Purpose: Growth Monitoring and Promotion (GMP) services is the preventive and promotive activity that uses growth monitoring, measuring, and interpreting growth, to facilitate communication and interaction with the caregiver to promote child growth. This study aimed to assess GMP service utilization and associated factor among children less than two years in Decha district, Southwest Ethiopia 2023. Methodology: We conducted Community-based crosssectional study design to assess GMP service utilization and associated factor among children less than two years in Decha district, Southwest Ethiopia. The multistage sampling technique was employed for the study. Multivariable binary logistic regression analysis was used to determine the presence of statistically significant association GMP service utilization and independent variable at p_value <0.5 and adjusted odd ratio (AOR) value with 95% confidence interval (CI). Results: This study revealed that 47% [95% CI, 42.74%, 51.26%] of the children utilized GMP services. Availability of growth monitoring service in the nearest health facility [AOR 5.829; 95% CI, 2.588-13.129], Mother or caregivers who visited antenatal care service [AOR 6.449; 95% CI, 2.078-20.019], mother or care givers who delivered in Health facility [AOR 3.417 95% CI; 1.162-10.053], favorable mother or caregivers attitude toward GMPservice [AOR 2.438 95% CI; 1.400-4.247] and mother or caregivers who have good knowledge toward GMP service [AOR 3.015; 95%CI, 1.729-5.259] were significantly associated with utilization of GMP services. Background: Pregnant women in urban poor societies are vulnerable groups. Due to low financial capacity, there are obstacles to accessing delivery in an institution for poor women in urban areas. The study analyses factors associated with the delivery place among pregnant women in urban poor society in Indonesia. Materials and Methods: The study analyzed secondary data from the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS). A total of 1,562 samples were childbearing-age women (15–49 years) who gave birth in an urban poor society in Indonesia in the last 5 years. The study examined some variables, such as delivery place, age, education, employment, marital status, parity, insurance, knowledge of pregnancy danger, antenatal care (ANC), the autonomy of health, and family finance autonomy. The study employed binary logistic regression in the final stage. Results: The results show that age is associated with the place of delivery. The higher the education, the higher the possibility for delivery in an institution. Being employed and having partners are protective factors for women in institution delivery. The likelihood of giving birth in a medical facility decreases as more children are born alive. In addition, having health insurance, thorough ANC visits, knowledge of pregnancy danger symptoms, and health autonomy are protective factors for pregnant women having deliveries in medical facilities. On the contrary, pregnant women who rely solely on family financing have a higher chance of delivering in a medical facility. Conclusion: The study concluded that 10 variables were associated with pregnant women's delivery in Indonesia's urban poor society: age, education, employment, marital, parity, insurance, pregnancy danger knowledge, ANC, health autonomy, and family finance autonomy. The authors assessed the knowledge of obstetric danger signs and its determinants among 405 pregnant women in their 3rd trimester receiving antenatal care. The study was cross-sectional. Those knowledgeable of danger signs during pregnancy were 24.9%, labor 29.9%, postpartum 15.6% and in the new-born 36.0%. There were associations between age, higher level of education, gestational age and social class and knowledge of obstetric danger signs. Our findings suggest the need to increase the awareness of obstetric danger signs through provision of information, education, and empower the family. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Antenatal care (ANC) is vital in maternal and child health care strategy. In this study, we conducted an exploratory analysis to identify the utilization rate of ANC services and factors associated with the use of ANC services among mothers of children under one year. Design: A cross-sectional household survey was conducted in Nong Son district, Quang Nam, from September 1, 2020, to December 1, 2020, Subjects: The study was conducted on 347 mothers with children under one-year-old living in Nong Son district, Quang Nam province. Primary outcome measure: A multivariate logistic regression model was used to examine the association between all potential factors and the utilization of ANC services. Results: Ethnic minority women used ANC less than those in the Kinh group (6.6 times). Women who achieved a lower education level used ANC less than those with a higher education level (3.1 times). The women who had two or more pregnancies or had pregnancy planning and standard birth delivery were more likely to use ANC services than those who were not. Research has shown that ethnicity, education level, number of pregnancies, planning a pregnancy, and delivery method were related to the status of using ANC services in women with children under one-year-old (p<0.05). Conclusion: Continuously strengthening information education and communication (IEC) on ANC services and supporting pregnant women in buying health insurance are needed to improve ANC utilization among pregnant women, predominantly ethnic minority women. Pregnant refugee patients are especially vulnerable to adverse perinatal outcomes. Detailed characterization of this heterogenous population will identify risk factors and thus guide contextualized initiatives for improved patient care. A retrospective cohort study of obstetrical refugee patients at a tertiary-care hospital in Toronto, Ontario. Of 196 pregnant refugees, 48% were fluent English speaking, 57% had poor social support, and 42% lived in a shelter. Eighty-seven percent started prenatal care after the first trimester, which was associated with delivery of a large-for-gestational-age infant (p = 0.043). Sixteen percent experienced family violence, which was associated with poor fetal aggregate outcomes (p = 0.03). There were significantly higher rates of pre-eclampsia and Cesarean sections in refugee versus non-refugee patients (p < 0.05). Pregnant refugees are at risk for psychosocial challenges and experience significantly worse obstetrical outcomes compared with non-refugees. Quality improvement initiatives should focus on access to early prenatal care, stable housing, and support for victims of family violence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The COVID‐19 pandemic has dramatically affected pregnant people's prenatal care, labor, and delivery experiences. Given these rapid changes, providers have needed to be proactive in sharing information about COVID‐19‐related care impacts. The purpose of this study was to investigate: (a) Whether patient demographics or disrupted care (eg, canceled appointments and rapid shift to telehealth) is associated with patient‐reported information sharing from the providers; and (b) Whether patient‐reported provider information sharing or disruptions to care are associated with patient satisfaction with provider. Methods: Data come from a convenience sample of 1999 pregnant people living in the United States who completed an online survey between April 16 and May 7 2020. Results: Thirty‐eight percent of participants said that their provider had not discussed how the pandemic would affect their care during pregnancy, labor, or delivery. Participants with lower education, less income, or whose appointments had been canceled or rescheduled because of the pandemic were significantly less likely to report information sharing. Provider satisfaction was significantly lower among participants who did not report information sharing, those who had appointments by way of telehealth, and those who reported that all their appointments had been rescheduled/canceled. Discussion: At the beginning of the pandemic, there were significant socioeconomic inequities in reported information sharing by the providers, which in turn was negatively associated with provider satisfaction. Providers need to be aware of the role implicit bias may play in information sharing—both generally and during public health crises—and consider ways to reduce the impacts of disrupted care delivery on patient satisfaction. If left unaddressed, perceived poor provider communication and associated low satisfaction with providers could contribute to adverse perinatal outcomes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The delivery of nutrition‐related interventions and counselling during antenatal care is critical for a healthy pregnancy for both mother and child. However, the accuracy of maternal reports of many of these services during household surveys has not yet been examined. Our objectives were to assess the validity of the maternal reports of 10 antenatal nutrition interventions, including counselling, and examine associates between maternal characteristics and accuracy. Maternal report of services received collected during a post‐partum survey was compared to the gold standard, the direct observation of all women's antenatal care visits. Individual‐level validity was assessed by calculating indicator sensitivity, specificity and area under the operating curve (AUC). The inflation factor (IF) measured population‐level bias. For five indicators, the high true coverage limited our ability to assess the validity of the maternal reports. There were no indicators that had both high individual‐level validity (AUC > 0.70) and low population bias (0.75 < IF < 1.25). Indicators with greater true coverage estimates had higher sensitivity and lower specificity estimates compared to those indicators with lower true coverage. There were no maternal characteristics associated with the accuracy of the report. Maternal report of antenatal nutrition‐related interventions and counselling during household surveys was found to have variable validity across indicators. Additional research in settings with varying coverage levels should be considered to best inform antenatal care coverage measurement in household surveys. Objectives The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) identifies women with depressive symptoms in pregnancy. Our primary objective was to determine the prevalence of EPDS screen-positive women delivering on our no prenatal care (laborist) service and to compare these patients to private patients delivering with prenatal care. Methods Retrospective cohort analysis of EPDS scores during January 1, 2015 to June 18, 2015 was conducted. Scores ≥ 10 were considered at-risk. Results were analyzed as an aggregate and then as no prenatal care versus prenatal care. Characteristics for patients with at-risk scores (EPDS ≥ 10) versus low-risk scores (EPDS < 10) were quantified. Results Analysis occurred on 970 women. EPDS ≥ 10 occurred in 12.4% (n = 120/970). Positive EPDS score was 21.1% without prenatal care versus 10.9% with adequate prenatal care (P = 0.003). Maternal demographics and delivery characteristics were clinically similar in patients with prenatal care compared to no prenatal care. Private insurance was more common in patients with prenatal care compared to no prenatal care (23.5 versus 8.1%, P = 0.0001). However, analysis of patients with EPDS > 10 showed non-significant distributions of ethnicity, private insurance, Medicaid, or no insurance compared to patients with EPDS < 10. Conclusion for Practice Patients without prenatal care who arrive solely for urgent "drop-in" delivery have a measurable increased risk factor for postpartum depressive symptoms. Ethnicity and payor status were related to adequacy of prenatal care but were not significant variables when analyzing patients with EPDS > 10. Laborist services providing care to "drop-in" patients should recognize this increased risk and develop policies for screening, referral and follow-up of at-risk patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
