One novel Inorganic–Organic Hybrid compound [Pb(mip)(bidc)]n (1) [mip = 2-(3-methoxyphenyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline, bidc = 2,2′bipyridinyl-3,3′-dicarboxylic acid] has been synthesized by hydrothermal reactions and characterized by thermogravimetrianalysis, elemental analysis, infrared spectrum and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction results suggest that compound 1 exhibits 1D chain structure, which is constructed from N–H···O hydrogen bonds. TG analysis results suggest that compound 1 has excellent thermal stability, the reason of that may be the existence of hydrogen bonds reinforces the structural stability. It is noteworthy that the metal ions Pb (II) are located in [:PbN2O4] pentagonal bipyramidal geometry in the title compound. The theoretical calculation analysis of 1 was performed by the PBE0/LANL2DZ method in Gaussian 03 Program to elucidate the essential electronic characters. The luminescent properties for the ligand mip and compound 1 are also discussed in detail.

Four D-A type Zn(ii) coordination complexes, [Zn(C29H29N3O2)·(CH3OH)]·(CH3OH) (1), Zn2(C74H90N6O4)·(CH3OH) (2), [Zn(C30H28N4O2)·(CH3OH)]·(CH3OH) (3) and [Zn(C38H44N4O2)·(C2H5OH)]·(C2H5OH) (4), were designed, synthesized, and studied. Their fluorescence properties in the solid state and in THF solution were comprehensively analysed based on their single-crystal structures. The results showed that the red-shift of fluorescence emission from complexes 1 to 4 was successfully achieved via the strategy of enhancing intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) effects by increasing the number of electron-pulling and pushing groups gradually. Meanwhile, because of the fluorescence recognition abilities of these four complexes towards iodide anions in THF, they could be regarded as potential fluorescent sensors for I- in this organic solution in the future.

We synthesized a new ligand, 2-(3-methoxyphenyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline (mip), by modifying 1,10-phenanthroline. Then, by coordination of mip and rigid terephthalic acid (bdc) as a mixed ligand, we produced the manganese complex [Mn(mip)2(bdc)2]n. The structure of the complex was analyzed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD), and the complex was characterized by elemental analysis, XRD, thermogravimetric analysis, and infrared spectroscopy. The complex had a one-dimensional chain structure, and a two-dimensional layered structure was formed by the action of the hydrogen bond. It had good thermal stability, and its thermal weight loss curve showed weight loss in each temperature interval. Finally, we studied the fluorescence properties of the complex.

Here a lightweight antenna array is designed and fabricated for a Ka‐band phased array antenna. From the perspective of advanced space‐borne engineering practice, a Kagome lattice structure is proposed for the lightweight antenna array applications and the representative configurations of the proposed lattice structure is fabricated via selective laser melting (SLM). Experiment is performed to estimate the electrical performance with the featured structure. Compared with the conventional antenna array, the proposed one has 69% less weight, identical measured radiation patterns, and good electrical performance. The results demonstrate the great potentials for other readily customized lightweight phased array antenna applications.

Three novel Cu(II) complexes [Cu2(L)2(MeOH)2] (1), [Cu2(L)2(H2O)2] (2) and [CuL(H2O)] (3) (L = (E)-2-((2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzylidene)amino)acetic acid) have been obtained in different time scales of reaction processing. Complexes 1 and 2 are kinetically controlled products and 3 is a thermodynamically stable product. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses revealed that 1 and 2 are binuclear complexes except for different coordination solvents. 3 is a mononuclear complex. Complex 1 is mainly obtained in methanol solution, while 2 and 3 are stable in aqueous solvents. Based on the understanding of crystal structures of the three complexes, reversibly transforming crystal 2 to crystal 1 at room temperature has been realised, which has been confirmed by the change of colours and morphology measured by SEM. The research work is very important for controllable synthesis of coordination complexes.

Low-dimensional perovskites have been widely studied as a promising candidate for realizing stable light-emitting diodes (LEDs). However, blue-light-emitting devices generally possess low stability associated with gradually red-shifted emission. To overcome this issue, the effect of zinc bromide (ZnBr2) addition on the regulation of the crystal structures of phenethylammonium and bromine-chlorine mixed inorganic perovskites (PEA-CsPbBrxCl3-x) is investigated. With the ZnBr2 addition, low-dimensional perovskite structures undergo morphological changes, such as thickening of their crystal structures and higher degree of crystal arrangement. Stoichiometric selective characterization reveals that perovskite bonding forces changed from Van der Waals with PEA to ionic with ZnBr2. Meanwhile, ZnBr2 can effectively address the ion defect filling and dimensional structure property switching. Consequently, the optimized ZnBr2-assisted PEA-CsPbBrxCl3-x LED is shown to deliver a high luminance of 1245 cd/m2 along with a high external quantum efficiency of 1.30%. Furthermore, this blue LED exhibits excellent spectral stability, for which only 3-nm red-shift on external excitation (0.1 to 5.0 mA) is observed. Our result clearly shows that ZnBr2 addition effectively improves the stability of blue light-emitting perovskites.

Two novel metal-organic coordination polymers [Cd(ipdt)(m-BDC)·3H2O]n (1) and [Pb(mip)2(NTC) ·2H2O]n (2) [ipdt = 2,6-Dimethoxy-4-(1H-1,3,7,8-tetraaza-cyclopenta[l]phenanthren-2-yl)-phenol, mip = 2-(3-methoxyphenyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline, m-BDC = isophthalic acid, NTC = nicotinic acid] have been synthesized by hydrothermal reactions and characterized by elemental analysis, thermogravimetric (TG) analysis, infrared spectrum (IR) and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction reveals that 1 exhibits two-dimensional (2D) layer architecture, and 2 shows 1D chain architecture. TG analysis shows clear courses of weight loss, which corresponds to the decomposition of different ligands. The luminescent properties for the ligand ipdt, mip and complexes 1–2 are also discussed in detail, which should be acted as potential luminescent material.

Novel binary metal Fe 0.5 Co 0.5 Se 2 spheres supported on carbon fiber cloth (CFC) as efficient electrocatalyst for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) have been successfully synthesized by a facile solvothermal selenization using N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF) as solvent. Firstly, Fe 0.5 Co 0.5 nanosheets have been electrodeposited on the surface of CFC. Then, Fe 0.5 Co 0.5 /CFC as precursor has been converted to uniform Fe 0.5 Co 0.5 Se 2 spheres on CFC (Fe 0.5 Co 0.5 Se 2 /CFC) by DMF selenization process. XRD and EDX confirm the typical crystalline structure and homogeneous elemental distribution of Fe 0.5 Co 0.5 Se 2 on the surface of CFC. XPS shows the existence and valence of Fe, Co and Se. The uniform size and good dispersion of Fe 0.5 Co 0.5 Se 2 spheres with the diameter of about 100 nm have been revealed by SEM and elemental mapping, which may provide more active sites for OER. The electrochemical results demonstrate that the obtained Fe 0.5 Co 0.5 Se 2 /CFC possesses the better OER activity with smaller overpotential, lower Tafel slope and charge transfer resistance than other samples, which may be ascribed to the uniform spherical morphology and the better intrinsic activity from binary metal Fe 0.5 Co 0.5 Se 2 . Moreover, the faster electron transfer rate derived from CFC support and the synergistic effect between Fe 0.5 Co 0.5 Se 2 and CFC may be responsible for the enhancements of OER performances.

One complex [Mn(dnpt)(aic)]n [dnpt = 2-(4-nitrophenyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline, aic = 5-Amino-isophthalic acid] was obtained from hydrothermal reaction and was characterized by elemental analysis, IR, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure shows that the manganese ion is coordinated with two nitrogen atoms of one dnpt molecule and four oxygen atoms from three aic molecules, forming a distorted octahedral coordination geometry. Each Mn(II) atom is linked by aic ligands with neighbor Mn(II) atoms, forming an infinite one-dimensional (1D) double-chain structure. The luminescent properties for the ligand and complex 1 are also discussed in detail (CCDC 1030059).

In this work, a series of dinuclear Ln(III)-based compounds with the molecular form [Ln2(L)2(dbm)2(H2O)2]·nCH3OH (Ln(III) = Eu (1), Gd (2), Tb (3), Dy (4) and Ho (5), Hdbm = 1,3-diphenyl-1,3-propanedione and H2L = 2-[(1E)-{[(pyridin-2-yl)formamido]imino}methyl]benzoic acid) have been successfully synthesized using a polydentate Schiff base ligand (H2L) and reacting it with the β-diketone salts Ln(dbm)3·2H2O. The crystal structures and magnetic properties of the five Ln2 compounds have been completely studied. The crystal structure studies reveal that compounds 1–5 are isostructural and show a dinuclear structure with a parallelogram Ln2O2 core. The magnetic research suggests that the Gd2 compound shows a cryogenic magnetic refrigeration property with magnetic entropy (−ΔSm) = 23.2 J K−1 kg−1 (T = 2.0 K and ΔH = 7.0 T), while the Dy2 compound exhibits slow magnetic relaxation behavior.

As a prototype of organic–inorganic hybrid perovskites, CH3NH3PbI3 is attracting extensive attention because of its applications in high-power-conversion-efficiency solar cells. However, the mixed-halide perovskite CH3NH3PbI3–xClx exhibited superior carrier diffusion properties in recent experiments. Using first-principles calculations and the Berry phase method, we calculated the crystal structures and ferroelectric properties of pure and Cl-doped CH3NH3PbI3. The off-center displacement of Pb within the PbI6 octahedron was found to introduce major intrinsic polarization, rather than the off-center displacement of CH3NH3+ within the inorganic lattice or charge polarization within the organic cation, as expected. With chlorine substitution for iodine, the larger electronegativity difference between the halogen and Pb increases the lattice distortion and, hence, the electric polarization increases by as much as ∼50%, which provides a possible mechanism to further assist carrier separation and diffusion in s...

Single-crystal X-ray diffraction reveals that 1 exhibits two-dimensional (2D) layer architecture, and the H-bond intersections link the 2D layer architecture to 3D structure. TG analysis shows clear courses of weight loss, which corresponds to the decomposition of different ligands. We also study the luminescent properties for the ligand and compound 1, and the results suggest that title compound is very thermal stable and worthy of further study as candidate of potential photoluminescence material.

Take advantage of the readily accessible layered Zn-1,2,4-triazolate motif and two isometric dicarboxylate ligands with different functional groups (trans,trans-1,3-butadiene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid, TTBDC and 2,5-dihydroxyterephthalic acid, DOBDC), we report herein two porous Zn-triazolate-dicarboxylate pillar-layered MOFs. Flexible TTBDC led to the formation of MOF 1 crystallizing in Pna21 space group, but rigid DOBDC produced MOF 2 in P4/ncc space group. Both pillar-layered MOFs show not only remarkable H2 and CO2 uptake capacity, but also high CO2 over CH4 selectivity.

One novel compound constructed from aromatic acid and N-heterocyclic ligands has been synthesized by hydrothermal reaction: [Mn(ipm)(1,8-NDC)(H2O)]2 (1) [ipm = 5-(1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthrolin-2-yl)-2-methoxyphenol, 1,8-NDC = naphthalene-1,8-dicarboxylic acid]. The title compound was obtained by controlling the ratio of the starting materials and a reaction temperature at 170°C and was characterized by elemental analysis, IR, single-crystal X-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Single-crystal X-ray investigation reveals that compound 1 is zero dimensional (0D) structure, and the existence of hydrogen bonds and π-π interactions lead the 0D to 1D chain framework. Hydrogen bonds interactions are powerful noncovalent intermolecular interactions for directing supramolecular architectures. 1-(4-((Benzo)dioxol-5-ylmethyleneamino)phenyl)ethanone oxime was synthesized using piperonal and characterized by 1H and 13C NMR spectrum, elemental analysis and UV–Vis spectroscopy, as well as by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. In the crystal structure, with the help of hydrogen bonds, C–H···π and π···π stacking interactions, a self-assembling two-dimensional (2-D) and three-dimensional (3-D) supramolecular frameworks were formed. The geometry of the compound had been optimized by the DFT method and the results were compared with the X-ray diffraction data. The calculated HOMO and LUMO energies showed the character of the title compound. The electronic transitions and spectral features were performed by TD-DFT calculations. The Electrostatic Potentials (ESP) analysis was utilized to visualize the charge distribution on the molecule, and the mapping demonstrated the reactive sites, which confirmed the observation of the optimized structure formed in the crystals by hydrogen bonds. In addition, the noncovalent supramolecular interactions among the compound were quantified by feat of Hirshfeld surface analysis.

A homochiral Zn-UDP coordination polymer with an alternating parallel ABAB sequence was constructed and studied by X-ray single crystal diffraction analysis. Its crystal structure shows that there are potentially open sites in the 2D layers. The activation of the sites makes the coordination polymer a fluorescent sensor for novel heterogeneous detection of amino acids.
