The advancement of 6G networks is driven by the need for customer-centric communication and network control, particularly in applications such as intelligent transport systems. These applications rely on outdoor communication in extremely high-frequency (EHF) bands, including millimeter wave (mmWave) frequencies exceeding 30 GHz. However, EHF signals face challenges such as higher attenuation, diffraction, and reflective losses caused by obstacles in outdoor environments. To overcome these challenges, 6G networks must focus on system designs that enhance propagation characteristics by predicting and mitigating diffraction, reflection, and scattering losses. Strategies such as proper handovers, antenna orientation, and link adaptation techniques based on losses can optimize the propagation environment. Among the network components, aerial networks, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL), are particularly susceptible to diffraction losses due to surrounding buildings in urban and suburban areas. Traditional statistical models for estimating the height of tall objects like buildings or trees are insufficient for accurately calculating diffraction losses due to the dynamic nature of user mobility, resulting in increased latency unsuitable for ultra-low latency applications. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a deep learning framework that utilizes easily accessible Google Street View imagery to estimate building heights and predict diffraction losses across various locations. The framework enables real-time decision-making to improve the propagation environment based on users' locations. The proposed approach achieves high accuracy rates, with an accuracy of 39% for relative error below 2%, 83% for relative error below 4%, and 96% for both relative errors below 7% and 10%. Compared to traditional statistical methods, the proposed deep learning approach offers significant advantages in height prediction accuracy, demonstrating its efficacy in supporting the development of 6G networks. Due to stochastic wireless environment, the process of modulation classification has become a challenging task. Because of its powerful feature extraction ability and promising performance over the conventional schemes, deep learning (DL) models are employed to automatic modulation classification (AMC) problems. Most of the conventional models proposed are tested for the limited set of modulation schemes transmitted over additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels without considering the effect of multipath fading and Doppler shift. The next-generation networks use adaptive and higher-order quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) schemes for higher spectral efficiency. The classification accuracy of conventional DL-based AMC schemes drastically reduces, when different order QAM modulation schemes are accommodated. In this work, different scaling factors are selected for the generation of M -QAM frames. The combination of scaling factors, which maximize the classification accuracy is chosen. A convolutional neural network (CNN) with six stages is employed for AMC. The simulation results show that the classification accuracy of proposed scheme is higher than the conventional DL-based schemes under various signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) conditions. Biometric technology is fast gaining pace as a veritable developmental tool. So far, biometric procedures have been predominantly used to ensure identity and ear recognition techniques continue to provide very robust research prospects. This paper proposes to identify and review present techniques for ear biometrics using certain parameters: machine learning methods, and procedures and provide directions for future research. Ten databases were accessed, including ACM, Wiley, IEEE, Springer, Emerald, Elsevier, Sage, MIT, Taylor & Francis, and Science Direct, and 1121 publications were retrieved. In order to obtain relevant materials, some articles were excused using certain criteria such as abstract eligibility, duplicity, and uncertainty (indeterminate method). As a result, 73 papers were selected for in-depth assessment and significance. A quantitative analysis was carried out on the identified works using search strategies: source, technique, datasets, status, and architecture. A Quantitative Analysis (QA) of feature extraction methods was carried out on the selected studies with a geometric approach indicating the highest value at 36%, followed by the local method at 27%. Several architectures, such as Convolutional Neural Network, restricted Boltzmann machine, auto-encoder, deep belief network, and other unspecified architectures, showed 38%, 28%, 21%, 5%, and 4%, respectively. Essentially, this survey also provides the various status of existing methods used in classifying related studies. A taxonomy of the current methodologies of ear recognition system was presented along with a publicly available occlussion and pose sensitive black ear image dataset of 970 images. The wide use of internet-enabled devices has not left the healthcare sector untouched. The health status of each individual is being monitored irrespective of his/her medical conditions. The advent of such medical devices is beneficial not only for patients but also for physicians, hospitals, and insurance companies. It makes healthcare fast, reliable, and hassle-free. People can keep an eye on their blood pressure, pulse rate, etc., and thus take preventive measures on their own. In hospitals, too, the Internet of Things (IoT) is being deployed for various tasks such as monitoring oxygen and blood sugar levels, electrocardiograms (ECGs), etc. The IoT in healthcare also reduces the cost of various ailments through fast and rigorous data analysis. The prediction of diseases through machine-learning techniques based on symptoms has become a promising concept. There may also be a situation where real-time analysis is required. In such a latency-sensitive situation, fog computing plays a vital role. Establishing communication every time with the cloud is not required with the introduction of fog and thus the latency is reduced. Healthcare is a latency-sensitive application area. So, the deployment of fog computing in this area is of vital importance. Our work focuses on improving the efficiency of the system for the precise diagnosis of and recommendations for heart disease. Healthcare systems in recent times have witnessed timely diagnoses with a high level of accuracy. Internet of Medical Things (IoMT)-enabled deep learning (DL) models have been used to support medical diagnostics in real time, thus resolving the issue of late-stage diagnosis of various diseases and increasing performance accuracy. The current approach for the diagnosis of leukemia uses traditional procedures, and in most cases, fails in the initial period. Hence, several patients suffering from cancer have died prematurely due to the late discovery of cancerous cells in blood tissue. Therefore, this study proposes an IoMT-enabled convolutional neural network (CNN) model to detect malignant and benign cancer cells in the patient's blood tissue. In particular, the hyper-parameter optimization through radial basis function and dynamic coordinate search (HORD) optimization algorithm was used to search for optimal values of CNN hyper-parameters. Utilizing the HORD algorithm significantly increased the effectiveness of finding the best solution for the CNN model by searching multidimensional hyper-parameters. This implies that the HORD method successfully found the values of hyper-parameters for precise leukemia features. Additionally, the HORD method increased the performance of the model by optimizing and searching for the best set of hyper-parameters for the CNN model. Leukemia datasets were used to evaluate the performance of the proposed model using standard performance indicators. Embedded systems technology is undergoing a phase of transformation owing to the novel advancements in computer architecture and the breakthroughs in machine learning applications. The areas of applications of embedded machine learning (EML) include accurate computer vision schemes, reliable speech recognition, innovative healthcare, robotics, and more. However, there exists a critical drawback in the efficient implementation of ML algorithms targeting embedded applications. Machine learning algorithms are generally computationally and memory intensive, making them unsuitable for resource-constrained environments such as embedded and mobile devices. In order to efficiently implement these compute and memory-intensive algorithms within the embedded and mobile computing space, innovative optimization techniques are required at the algorithm and hardware levels. To this end, this survey aims at exploring current research trends within this circumference. First, we present a brief overview of compute intensive machine learning algorithms such as hidden Markov models (HMM), k-nearest neighbors (k-NNs), support vector machines (SVMs), Gaussian mixture models (GMMs), and deep neural networks (DNNs). Furthermore, we consider different optimization techniques currently adopted to squeeze these computational and memory-intensive algorithms within resource-limited embedded and mobile environments. Additionally, we discuss the implementation of these algorithms in microcontroller units, mobile devices, and hardware accelerators. Conclusively, we give a comprehensive overview of key application areas of EML technology, point out key research directions and highlight key take-away lessons for future research exploration in the embedded machine learning domain.
