Objective: In this study, we aim to provide a comprehensive analysis of the effectiveness of the risk prevention and control mechanism within the grid management model for community risk prevention. We emphasize the importance of thoroughly examining the risk prevention and control mechanism to enhance risk management efforts in urban communities, particularly in response to unforeseen outbreaks such as COVID-19., Methods: Case studies are widely acknowledged as one of the most effective approaches to examine governance in China. In this study, the "Yuelu Model" serves as an illustrative example to demonstrate the application and effectiveness of grid management in community risk governance. To ensure the validity of the case study, it is imperative to adhere to the principle of representativeness. The collection of case data involves a combination of primary and secondary sources, and supplementary information is obtained through follow-up investigations conducted via WeChat, telephone, and other means, thereby enhancing the comprehensiveness and accuracy of the data., Results: Our analysis reveals significant findings regarding the impact of the grid management model, fulfilling a triple role as a "Social Safety Valve" in the management process: (1) Community stress reduction function, (2) Community alarm function, and (3) Community integration function. Furthermore, we explore the adaptability of the grid management mechanism in addressing community risks, highlighting its effectiveness and potential for broader application., Discussion: The findings of this study suggest that: Firstly, it is crucial to establish a shared information repository among different departments on a big data platform. Secondly, a dynamic government public information internal network should be established through collaborative efforts among multiple departments. Thirdly, implementing a regular (or periodic) early warning mechanism is essential. Lastly, the establishment of a high-quality talent team for power grid management is highly recommended. Background: The first local outbreak of Delta Variant B.1.617.2 COVID-19 of China occurred in Guangzhou city, south China, in May 2021. This study analyzed the transmission chains and local cluster characteristics of this outbreak, intended to provide information support for the development and adjustment of local prevention and control strategies., Methods: The transmission chains and local cluster characteristics of 161 local cases in the outbreak were described and analyzed. Incubation period, serial interval and generation time were calculated using the exact time of exposure and symptom onset date of the cases. The daily number of reported cases and the estimated generation time were used to estimate the effective reproduction number (Rt)., Results: We identified 7 superspreading events who had more than 5 next generation cases and their infected cases infected 70.81%(114/161) of all the cases transmission. Dining and family exposure were the main transmission routes in the outbreak, with 29.19% exposed through dining and 32.30% exposed through family places. Through further analysis of the outbreak, the estimated mean incubation period was 4.22 (95%CI: 3.66-4.94) days, the estimated mean generation time was 2.60 (95%CI: 1.96-3.11) days, and the estimated Rt was 3.29 (95%CI: 2.25-5.07)., Conclusions: Classification and dynamically adjusted prevention and control measures had been carried out according to analysis of transmission chains and epidemical risk levels, including promoting nucleic acid screening at different regions and different risk levels, dividing closed-off area, controlled area according to the risk of infection, raising the requirements of leaving Guangzhou. Background The COVID-19 pandemic forced Veterans Health Administration facilities to rapidly adopt and deploy telehealth alternatives to provide continuity of care to veterans while minimizing physical contact. The impact of moving to virtual visits on patients with congestive heart failure (HF) is unknown. The goal of this study was to understand how patients with HF and their providers experienced the shift to telehealth for managing a chronic condition, and to inform best practices for continued telehealth use. Methods and Results We identified Veterans Health Administration Medical Centers with high telehealth use before COVID-19 and sites that were forced to adopt telehealth in response to COVID-19, and interviewed cardiology providers and veterans with HF about their experiences using telehealth. Interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using team-based rapid content analysis. We identified 3 trajectory patterns for cardiology telehealth use before and during COVID-19. They were the low-use class (low to low), high-use class (relatively high to higher), and increased-use class (low to high). The high-use and increased-use classes fit the criteria for sites that had high telehealth use before COVID-19 and sites that rapidly adopted telehealth in response to COVID-19. There were 12 sites in the high-use class and 4 sites in the increased-use class. To match with the number of sites in the increased-use class, we selected the top 4 sites by looking at the months before COVID-19. We identified 3 themes related to telehealth use among patients with HF and cardiology providers: (1) technology was the primary barrier for both patients and providers; (2) infrastructural support was the primary facilitator for providers; and (3) both patients and providers had largely neutral opinions on how telehealth compares to in-person care but described situations in which telehealth is not appropriate. Conclusions Only 12 sites fit the criteria of high telehealth use in cardiology before COVID-19, and 4 fit the criteria of low use that increased in response to COVID-19. Patients and providers at both site types were largely satisfied using telehealth to manage HF. Understanding best practices for managing ambulatory care-sensitive conditions through virtual visits can help the Veterans Health Administration prepare for long-term impacts of COVID-19 on in-person visits, as well as improve access to care for veterans who live remotely or who have difficulty traveling to in-person appointments.

Rare cases of viral keratitis after coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination have been reported. Furthermore, to our knowledge, cases of viral keratitis after two rounds of COVID-19 vaccination have not yet been reported. We report the case of a 19-year-old man without a history of keratitis, who developed viral keratitis soon after receiving the second and third doses of inactivated COVID-19 vaccines. Each time after the patient received treatment with topical and systemic drugs, his ocular symptoms were gradually relieved, and corrected visual acuity in both eyes returned to normal. COVID-19 vaccination may be associated with rare cases of the development of keratitis in individuals without a medical history of keratitis. Physicians should be aware of the possible relationship between ocular symptoms and adverse reactions to the COVID-19 vaccination. Despite the potential risks of COVID-19 vaccination, the benefits of immunization against the virus far outweigh these risks.

Background: Local governments in China took restrictive measures after the outbreak of COVID-19 to control its spread, which unintentionally resulted in reduced anthropogenic emission sources of air pollutants. In this study, we intended to examine the effects of the COVID-19 lockdown policy on the concentration levels of particulate matter with aerodynamic diameters of ≤1 μm (PM 1 ), ≤2.5 μm (PM 2.5 ), and ≤10 μm (PM 10 ), nitrogen dioxide (NO 2 ), sulfur dioxide (SO 2 ), ozone (O 3 ), and carbon monoxide (CO) and the potential subsequent reductions in the incidence of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke in Shandong Province, China., Methods: A difference-in-difference model combining the daily incidence data for ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke and air pollutant data in 126 counties was used to estimate the effect of the COVID-19 lockdown on the air pollutant levels and ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke incident counts. The avoided ischemic stroke cases related to the changes in air pollutant exposure levels were further estimated using concentration-response functions from previous studies., Results: The PM 1 , PM 2.5 , PM 10 , NO 2 , and CO levels significantly decreased by -30.2, -20.9, -13.5, -46.3, and -13.1%, respectively. The O 3 level increased by 11.5% during the lockdown compared with that in the counterfactual lockdown phase of the past 2 years. There was a significant reduction in population-weighted ischemic stroke cases (-15,315, 95% confidence interval [ CI ]: -27,689, -2,942), representing a reduction of 27.6% (95% CI : -49.9%, -5.3%). The change in the number of hemorrhagic stroke cases was not statistically significant. The total avoided PM 1 -, PM 2.5 -, PM 10 -, NO 2 -, and CO-related ischemic stroke cases were 739 (95% CI : 641, 833), 509 (95% CI : 440, 575), 355 (95% CI : 304, 405), 1,132 (95% CI : 1,024, 1,240), and 289 (95% CI : 236, 340), respectively., Conclusion: The COVID-19 lockdown indirectly reduced the concentration levels of PM 1 , PM 2.5 , PM 10 , NO 2 , and CO and subsequently reduced the associated ischemic stroke incidence. Objective: Children of parents with mental illness (COPMI) are vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study aimed to assess the psychosocial impacts of the pandemic and identify potential factors influencing their mental health., Method: 665 COPMI from six sites including Wuhan in China were enrolled. COPMI's mental health and the impacts of COVID-19 were assessed by an online survey. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to examine the association between impact factors and participants' mental health., Results: 16.1 % of participants were in abnormal range of mental health, with interpersonal relationship being the most common problem. 48.6 % of participants reported quite worried about the epidemic. All aspects of adverse effects of COVID-19 were more prevalent among COPMI in Wuhan than in other sites. Concerns about COVID-19 (OR = 1.7, p = 0.02), decreased family income (OR = 2.0, p = 0.02), being physically abused (OR = 2.1, p = 0.04), witnessing family members being physically abused (OR = 2.0, p = 0.03), and needs for promoting family members' mental health (OR = 2.2, p < 0.01) were independent risk factors for participants' mental health., Conclusion: The findings raise our awareness of the impacts of COVID-19 pandemic on the wellbeing of COPMI. The dengue fever epidemic in Guangzhou may have been affected by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Background: The unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic has brought drastic changes to the field of plastic surgery. It is critical for stakeholders in this field to identify the changes in public interest in plastic procedures to be adequately prepared to meet the challenges of the pandemic., Objective: The aim of this study is to examine tweets related to the public interest in plastic procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic and to help stakeholders in the field of plastic surgery adjust their practices and sustain their operations during the current difficult situation of the pandemic., Methods: Using a web crawler, 73,963 publicly accessible tweets about the most common cosmetic surgical and minimally invasive plastic procedures were collected. The tweets were grouped into three phases, and the tweeting frequencies and Google Trends indices were examined. Tweeting frequency, sentiment, and word frequency analyses were performed with Python modules., Results: Tweeting frequency increased by 24.0% in phase 2 and decreased by 9.1% in phase 3. Tweets about breast augmentation, liposuction, and abdominoplasty ("tummy tuck") procedures consecutively increased over the three phases of the pandemic. Interest in Botox and chemical peel procedures revived first when the lockdown was lifted. The COVID-19 pandemic was associated with a negative impact on public sentiment about plastic procedures. The word frequency pattern significantly changed after phase 1 and then remained relatively stable., Conclusions: According to Twitter data, the public maintained their interest in plastic procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic. Stakeholders should consider refocusing on breast augmentation, liposuction, and abdominoplasty procedures during the current phase of the pandemic. With a long epidemic history and a large number of dengue cases, Guangzhou is a key city for controlling dengue in China. The demographic information regarding dengue cases, and the genomic characteristics of the envelope gene of dengue viruses, as well as the associations between these factors were investigated from 2010 to 2019, to improve the understanding of the epidemiology of dengue in Guangzhou. Demographic data on 44,385 dengue cases reported to the Notifiable Infectious Disease Report System were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics v. 20. Dengue virus isolates from patient sera were sequenced, and phylogenetic trees were constructed using PhyML 3.1. There was no statistical difference in the risk of dengue infection between males and females. Unlike other areas in which dengue is endemic, the infection risk in Guangzhou increased with age. Surveillance identified four serotypes responsible for dengue infections in Guangzhou. Serotype 1 remained prevalent for most of the study period, whereas serotypes 3 and 4 were prevalent in 2012 and 2010, respectively. Different serotypes underwent genotype and sublineage shifts. The epidemiological characteristics and phylogeny of dengue in Guangzhou suggested that although it has circulated in Guangzhou for decades, it has not been endemic in Guangzhou. Background: With the pandemic dissemination of COVID‐19, attitude and sentiment surrounding facial rejuvenation have evolved rapidly. Aims: The purpose of this study was to understanding the impact of pandemic on the attitude of people toward facial skin rejuvenation. Methods: Twitter data related to facial rejuvenation were collected from January 1, 2020, to April 30, 2020. Sentiment analysis, frequency analysis, and word cloud were performed to analyze the data. Statistical analysis included two‐tailed t tests and chi‐square tests. Results: In the post‐declaration, the number of tweets about facial rejuvenation increased significantly, and the search volume in Google Trends decreased. Negative public emotions increased, but positive emotions still dominate. The words frequency of "discounts" and "purchase" decreased. The dominant words in word cloud were "Botox," "facelift," "hyaluronic," and "skin." Conclusion: The public has a positive attitude toward facial rejuvenation during the pandemic. In particular, minimally invasive procedures dominate the mainstream, such as "Botox," "Hyaluronic acid," and "PRP." Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a global pandemic, but treatment options remain limited. Up to now, vaccination has been the main strategy to prevent transmission and reduce disease severity. However, with follow-up observations after massive vaccination, immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) induced by COVID-19 vaccines has attracted the attention of investigators. The present study reported the case of a 78-year-old elderly female who presented with 'oral bleeding for 2 days and scattered bleeding spots on the extremities for 1 day' after vaccination with the COVID-19 vaccine (Vero Cells), and blood routine analysis indicated a white blood cell count of 6.27x109/l, hemoglobin levels of 144 g/l and a low platelet (PLT) count of 1x109/l. Bone marrow cytomorphology showed thrombocytopenia, while no platelet-producing megakaryocytes were observed. The patient was diagnosed with ITP and given symptomatic and supportive treatment, such as prednisone acetate 1 mg/kg, recombinant human thrombopoietin, intravenous injection of human immunoglobulin 0.4 g/kg and prevention of bleeding. At 1 week after the treatment started, the patient's PLT count began to increase, and 9 days later, it returned to normal levels. The aim of the present study was to raise the awareness of medical staff regarding this disease and to increase the vigilance of the general public.
