The purpose of this study was to predict occupational burnout for coping strategies and personality traits in the principals and vice presidents of district 5 of Tehran. The statistical population of this study consisted of all principals and directors of district 5 OfTehrancity in 1996. Inthisresearch, 100 people were Selectedbymultistage cluster sampling according to the framework of statistical society. A questionnaire was used to collect data. The questionnaire consisted of 5 person factors, a burnout questionnaire, and coping strategies questionnaire. Validity of the questionnaires was verified using content validity and reliability through Cronbach1S alpha. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation and multivariate regression were used to analyze the data. The results showed that, one of the components of coping strategies, the component of acceptance of responsibility, can be positive and exhaust-avoidance component of burnout can predietjob burnout negatively. Meanwhile, acceptance Ofliability has been more powerful. 2- From the components of personality traits, extroversion and conscientiousness can predietjob burnout negatively; conscientiousness has been a stronger predictor. The present study aimed at prediction of the psychological welfare according to defensive mechanisms and coping strategies in people with positive HIV. The study was correlational. The population of the study included all people with diagnosis of positive HIV repering in Psychological Counseling Center in Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in 1393, that 100 people were selected for available sampling. Tools used in this research were defense style questionnaire (Andrews, Singh, & Bond, 1993). Reifs Psychological welfare questionnaire, and Parker and Andlers1 coping strategies questionnaire (1990). The obtained results from these questionnaires were analyzed by Pearson correlation and regression. The results indicated that psychological welfare had a positive and significant relation with problem-focused strategies and developed defense style. It had a negative and significant relation with avoidant coping strategies, undeveloped defense style, and neurotic defense style. However, it had no significant relation with emotion-focused coping strategies. In addition, only neurotic defense style had the predictive power of psychological welfare. Furthermore, problem-focused and avoidant coping strategies have the predictive power of psychological welfare in these patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
