This study examines the mediating effect of democratization processes on the relationship between various media factors (content, reach and audience, influence and power, technological platforms, and regulatory environment) and the shaping of public opinion in Jordan. The study utilizes a Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach to analyze data collected from a sample of 400 journalists and politicians. The findings reveal that democratization processes negatively mediate the effect of media on shaping public opinion in Jordan. As democratization progresses, the influence of media factors on public opinion becomes less significant. This suggests that factors such as increased political participation, freedom of expression, pluralism, and regulatory frameworks play a crucial role in shaping public opinion independently from media influence. The practical implications of this study highlight the need for policymakers to consider the mediating effect of democratization processes when formulating media policies. It is crucial to promote and protect democratic principles to ensure a balanced and diverse media landscape. Media organizations should adapt their strategies to engage with an increasingly participatory and informed citizenry. Leveraging new technological platforms and embracing diverse content can enhance their ability to reach and influence the public effectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
