases, "low" BMI, and whether they smoke or not were found to be related factors to depressive symptoms (p<0.05). Besides, pregnant women with depressive symptoms have lower body image satisfaction (p<0.05). The study found that body image affects depressive symptoms in the ratio of 0.971 times (Beta: -0.029; p<0.05). Conclusion: This study presented that one-fourth of pregnant women have depressive symptoms. It was found that pregnant women's low educational level, poor income, chronic diseases, and low BMI score and whether they smoke or not are the factors related to the depressive symptoms. The objective of this study was to evaluate mental health problems reported by Turkish amateur football players. A total of 4516 Turkish amateur football players were invited to complete an anonymous online survey including demographic and COVID-19 pandemic related questions, the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, General Anxiety Disorder-7 scale, and Athlete Psychological Strain Questionnaire. A total of 1263 players participated in the study (27.9% response rate). Single players reported higher depression and anxiety scores than married players. Higher depression, anxiety, and athletes-specific stress scores were reported by players with an annual income <$5,000 and those reporting an income loss >75% during the COVID-19 pandemic. Players with a sports injury history, psychiatric illness, sleep problems, and perceived inadequate social and/or organizational support reported poorer indices relative to their counterparts. The aim of the study is to determine the levels of death anxiety and death-related depression in the elderly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The sample of the descriptive-relational study includes 344 elderly people registered in a family health center. It was determined that the most dreaded fear reported by the elderly who got COVID-19 infection was death, and there was a highly significant positive correlation between death anxiety and death-related depression ratings of the elderly and that as the average death anxiety score of the elderly rises, so does the degree of death-related depression. Background: Glioblastoma, the most aggressive primary brain tumour in adults, poses significant challenges for patients and their caregivers. This study investigates a range of clinical parameters, such as symptoms, tumour characteristics, presence of seizures, mental status, and depression/anxiety, in glioblastoma patients. The rapid deterioration of physical and cognitive functions experienced by patients can have profound effects on both patients and their relatives throughout the course of the disease. The objective of this study was to examine and compare psychological symptoms between glioblastoma patients and their relatives. Materials and Methods: The study included 98 adult patients with glioblastoma who underwent pre‐ and postoperative cognitive assessments using the Mini‐Mental State Examination (MMSE). The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) was also used to evaluate and compare psychological symptoms of patients and their relatives over time. Seizures were seen in 45.9% of patients, and the mean age of the patients was 60.1 ± 13.8 years. The patients were evaluated at various time intervals before and after surgery, and the data were retrospectively analyzed. Results: The study found that before surgery, the anxiety levels of caregivers were significantly higher than those of patients during all evaluation periods. Additionally, the depression scores of caregivers were significantly higher than those of patients only in the first month following the operation. There were no significant differences in depression scores between patients and caregivers in the other assessment intervals. The average cognitive level of patients, as assessed by the MMSE scale was 22.4 before the operation and 20.9 after the operation. Conclusion: Glioblastoma has a significant impact on the mental health and emotional well‐being of both patients and their relatives. This study highlights the importance of providing early support to both patients and their relatives before surgery. The study's strength is that it focuses on an early time point, prior to surgery, where both patients and their relatives are already affected and may require additional support. The results of this study can help healthcare professionals to better understand the psychological impact of glioblastoma and provide more targeted support to patients and their caregivers. Introduction:This study aims at examining the direct and indirect mediating role of the intolerance of uncertainty (IU) variable in the relationship between COVID-19-induced OCS and depression in a Turkish adolescent sample. Methods: The sample consists of 427 people (248 females, 179 males) between the ages of 14-18, living in Turkey and selected by convenient sampling method. The data were collected through the COVID-19 Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Scale, Depression, Stress and Anxiety Scale (DASS-21) and Intolerance of Uncertainty Index-A for Children (IUI-A-C). Results: The findings show that COVID-19-induced OCS have strong predictive effects on depression symptoms. The findings also revealed that IU directly and indirectly mediates the relationship between COVID-19 OCD and depression symptoms, as well as its negative predictive effect for depression symptoms. Discussion: It can be said that OCS caused by COVID-19 trigger depressive symptoms in adolescents. In addition, it can be thought that IU, with its mediator effect, may play a triggering role in the emergence of COVID-induced OCS. Another research finding is that IU may be an important transdiagnostic construct for depressive symptoms. Limitations: The current study has also some limitations. First, the study was carried out as a cross-sectional study. The fact that the sample group is non-clinical and a clinical group is not included can be considered as second delimitation. Third, the current study just used scales to evaluate the students' self-report. At this point, a different perspective can be developed by taking the opinions of the parents. Conclusions: The results show that COVID-19-induced OCS increase depressive symptoms in Turkish adolescents and IU has a mediating effect in this relationship. Sluggish cognitive tempo (SCT) (cognitive disengagement syndrome) (CDS) describes a cluster of symptoms including slowness, lethargy, and daydreaming. This study aims to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the Child and Adolescent Behavior Inventory (CABI-SCT) scale and its relationship to other psychological difficulties. A total of 328 children and adolescents aged between 6-18 years were included in the study. CABI-SCT, Revised Child Anxiety and Depression Scale (RCADS), Barkley Child Attention Scale (BCAS), ADHD Rating Scale-IV, and Strengths and Challenges Questionnaire (SDQ) were administered to parents of participants. Reliability analysis demonstrated good internal consistency and reliability. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the one-factor model of the Turkish version of CABI-SCT is an acceptable construct. This study supports the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of CABI-SCT for use in children and adolescents providing initial data concerning the psychometric properties and difficulties associated with the Turkish version of the CABI-SCT. Introduction: Cervical dystonia (CD) is a movement disorder characterized by cranial muscle overactivity, leading to an abnormal head posture. CD patients often experience mood disorders and sleep disorders due to the disturbing body image associated with deformities, and these symptoms can be at least as disabling as motor symptoms. This study investigated the frequency of non-motor symptoms and their relation to CD severity. Methods: The study comprises 26 clients with CD and 26 healthy volunteers. The clinical severity of CD was assessed by the Toronto Western Spasmodic Torticollis Rating Scale. Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Standardized Mini-Mental State Examination (SMMSE), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and Epworth Sleepiness Scale were used to evaluate non-motor symptoms in patients with CD and healthy controls. All dystonia patients we included were receiving botulinum toxin therapy. Results: The mean BDI and BAI scores were significantly higher in the patient group (p=0.006 and p=0.001, respectively). The mean score of SMMSE was considerably lower in the patient group than that in HCs (p=0.014). The frequency of excessive daytime sleepiness did not differ between groups. The patients with CD had worse sleep quality than HCs (p=0.001). According to the subgroup analysis of PSQI, sleep onset latency and sleep disturbance were significantly higher in the patient group (p=0.001 and p=0.012, respectively). Furthermore, sleep duration and sleep efficiency were significantly lower in the patient group (p=0.001 and p=0.001, respectively). No significant correlation was found between non-motor symptoms and disease severity, age, and duration of disease in the CD (p>0.05). Discussion and Conclusion: CD causes functional impairment in many patients and leads to difficulties such as lack of self-confidence, timidity, avoidance of social movements, and depressive mood. Objective: The novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has affected all over the world in many areas such as health, economy, sociology, psychology, and education. Healthcare workers (HCWs), who are at the forefront in the fight against the pandemic, are adversely affected both physically and mentally. The aim of our study was to evaluate the relationship between depression, anxiety and stress levels of HCWs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Material and Method: In our study, which is a quantitative research, an online questionnaire was applied to collect data. An online survey was administered for data collection. Whether the average scores obtained in line with the answers given by the participants to the scale differed according to the demographic variables of the participants were analyzed. Results: The depression, anxiety and stress levels of HCWs were found to be high. There were significant differences between the depression, anxiety and stress levels of HCWs and their demographic characteristics. The levels of depression, anxiety, and stress was higher in women than in males, higher in singles than in married individuals, more prevalent in younger individuals than in middle-aged and older ones, and more prevalent in high school and associate's degree holders than in master and doctorate holders. Nurses had higher levels of depression, anxiety and stress compared to physicians. Conclusion: Our study results suggest that depression, anxiety and stress levels of HCWs are high. Introduction: Studies have found that sexual minorities, including gay and bisexual men, have more mental health problems than the heterosexual population. The aim of this study is to examine the prevalence of depression in gay and bisexual men and its relationship with some socio-demographic variables. Methods: Participants were recruited from groups on social media such as "Facebook," "Instagram," and an LGBT app. Only homosexual and bisexual men were included in the study. Each participant completed the personal information form and the Beck Depression Inventory. Results: It was found that 28.7% of the 418 homosexual and bisexual men included in the study had mild depression, 29.7% had moderate depression, and 9.1% had severe depression. No statistically significant difference was found between the depression rates of homosexual and bisexual men. Discussion and Conclusion: At the end of the study, it was determined that the rate of depression in homosexual and bisexual men was higher than in the general population. Smoking, alcohol, and substance abuse rates are also higher in this group than in the general population. Objective: To investigate the cognitive state, psychological problems such as depression and anxiety, and pain in the musculoskeletal system among young adults with post-COVID-19 (long COVID) syndrome. Methods: This descriptive study included 361 students studying at the Vocational School of Health Services of Bingöl University in Turkey. Data were collected using the Socio-Demographic Information form, the Beck's Depression Inventory, the Cognitive Appraisal Scale, and the Visual Analogue Scale for pain. Results: Compared to those without COVID-19, the mean depression score, cognitive appraisal score, and mean Visual Analogue Scale score of the young adults with COVID-19 were significantly higher. There was no significant difference in pain assessment at rest between those with COVID-19 and those without COVID-19. Objective:At a time when the spread of the COVID-19 virus is very rapid in Turkey, there is not enough information about the course of the pandemic and the effects of the COVID-19 infection in pregnancy, the family planning clinic of our hospital evaluates the levels of anxiety and depression in patients with demand for termination of pregnancy and the desire to terminate the pregnancy for COVID-19. We planned to investigate whether it was associated with concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods:132 patients with pregnancies below 10 weeks who applied to Etlik Zübeyde Hanım Training and Research Hospital Family Planning Outpatient Clinic with a request for termination of pregnancy in April 2020 and July 2020 were included. Results:The reasons for termination of pregnancy were stated as 60% not wanting another child, 23.5% economic reasons, 9.8% risky drug use, and 6.8% other reasons. None of the patients included in the study decided to terminate their pregnancy due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The mean total score of the patients on the Beck Depression Inventory was 14 (0-43). Forty-six patients (34.8%) were evaluated as minimally depressed, 30 (22.7%) mild depression, 38 (28.8%) moderate depression, and 18 (13.6%) severe depression. The mean total score of the Beck Anxiety Inventory was 5 (0-44). One hundred and fifteen (87.1%) patients were classified as mild, 14 (10.6%) patients as moderate, and 3 (2.3%) patients as severe anxiety. Conclusion: During the COVID-19 pandemic, there is an increase in the frequency of anxiety and depression in patients who have undergone pregnancy termination and especially who live with an elderly relative. It was observed that the COVID-19 pandemic was not effective in the decision to terminate the pregnancy and, similar to the previous data, not wanting another child was the most common reason. Objective: Anxiety and depression often coexist in patients with chronic diseases. We evaluated the nutritional status of diabetic patients and its relationship to anxiety and depression. Methods: Demographic, clinical information (disease duration, treatment, hospitalization), and anthropometric measurements (weight, height, waist, and hip circumference) were recorded. The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) was used to assess anxiety and depression.Twenty-four hour food diaries were obtained to determine daily energy and nutrient intake. Results: Among the 222 patients in this study, rates of anxiety, depression, and anxious depression were 23.8%, 21.6%, and 12.2%, respectively. Those who skipped medication/insulin doses and did not exercise regularly had significantly higher anxiety and depression scores. Anxiety and depression scores were positively correlated with disease duration, waist circumference, waist/hip ratio, and waist/height ratio. Being married, engaging in regular exercise, and increased vitamin B6 were inversely related to anxiety and depression. According to food records, patients with anxiety and depression consumed a higher proportion of energy from dietary carbohydrates. Anxiety and depression scores were negatively related to dietary energy, protein, fat, vitamins (retinol, group B, C, and D), and mineral (K, Mg, P, Fe, Zn, Cu) intake. Conclusions: Maintaining healthy body weight, complying with medication/insulin treatment, and engaging in regular exercise may help in the prevention of anxiety and depression in hospitalized diabetic patients in Turkey. Alternatively, anxiety and depression may adversely affect body weight, compliance with treatment, and regular exercise. Prospective studies are needed to determine the direction of causation. Introduction: Depression which is one of the mood disorders, causes a decrease in the work that requires participation during the day, and affects interpersonal relationships. It is known to be a fairly common mental disorder, especially among women. The aim of this systematic review is to investigate the effect of women's employment status on the severity of depressive symptoms in Turkey. Method: We searched the databases of YÖK Thesis Center, ULAKBIM, Web of Science and Scopus to detect those studies aiming to compare the employed women with housewives in terms of the depressive symptoms measured with validated self-report scales in Turkish. Results: Of the 283 studies reported in Turkish or English as an article or dissertation, 10 met the inclusion criteria for meta-analysis. The random effects meta-analysis conducted with R 4.0.1, meta and metafor package revealed a slight and statistically nonsignificant effect of the employment status on women's depressive scores (g=-0.13 95% Confidence Interval [CI] [-0.41, 0.14]). Heterogeneity between studies was estimated at a high level (I2=90.3% 95% CI [84.3%, 94%]). Results of the metaregression analyses implied that neither the sample size (R2=0.00%) nor the publication year (R2=5.58%) were among the main sources the heterogeneity. The findings suggest that the risk of having depressive symptoms is nearly same in employed women as in housewives. Introduction: It is aimed to report the effects of bilateral subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation (STN-DBS) on motor symptoms, neuropsychiatric symptoms, and quality of life in Parkinson's Disease (PD) patients. Methods: The results of 22 patients with PD, who had undergone bilateral STN-DBS, were analyzed. The Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) was applied to assess the patients' clinical characteristics before surgery and 6-, and 12-month follow-up after surgery. The quality of life of the patients was evaluated with the Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39). Neuropsychological tests including Minnesota Impulse Control Disorders Interview (MIDI), Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Lille Apathy Rating Scale (LARS), and Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) were also routinely performed at baseline and 6 months and 12 months after surgery. Results: The mean age of patients was 57.3±8.8 years. Fourteen patients (63.6%) were male. Significant improvements were seen in UPDRS-part- II, UPDRS-part-III UPDRS-part-IV, and PDQ-39 in the follow-ups after the surgery. No significant change was observed in 6- and 12-month followup visits for BDI, HADS, MMSE, and LARS, compared to baseline. A depressive episode, requiring antidepressant treatment was recorded in four (18.1%) patients. Before DBS surgery, eight patients had at least one current impulse control behaviors (ICBs). Among these eight patients; ICBs disappeared in one patient, did not change in two patients, and worsened in five patients after STN-DBS treatment. Conclusion: In patients with a history of psychiatric disease, bilateral STN-DBS treatment may aggravate psychiatric symptoms such as depression, and ICBs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Cardiovascular risk in depression has been investigated in small clinical samples and population-based studies revealing inconclusive results. However, cardiovascular risk in drug-naive depressed patients has not been tested extensively. Methods: Body mass index-based Framingham Cardiovascular Risk Scores and soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) levels were used to assess the risk of cardiovascular disease in drug-naive depressed patients and healthy volunteers. Conclusion: There were no significant differences in Framingham Cardiovascular Risk Scores and individually assessed risk variables between patients and healthy controls (HC). Both groups were comparable in terms of sICAM-1. Results: The widely recognized association between cardiovascular risk and major depression might be more prominent in older depressed patients and patients with recurring episodes. Oral lichen planus (OLP) is an inflammatory condition of oral mucosa and skin. The present study compared salivary cortisol, depression and anxiety levels of patients with erosive and reticular OLP and healthy controls. In this case-control trial, 69 individuals (23 healthy, 23 erosive OLP and 23 reticular OLP patients) were selected. The participants completed the hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS) and 5 mL of their unstimulated saliva were collected. Salivary cortisol levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). The comparison of anxiety and depression scores as well as salivary cortisol levels was done one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test while the paired comparisons were done by Turkey post hoc test. The mean anxiety score in erosive OLP patients was significantly higher than that in the control and reticular OLP groups. The reticular OLP and control groups had no significant difference in this respect. The three groups were not significantly different regarding the depression score or salivary level of cortisol. The correlation between depression and anxiety was significant but salivary level of cortisol had no correlation with anxiety or depression. Cyberbullying is becoming increasingly widespread as individuals use technology more widely and frequently. Recent studies have shown a growing vulnerability for cyberbullying and cybervictimization, particularly in the adolescent population. We argue that dysfunctional metacognitions, which have been found to be prominent in various psychiatric disorders, may also play a role in predicting cyberbullying and cybervictimization over and above a variety of established factors including daily Internet use, social media use, depression and anxiety. For this purpose, we recruited 121 adolescents diagnosed with major depressive disorder (MDD) and 122 adolescents diagnosed with anxiety disorders (AD) from the child and adolescent psychiatric department of 'Çankırı State Hospital' along with age and gender matched healthy controls (n = 120). Participants completed the DSM‐5 Depression and Anxiety Severity Scales, the Social Media Disorder Scale (SMDS), the Metacognitions Questionnaire for Children (MCQ‐C) and the Revised Cyberbullying Inventory‐II (RCBI‐II). Cybervictimization scores were found to be higher in the MDD and AD groups when compared with healthy controls. Cyberbullying scores in the MDD group were higher than healthy controls. Additionally, the Superstition, Punishment and Responsibility subdimension of the MCQ‐C was a significant predictor of cybervictimization in the AD group while controlling for daily Internet use, social media use and anxiety. However, metacognitions were not associated with cyberbullying in the MDD and AD groups, as well as with cybervictimization in the MDD group. We concluded that dysfunctional metacognitions may be a preventive therapeutic target in reducing the impact of cyberbullying in adolescents with AD. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: In patients with psoriasis, psychiatric co-morbidities accompany quite frequently. Aims and Objectives: We aimed to compare the effects of methotrexate and biologics on psychiatric comorbidities, and also examine the relationship of these symptoms with systemic inflammation parameters. Materials and Methods: Sixty patients with psoriasis treated with biologics or methotrexate were enrolled. At the baseline and the 24th week of the treatment, the patients filled Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI), inflammation was assessed with serum C-reactive protein (CRP) and tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) levels. Results: The decrease in BAI and BDI scores at the 24th week was significant in both the groups.When the decrease in BAI and BDI scores of the two groups were compared, no significant differences were found between the groups. The decrease in DLQI scores of the patients who received biologics was significantly superior compared to the patients who received methotrexate (P = 0.007). There was no significant correlation between the change in serum inflammation parameters and the decrease in the BDI/BAI scores. Conclusions: In patients with psoriasis, biologics and methotrexate reduce the symptoms of depression and anxiety. The difference between the two groups was insignificant. Biologics improve the quality of life better than methotrexate. Systemic inflammation parameters do not reflect the changes in these symptoms in such patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
