Digital technologies have become ubiquitous in many areas and activities. Digital applications or Apps have revealed to be very accessible and versatile. However digital social networks continue to be very popular because they promote spaces for dialogue where interpersonal relations are fostered, and isolation is reduced. The literature has been presenting the potential of digital technologies in promoting improvements in the ageing process. This paper aims to present the results of research conducted with 50+ year old's, who attend the Senior University. The researches were qualitative in the scope of an exploratory study. One of the researches conducted used Facebook to explore the impact on isolation and interpersonal relationships. Other research made use of Apps Neuronation and Peak for stimulus promotion and cognitive training. The results indicate that older people who use Facebook may have a better active ageing, by increasing interpersonal relationships and reducing isolation. It has also been shown that using Apps can be a good option for stimulation and cognitive training, helping to prevent potential dementia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
