This paper aims to analyze the cultural dimensions stated by Geert Hofstede in order to identify the particularities of the organizational cultural profile with applicability at the level of the Suceava City Hall institution. The micro-research carried out by means of this survey-based questionnaire demonstrated that at the level of the analyzed institution, the cultural profile is characterized by: distance from power partially small, respectively partially large; swinging opinions between individualism and collectivism; inclination towards the femininity dimension; the strong presence of the uncertainty avoidance dimension; long-term orientation, as well as reporting the existence of both indulgence and coercion in the workplace. The study is aimed at unveiling the discrepancies in educational cultures, more specifically of creating a dichotomy between the teacher-centered cultures, specific for the Eastern European countries and the learner-centered cultures, of Western European countries, in distance learning virtual communities. Starting from a definition of culture, as it was stated by Geert Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions that he developed and applied along the years in the analysis of differing cultures, with a specific application on the most recent sixth dimension and with a view to Edward Hall's perspective on high context vs. low context cultures, I will try to understand the traps in which learners are stuck when involving in online distance learning courses, in ESP. The study is based on a survey, developed as part of a doctoral study, by Rita Zaltsman, from the International Center of Modern Education in Prague, Czech Republic. The results of this study will be used in understanding if the same cultural paradigm is valid for the Romanian students enrolled in ESP distance learning courses, as in the case of their Western colleagues. The findings will help us develop a platform of ESP online courses which will perfectly suit the needs and wants of the target audience. Besides the demographic data, which are extremely important in evaluating a society, the following cultural issued need to be considered: content of material, power of multimedia, formal versus informal style of communication, style of written communication, as well as Web design. Cultural sensitivity can help us develop an integrated course in ESP that will later on be adapted to other categories of audience: Arab or Chinese students, eager to enroll with Romanian universities. The same process can be applied when developing an online platform for Romanian as a Foreign Language, aimed at Erasmus students and international students enrolled in Romanian universities. It is very important to understand the role of e-learning in crossing boundaries, in enabling learners to involve in different forms of communication. This can be done through a better understanding of the classical teaching and learning methods, what needs to be changed and what caters the needs of the modern distance learner, in the special case of foreign language acquisition. [EN] The main objective of this master's degree project is to analyze how multicultural aspects can influence the results of the Project Management. For that , the proposal is a correlation matrix that will connect the project success with the multicultural perspective, this matrix will be pro-ved in 4 cases of study in which the author of the master¿s degree project has directly partici-pated, she has had the opportunity to work on international architectural projects with German, French, Spanish and Chinese actors. The first phase of the work will be the bibliography review of critical success factors to connect them with the stakeholders, which will subsequently be analyzed from a multicultural perspec-tive. Next, the análisis of different interpretation models of multiculturality factors, selecting as the most complete and appropriate the six-dimensional model of G. Hofstede, which also allows a semi-quantitative treatment. After this, will be proposed the construction of a correlation matrix between critical success factors and cultural dimensions, analyzing how each critical success factor is influenced by the six cultural dimensions. It also discusses how the cultural environment of the different groups of stakeholders in a project influences the relevance of the different critical factors, to detect confluence points, possible conflicts, and evaluate the different success perceptions of the project regarding to the different actors. Finally, the matrix and its graphic interpretation, will be applied to 4 international projects of architecture, in which the aspects of difference or intercultural conflict will be analyzed and will be related to the development of each one of them, after that will be elaborated a general con-clusión about the presented model.

Introduction. The aim of the research is to analyse and compare visual identity elements of Croatian academic Websites with ones of European countries using Hofstede's model of cultural dimensions. The purpose of the research is to point to the influence a culture has on the design of Websites. Method. Graphical elements of university home pages from Croatia and a sample of 10 European countries are compared using the visual content analysis method. Element frequency scores were correlated with indexes from Hofstede's Model of National Culture and interpreted on the basis of the existing literature using analysis of variance, independent T-test and chi- squared test. Analysis. Both quantitative (using SPSS) and qualitative analyses (with the custom-created Web application) were carried out on the data (1, 017 Websites). Results. Many graphic elements of visual identity are common among the academic Web pages in Croatia and Europe. In a comparison of Web pages' cultural characteristics and G. Hofstede's model between Croatia and other countries, results show a statistically significant correlation through all the dimensions between the countries, depending on each visual graphic element. Conclusions. Research results contribute to the body of theoretical and practical knowledge of visual communication. They also shed light on the influence of culture on visual communication in general and argue in favour of the fact that a visual communication, in order to be effective and informative, has to take into account underlying cultural and social premises that will influence creation and interpretation of Websites.

The present study focuses on the investigation and amplification of existing information regarding the field of culture and its current theories and research on the elements that make it up and the differences between cultures, focusing on the analysis and comparison between cultures through the use of different theories present in the field of intercultural communication. From the hand of the theorists Geert Hofstede and Gerhard Maletzke and their theories about the dimensions and cultural characteristics, respectively, complementing this with additional information that allows us to understand, relate and observe these theories with clarity, we intend to give the reader a general idea of the composition of cultures and the elements that differentiate them and make them unique, as well as finding those elements that unite them. The theoretical study will be complemented by a comparative analysis of the differences between the Mediterranean and the German cultures, using the theories mentioned above, initially through the data obtained and published by Hofstede and later making use of Maletzke's theory on cultural characteristics to present a broad and deep comparison between both cultures, in the analysis of the film "My great Italian wedding", of original name "Maria, ihm schmeckt's nicht!"., Departamento de Filología Francesa y Alemana, Grado en Lenguas Modernas y sus Literaturas

Nowadays the world is becoming increasingly economically connected, and cultural diversity of employees is gaining importance as a crucial competitive advantage. Cross-cultural communication ability is becoming a key management skill in multinational firms and is equally important for other employees who are exposed to other cultures in the workplace. This work mainly focuses on cultural specifics of management in multinational firms. The goal of this thesis is to discover how different national cultures influence management of people, particularly work relationships, management tools and organization structures. The author discovers this through cultural dimensions that she updates for the Czech Republic and Slovakia for her work using methodology of Fons Trompenaars. The author tests three hypotheses: about the development of preferences of cultural dimensions in time, differences in preferences of cultural dimensions of Czechs and Slovaks and differences in preferences of cultural dimensions based on people's gender, age and the number of years spent abroad. The work also presents mapping of changes of attitudes in specific work and personal situations of Czechs and Slovaks over a period of time. The work additionally analyzes the influence of economic factors on work attitudes and preferences of cultural dimensions and identifies areas of potential conflicts between the cultures of Czechs and Slovaks in the workplace. It also compares results with other researches about cultural dimensions and cultural standards. The work concludes by presenting culturally specific recommendations for management of Czechs and Slovaks.
