Abstract

Palladium/porous silicon nanocomposites are synthesized by the chemical reduction of ions of metal in water–organic solutions in reversed microemulsions. The fundamental characteristics of nanocomposites are investigated by cyclic voltammetry and atomic force microscopy. The physico-chemical characteristics of the nanocomposites formed by radiation–chemical and chemical reduction are compared. The nanocatalysts obtained were very active in the reactions of hydrogen oxidation and reduction of oxygen. The influence of the synthesis conditions on the catalytic activity of the nanocomposites is considered. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
