Significant changes have been made to the design of the sector magnet of the RIKEN SRC (superconducting ring cyclotron). The changes are: (1) the cyclotron is almost completely covered with soft-iron slabs of 0.8 m in thickness, except in the central region, to reduce stray fields, and (2) the cold-pole scheme has been replaced with a warm-pole scheme. Owing to this magnetic shield, the stray fields, magneto-motive forces, electromagnetic forces, and so on are significantly reduced. New design of the real sector magnet is described in this report. A K2500 superconducting ring cyclotron with 6-sectors is being constructed at RIKEN as an energy booster of the existing K540 ring cyclotron. The bending magnet for beam injection should be superconducting. Required fields are about 4 T and curvature of the coils is about 1.2 m. We developed test coils for the bending magnet. Their results are very promising for the real bending magnet. In the paper the results of the test coils and the design of the real bending magnets are described. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Along with the change of the design of the sector magnets of the RIKEN Superconducting Ring Cyclotron (SRC), the design of the injection and extraction systems for the SRC has also been changed significantly compared to the previous design. The basic layouts and specifications of the injection and extraction elements were determined by numerical analysis of the injection and extraction trajectories. In the analysis, much care was taken in particular to minimize not only the required fields of the elements but also the differences between various beam trajectories in each element.
