The title compound 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)benzo[d]oxazole-6-carbaldehyde (1a) was synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound1apossesses intramolecular C–H···O and O–H···N hydrogen bonds, which generate S(5) and S(6) rings, respectively. Intermolecular π–π stacking is observed in the crystal structure, which links a pair of molecules into a cyclic centrosymmetric dimer. The crystal structure is further stabilized by three different intermolecular C–H···O hydrogen bonds, which link the molecules into a continuous three-dimensional framework. An asymmetric dialkylamino-substituted perylene bisimide (1), N,N′-bis(cyclohexyl)-1-(N,N-dihexylamino)perylene-3,4:9,10-bis(dicarboximide), was synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal belongs to triclinic, space group P–1, with a = 9.8924(6), b = 14.6338(10), c = 15.6221(10) Å, α= 105.098(3)°, β = 103.386(2)°, γ = 107.772(3)°, and Z = 2. The central perylene core of1is twisted with dihedral angles of 14.9(3)° and 11.6(3)°; this twist configuration induces the axial chirality in this family of perylene bisimide dyes. In the crystal structure, the intermolecular C–H···O interaction links a pair of molecules into a cyclic centrosymmetric dimer that is connected to one another via the intermolecular π–π stacking, so linking the molecules into a continuous one-dimensional framework along the [100] direction. The title compound, (Z)-4-(2-methoxybenzylidene)-1-methyl-2-phenyl-1H-imidazol-5(4H)-one (1), was synthesized and characterized. 7,9-Diiodobenzo[h]quinolin-10-ol (1), a benzo[h]quinolin-10-ol derivative, was synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal belongs to monoclinic, space groupP21/c, witha= 7.3765(16),b= 12.616(2),c= 12.881(2) Å, α = 90°,β= 93.420(16)°, and γ = 90°. Compound1possesses an intramolecular six-membered-ring hydrogen bond, from which excited-state intramolecular proton transfer takes place, resulting in a proton-transfer tautomer emission of 628 nm in cyclohexane. 9,10-Dihydroxybenzo[ h]quinoline ( 1), a 10-hydroxybenzo[ h]quinoline ( 2) derivative, was synthesized and characterized by H NMR, C NMR, UV-vis and fluorescence spectra, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 possesses an intramolecular six-membered-ring hydrogen bond, from which excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) takes place from the phenolic proton to the pyridinic nitrogen, resulting in a proton-transfer tautomer emission of 650 nm in dichloromethane. Its molecular geometry in the ground state has also been calculated using density functional theory (DFT) at the B3LYP/6-31G** level and compared with its crystal structure. Results show that the optimized geometry can well reproduce the crystal structure. Furthermore, both absorption and emission spectra of 1 and 2 were calculated using time-dependent DFT (TD-DFT) calculations, and were in good agreement with the experimental results. The title compound, rac-6,13-dihydro-6,13-methanopentacene ( 1), has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H NMR, UV-Vis, HRMS spectra, cyclic voltammetry and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal belongs to orthorhombic, space group P212121, with Z = 4 and cell dimensions a = 6.0185(4), b = 8.1914(6), c = 31.4080(19) Å. In the crystal structure, two types of intermolecular C-H···π hydrogen bonds are observed, and further stabilize the crystal structure.
