A case of pityriasis rubra pilaris (PRP) is presented, of the erythrodermic type, with typical keratotic follicular papules and late onset. Muscle and joint symptoms and laboratory findings suggestive of a connective tissue disorder were also present. The patient’s skin manifestations cleared with vitamin A and prednisone therapy. The concept is advanced that PRP is not only a cutaneous disease but possibly a more generalized one, at times presenting with involvement of other systems.
