This article aims to address the territorial impact of the renovation project of the Catacombs in the Rione della Sanità neighborhood of Naples, carried out through cooperative management, with serious social problems. The project is analyzed as a model of tourism-based local development on the grounds of different existing theoretical conceptions, positing a taxonomy that is then applied to describe the birth and evolution of the project. By means of this characterization, economic changes and local participation are addressed. To approach the case, official documentation, calls for tender, and project bids were used. Additionally, media publications from 2018 and 2019 extracted from 32 pages of the Google search engine with keywords were surveyed. In 2019 and February 2022, 15 key informant interviews were conducted. The conclusions show that the model is inspired by a tradition of non-governmental organizations that operates with public and private financing but developed by these actors, thus achieving significant impact in economic terms and in the revitalization of the neighborhood, but with even greater presence of external actors and limited participation. Genre and Rights perspectives in Public Policies moved from the field of statements to be slowly, tailored and gradually implied in actions. These perspectives find an interstice both among geographies and territories, even though there may still be some inclusions left. In this sense, the aim of this work is to shed some light on the strategies applied by nomadic shepherds in Western La Pampa in relation to active participation experiences and on the scope of the public policies in relation to their everyday lives. Understanding Public Policies as dynamic processes where social and state relationship interact with each other lead to see territories as nourished by them, where problems are particular of different contexts and become determinant to react against and/or reproduce changes and inequalities as well. This article resorts to two National State policies developed from 2006 up to present days. The first of those actions, considered a direct one, was the associative and participative experience of women in the context of the Programa Social Agropecuario (PSA) while the other is and indirect action linked to an organization of producers who were coordinated by the cooperative La Comunitaria (MTE). In this research, based on the notions of co-construction, co-production and arenas in dispute, we are interested in analyzing the interfaces that occur between the organizations of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE), -particularity those related to the worker cooperatives-, the leaders of the sector and those in charge of state policies oriented to the sector in Argentina, during the first months of the national government assumed in 2019 and in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The approach adopted is that of methodological triangulation, focused on primary information sources (self-administered questionnaires with closed questions) and secondary (bibliography and official reports). We consider the state as an arena in which part of the contradictions are deployed, reproduced and condensed through disputes that social groups engage in over specific resources. From this perspective, we identify three arenas in which the goverment agenda is disputed and determine the coconstruction and mono-construction of productive policies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The cooperative enterprise is being strengthened in Cuba as part of the political effort to update the Cuban model of economic and social development. That update is happening in an environment of a very aged society, and this factor has to be observed in its broadest dimension. For this reason, the following study has as objective, to value, from a psycho-sociallegal perspective, the distinctive elements of the cooperative that make of this a viable space for the realization of the right of participation of the older adults. In order to comply with the proposed objective, methods specific to Legal Sciences were used, such as: legal history, legal doctrine and technical-legal analysis itself, which made possible to deal with some doctrinal and historical considerations on ageing and participation in the legal environment of the elderly, as well as the assessment of the potential of the cooperative for the socio-economic insertion of the elderly, based on the principles of vital continuity and participation that are enshrined in studies on old age. - Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the history of Costa Rican self-managed agrarian cooperativism, from 1970 to 1980. The concept of self-management, mainly referring to community-owned peasant relations, became important in the political debate for rural development as a tool for agricultural modernization and access to resources by landless peasants. The impulse, conformation and control of community enterprises, without being an exclusive task of the Costa Rican State, is presented as a space of confluence of multiple actors, of negotiations and conflicts, in which the peasants played a leading role. This is analyzed through the literature review, the search of internal documentation of the cooperatives and the dialogue between the peasant leader Ernesto Pérez and the researcher Oscar Leiva. The Baja California Peninsula is an isolated territory distinguished by the presence of export-oriented fisheries and the social organization of fishermen. The environmental histories of two fishing management schemes on the Pacific coast (abalone/lobster and sea urchin) are described. The origins of these two systems are similar in terms of (1) intensive fishing management schemes for catches that enjoy high commercial value in Asia; and (2) a change in occupations as land-based ranchers and farmers were converted into fishermen. In a second stage, fishermen organized in cooperatives, which led to the introduction of a co-management scheme to exploit abalone and lobster in the southern area and red sea urchins in the north. Responding to changes in the natural environment, social organization, institutions, commercial trends and, more recently, the climate, these fishers developed an adaptive co-management scheme that provides cases of successful experiences in the country that could stimulate the implementation of sustainable management schemes in other fisheries. Resumen El mundo actual se encuentra en un proceso de digitalización. Dentro de este paradigma, las redes sociales se están convirtiendo en una herramienta sofisticada y necesaria en las relaciones entre personas. Este tipo de medios proporciona, a las personas usuarias, un amplio abanico de funcionalidades basadas en la interacción y comunicación con otros individuos de la sociedad. Aplicadas en el entorno educativo, las redes sociales fomentan nuevas formas de aprendizaje con un alto componente motivador por parte del estudiantado. La investigación se lleva a cabo en una cooperativa de enseñanza de la Ciudad Autónoma de Ceuta, España. Este tipo de centro educativo persigue la calidad e innovación en los servicios ofertados. Con este estudio se pretende conocer la utilización de redes sociales con una finalidad educativa, en un centro educativo de naturaleza cooperativa. Para ello se ha tomado una muestra de 40 docentes y otra de 80 discentes, que utilizan un método mixto, desde un enfoque cuantitativo, por medio de cuestionarios y otro cualitativo, mediante entrevistas personales semidirigidas. Los resultados más significativos revelan que el 85 % de docentes presenta opiniones desfavorables sobre el uso de redes sociales en el entorno escolar y, en cambio, los discentes con un 96 % se pronuncian a favor de la inclusión de estos nuevos entornos en el proceso de aprendizaje. Se concluye que, a pesar de que la cooperativa de enseñanza busca la innovación entre sus principios, los grupos docentes no están en la disposición de incluir estas metodologías en su repertorio didáctico. Abstract The current world is going through a digitalization process. Considering this paradigm allows saying that social networks are becoming a sophisticated and necessary tool in relations among people. This type of means provides the user with a wide range of functionalities based on interaction and communication with other individuals in society. If it is applied in the educational environment, social networks encourage new forms of learning with a high motivating component on the part of the students. The research is carried out in a teaching cooperative of the Autonomous City of Ceuta, Spain. This kind of education center pursues the quality and innovation in the services they offer. This study seeks to understand the use of social networks for educational purposes in a cooperative educational center. In order to carry out this process, a sample of 40 teachers and 80 students was taken, using a mixed method from a quantitative approach, through questionnaires and a qualitative one, through semi-guided personal interviews. The most significant results reveal that 85% of teachers present unfavorable opinions about the use of social networks in the school environment, and, on the other hand, 96% of students are in favor of including these new tools in the learning process. It is concluded that, although the teaching cooperative seeks innovation among its principles, the teaching groups are not willing to include these methodologies in their didactic repertoire. Resumo O mundo atual se encontra num processo de digitalização. Dentro desse paradigma, as redes sociais se convertem em uma ferramenta sofisticada e necessária nas relações entre as pessoas. Este meio fornece as pessoas usuárias um amplo leque de recursos funcionais interativos e de comunicação com outros indivíduos da sociedade. Aplicadas ao entorno educacional, as redes sociais fomentam novas formas de aprendizado com um alto componente motivador por parte de quem estuda. A pesquisa se realiza em uma cooperativa de ensino da Cidade Autônoma de Ceuta, Espanha. Este tipo de centro educacional busca a qualidade e a inovação nos serviços prestados. Com esta pesquisa, pretende-se conhecer a utilização de redes sociais com uma finalidade educacional em um centro educacional cooperativo. Para isso, foi feito uma amostra com 40 docentes e 80 estudantes, utilizando um método misto, desde um enfoque quantitativo, através de questionários e outro qualitativo, através de entrevistas pessoais semi estruturada. Os resultados mais importantes mostram que 85% dos docentes apresentam opiniões desfavoráveis sobre o uso de redes sociais no centro educativo e, por outro lado, 96% dos estudantes consideram importante a inclusão de esse meio no processo de aprendizagem. Em conclusão, ainda que a cooperativa de educação em questão procura a inovação entre seus princípios, os docentes não estão na disposição de incluir estas metodologias no repertório didático.

14. A tourist project in a vulnerable neighborhood of Naples. Scope, limits and possibilities for the territory

El trabajo tiene por objetivo abordar el impacto territorial del proyecto de renovación a través de la gestión cooperativa, de las Catacumbas en el Rione della Sanità (Barrio de la Sanidad) de Nápoles, con graves problemas sociales. Se analiza el proyecto como un modelo de desarrollo local basado en el turismo a partir de las distintas concepciones teóricas existentes al respecto, planteándose una taxonomía que luego es aplicada para describir el nacimiento y evolución del proyecto. Con esa caracterización se abordan los cambios económicos y la participación local. Para el abordaje del caso se utilizó documentación oficial, anuncios de concursos, licitaciones de proyectos. Por otro lado, se relevaron publicaciones en medios en 2018 y 2019, a lo largo de 32 páginas del buscador de Google con palabras claves. En 2019 y febrero de 2022 se realizaron 15 entrevistas a informantes claves. En las conclusiones se muestra que se trata de un modelo inspirado en la tradición de las organizaciones no gubernamentales que opera con financiamiento público y privado pero que es desarrollado por este tipo de actores, logrando un impacto importante en términos económicos y de revitalización del barrio, pero aun con mayor presencia de actores externos y una participación acotada., This article aims to address the territorial impact of the renovation project of the Catacombs in the Rione della Sanità neighborhood of Naples, carried out through cooperative management, with serious social problems. 15. Sociedades cooperativas de trabajo asociado versus sociedades de capital. Análisis comparado de fortaleza financiera y rentabilidad en el País Vasco.

Objective: Traditionally, agents of social economy and, particularly cooperatives, have been more resilient in crisis environments, thus generating better results in terms of job retention. However, the bankruptcy of Fagor Electrodomésticos, a very large cooperative in the Basque Country (Spain), has given rise to review some of the elements of the cooperative model. The aim of this paper is to make an assessment of the current financial position of cooperative enterprises in the Basque Country, by proposing a comparative analysis of the financing structure, solvency and profitability of cooperatives with regards to investor owned firms. This objective is completed through the following steps: ? By identifying what the current financial structure, solvency and profitability of the Basque cooperatives is, through a thorough analysis of their annual accounts. ? By conducting an exploratory comparative assessment of the financial structure, solvency and profitability of cooperative entities regarding investor owned firms. ? By checking whether there are significant differences between the cooperative and capitalist models in their financial structures in terms of rates of return and wealth generation. In fact, the interest in comparing the two business models lies in the specific principles and values the cooperative model assumes, which comprises a more democratic and participatory system of government. Besides, it is important to notice that in our study we deal with worker cooperatives, which involves unifying the position of equity contributors and workers. There are other peculiarities in self-financing policies and surplus distribution. The different regulatory framework forces cooperatives to allocate larger percentages to legal reserves. On the other hand, it is common that assemblies of members choose to capitalize returns rather than pay out them. Consequently, the recovery of the returns generated is delayed until partners' departure or its retirement time. These policies are aimed at strengthening their own resources as well as improving the solvency ratio of cooperatives. Another specific important policy is related to the member's capital contribution. In essence, the data obtained will allow us to conclude whether the singularities of the cooperative model generate significant differences on their financial structures compared to investor owned firms. In addition, we will research if there are significant differences in their profitability indicators and ability to generate wealth. Methodology: We are presenting an exploratory work of the economic and financial position of cooperatives concerning capital companies. The study has been conducted by analysing data presented in the annual financial statements of industrial cooperatives with more than 50 employees located in the Basque Country, during the period of 2010-2011. We have therefore evaluated, the financial statements of 50 of the 65 cooperatives that met these conditions, in total representing 77% of the study population. In order to select0the corporate enterprises, we have identified companies with more than 50 workers located in the Basque Country operating in any of the industries in which sample cooperatives work. Additionally, 27 economic-financial indicators have been considered to perform a comparative analysis for each year (2010 and 2011) therefore representing a total of 54 variables, for each type of entity. We have identified nine indicators to assess the solvency and financial structure on three aspects: liquidity, global solvency and financial ability to repay debts. We have identified 18 indicators on three aspects to analyze the profitability and wealth generation capability: profitability returns, value added and productivity. The singularities of the worker cooperative model, where labor and capital have concurring interests, require alternative instruments to the classic profitability ratios, so as to properly compare the wealth generating capability of both models. Results: The results show that the studied worker cooperatives offer similar or superior indicators to investor owned firms. Cooperatives have a lower level of debt and thus a higher level of solvency, in line with results obtained by Chaddad (2001), Soboh et al. (2012) and Pozuelo et al. (2012). This suggests that policies to strengthen the legally imposed self-financing are able to counteract the traditional limitation when attracting equity capital, resulting in a more solid financial structure in cooperatives. In addition, we have made progress identifying the reasons for the observed different levels of indebtedness, which are related to a lower level of short term debts. In our opinion, the identified differences could be explained by a higher level of commercial debt in corporate enterprises. In any case, the results are inconclusive in identifying the financial debt as a factor to explain the lower level of overall indebtedness observed in cooperatives. Significant differences were also observed in productivity indicators, which show a greater capacity to generate value over investment in personnel in cooperatives. Additionally, the operating profit per employee is higher in cooperatives than in investor owned firms. Although throughout crisis times cooperatives are associated to better job retention levels, this policy seems to have no impact on the return rates observed in our study. This could be explained by the wage adjustments seen in worker cooperatives, so as to prevent redundancies of members. Moreover, achieving adequate rates of return is one of the basic elements required for the survival of any business. The results of the analysis, although not statistically significant, suggest higher rates of economic and financial profitability in cooperatives, in this way contradicting most previous works, although being consistent with those observed by Hind (1994). Limitations: The project only considers two-year worth of data, so we have not enough evidence to draw any relevant conclusions on the evolution of the observed indicators. Future work will study the effects of the global crisis on the two groups using longer time series. It will also be of interest to go deeper into the individualized analysis of the specific characteristics and policies of cooperatives as a cause of the identified differences. Conclusions: Despite the convulsion that the bankruptcy of Fagor Electrodomésticos - one of the leading cooperatives- caused, the Basque cooperativism presents better indicators in most of the variables compared to those of capital companies, which allows us to consider them as a fundamental driver for of wealth and employment in the Basque Country. The results may be useful when considering the revision and consolidation of some of the elements that have shaped the cooperative model up to the present, with the aim of contributing to the consolidation and strength of cooperatives as alternatives to generate wealth and employment. Resumen Como figura asociativa, las empresas de la economía social son un enfoque emergente de la actividad humana organizada y productiva. Son organizaciones híbridas porque buscan combinar su misión social con su quehacer comercial. Ahora que el marco económico de México confirma esta alternativa para hacer frente a los problemas sociales, es menester detectar una perspectiva teórica para abordar su operación cotidiana. El objetivo del capítulo es introducir la teoría del capital social para abordar la operación de la empresa social, específicamente en cuanto a su misión social, su innovación organizativa y su infraestructura social. Esta investigación teórica es base para la posterior generación de evidencia empírica en el contexto mexicano. El resultado es la construcción de manifestaciones de capital social en su intersección con los tres ejes de la operación de estas empresas. A modo de conclusión y como extensión del conocimiento, se detectó que la capacidad de operación de estas organizaciones híbridas está marcada por tensiones paradójicas entre lo individual y lo colectivo, lo jerárquico y lo democrático, lo alternativo y lo convencional. Abstract As an associative figure, the companies of the social economy are an emerging focus of organized and productive human activity. They are hybrid organizations because they seek to combine their social mission with their commercial work. Now that the economic framework of Mexico confirms this alternative to face social problems, it is necessary to detect a theoretical perspective to explain its daily operation. The objective of this chapter is to introduce the theory of social capital to explain the operation of the social enterprise, in terms of its social mission, its organizational innovation and its social infrastructure. This theoretical research is the basis for the generation of empirical evidence in Mexican context. The result is the construction of the intersection between social capital and the three axes of the operation of these companies. http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.4294864 The purpose of this article is to synthesize the application of instruments to measure the management of the Social Balance in financial entities of the Popular and Solidarity Economy, which allows adaptation to a real socioeconomic context. Based on a systematic review of literature in Social Balance publications and models, established through quantitative and qualitative indicators generated through the seven universal cooperative principles. The application of indicators is executed under the use of formulas that will allow the identification of shortcomings and possible solutions based on the results obtained, which may be comparable from one year to the next, contributing to generate social responsibility, having as a priority the human being before the economic and financial activities of the institutions that carry it out. http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.4294864 El presente trabajo tiene como propósito sintetizar la aplicación de instrumentos para medir la gestión del Balance Social en entidades financieras de la Economía Popular y Solidaria, que permita adaptarse a un contexto socioeconómico real. Está basado en una revisión sistemática de literatura, en publicaciones, y en modelos de Balance Social, establecidos mediante indicadores cuantitativos y cualitativos generados a través de los siete principios cooperativos universales. La aplicación de indicadores se ejecuta bajo la utilización de fórmulas que permitirá identificar falencias fundamentadas en los resultados obtenidos que podrán ser comparables de un año a otro contribuyendo a generar responsabilidad social, teniendo como prioridad al ser humano ante las actividades económicas y financieras de las instituciones que lo realicen.

Este artigo visa estudar a atuação do Sescoop/MG na capacitação das organizações cooperativas do ramo agropecuário e de seus cooperados, através de uma análise do seu funcionamento em âmbito estadual. O método de pesquisa utilizado foi o questionário que foi enviado para as cooperativas agropecuárias às quais se teve acesso em Minas Gerais. Entre os resultados, postula-se que as capacitações organizadas pelo Sescoop aparentam ter um trabalho formatado sem considerar as diferenças de perfil entre os produtores associados às cooperativas, considerando-os homogêneos, além de não atender às suas prováveis características, lógicas e necessidades distintas. Esta pesquisa objetiva determinar o nível de disclosure de informações ambientais nas demonstrações financeiras das cooperativas agropecuárias de avicultura do estado do Paraná. Para tanto, foram analisadas as demonstrações contábeis e relatórios de sustentabilidade referentes ao período de 2018. Identificaram-se os motivos que levam essas cooperativas a divulgarem dados ambientais. Este estudo se classifica como descritivo explicativo pelo fato de se destinar a explicar os fatores que determinam a evidenciação de informações ambientais. Quanto à abordagem do problema, foram utilizados métodos qualitativos, analisando a contabilidade ambiental, a teoria da divulgação, bem como outros referenciais. Foram, também, utilizados métodos quantitativos, em função da análise estatística dos dados na pesquisa. Em relação aos procedimentos, caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa documental. Para a análise dos dados utilizou-se uma métrica para a análise de conteúdo e foram desenvolvidos três índices para a avaliação: 1) nível de aderência de cooperativas de avicultura à evidenciação voluntária; 2) nível de disclosure das cooperativas em relação ao máximo de informações que estas poderiam divulgar; e 3) nível de evidenciação em relação ao número total de cooperativas analisadas. Com base nestes índices, concluiu-se que todas as cooperativas analisadas apresentam algum nível de informação de caráter ambiental havendo, no entanto, a necessidade de ampliar a divulgação no que tange às categorias de Mercado de Créditos de Carbono, bem como de Impactos dos Produtos e Processos no Meio Ambiente. Ressalta-se que os resultados não podem ser generalizados, pois se restringem a uma amostra de um setor específico e a um único período contábil. This research aims to determine the level of disclosure in the financial statements of poultry farming cooperatives in the state of Paraná. To achieve that, were analyzed the financial statements and sustainability reports of 2018. It is intended to identify the reasons that lead these cooperatives to disclose environmental data. This study is classified as explanatory descriptive because it is intended to explain the factors that determine the disclosure of environmental information. About the approaching of the problem, qualitative methods were used, analyzing environmental accounting, disclosure theory, as well as other references. Quantitative methods were also used, depending of the statistical analysis of the data in the research. Regarding the procedures, it is characterized as a documentary research. For data analysis a metric was used for content analysis and three indices were developed for the evaluation: 1) level of adherence of poultry cooperatives to voluntary disclosure; 2) level of disclosure of cooperatives regarding the maximum information they could disclose; and 3) level of disclosure in relation to the total number of cooperatives analyzed. Based on these indices, it was concluded that all analyzed cooperatives present some level of environmental information, however, there is a need to broaden the disclosure regarding the Carbon Credit Market categories, as well as the Impacts of Products and Process in the Environment. It is noteworthy that the results cannot be generalized, since they are restricted to a sample of a specific sector and to a single accounting period.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the history of Costa Rican self-managed agrarian cooperativism, from 1970 to 1980. The concept of self-management, mainly referring to community-owned peasant relations, became important in the political debate for rural development as a tool for agricultural modernization and access to resources by landless peasants. The impulse, conformation and control of community enterprises, without being an exclusive task of the Costa Rican State, is presented as a space of confluence ofmultiple actors, of negotiations and conflicts, in which the peasants played a leading role.This is analyzed through the literature review, the search of internal documentation of the cooperatives and the dialogue between the peasant leader Ernesto Pérez and the researcher Oscar Leiva El presente trabajo tiene como finalidad analizar la historia del cooperativismo agrario autogestionario costarricense desde 1970 hasta 1980. El concepto de autogestión, referido principalmente a relaciones campesinas de propiedad comunitaria, se tornó importante en el debate político para el desarrollo rural como herramienta de modernización agropecuaria y de acceso a recursos por parte de campesinos sin tierra. El impulso, la conformación y el control de empresas comunitarias, sin ser labores exclusivas del Estado costarricense, se presentan como un espacio de confluencia de múltiples actores, negociaciones y conflictos, en los cuales los campesinos jugaron un rol protagónico. Lo anterior se analiza con base en la revisión bibliográfica, la consulta de documentación interna de las cooperativas y el diálogo continuo con el líder campesino Ernesto Pérez.

La interacción entre el empleo en las cooperativas y el ciclo económico permite analizar el comportamiento de las cooperativas en la región de Andalucía –España–. El análisis tiene como objetivo determinar el potencial generador de empleo de las cooperativas españolas, concretamente, en esa región. Se utiliza una metodología inductiva mediante un análisis estadístico descriptivo y un análisis shift-share. Los resultados muestran que, respecto a España, Andalucía se destaca significativamente en parte de las variables observadas. Entre 2005-2016 aumentó en mayor porcentaje el número de personas empleadas en las cooperativas de la región que en el conjunto del país y durante el periodo de crisis (2008-2015), las cooperativas incrementaron el número de trabajadores ocupados poniendo de manifiesto la mayor capacidad de generar empleo que otras formas jurídicas. The interaction between employment in cooperatives and the economic cycle enables us to analyse the behavior of cooperatives in the region of Andalusia –Spain–. Our objective is to determine the employment generating potential of Spanish cooperative, specifically, in Andalusia. An inductive approach with a descriptive statistical method and a shift-share analysis were used. The results confirm that, as regards to Spain, Andalusia significantly stands out in some of the observed variables. During the period 2005-2016, the number of people employed in cooperatives in the region rose in a higher percentage than in rest of the country. In particular, during the crisis period (2008-2015), there was an increase of employed workers in cooperatives, which showed the stronger employment creation capacity of this type of entities compared to other legal forms.

Esta investigación tiene como objetivo analizar el proceso de apropiación social del conocimiento de los productores/procesadores de cacao, agrupados en cooperativas activas en el estado Táchira (Venezuela), específicamente los municipios Samuel Darío Maldonado y Fernández Feo, que han recibido asistencia técnica de la Universidad Nacional Experimental del Táchira (UNET). Dicha asistencia consiste en la ejecución de un programa para el rescate del «Cacao criollo» en la zona, rubro que estaba en proceso de extinción debido a la creciente incorporación de «cacaos híbridos» (Forasteros y Trinitarios) durante la década de 1960. La aplicación de la asistencia técnica acompañada con el proceso científico ha generado un proceso de apropiación social de conocimiento para los productores, que se refleja en el factor de crecimiento en pro de la optimización de la producción del «Cacao criollo». Metodológicamente es una investigación descriptiva con diseño o estrategia de campo y la encuesta como instrumento de recolección de datos de la fuente original, cuya población y muestra se determinó a través del muestreo intencionado, dado que el criterio de selección se centró en los cooperativistas que recibieron inducción o beneficios del mencionado programa. Entre los resultados más resaltantes se encuentran los siguientes: el 48% aprendió técnicas de cacao del padre o de un familiar; las técnicas aprendidas las aplican en un 100%, que primero las prueban y luego las adoptan; comparten conocimientos en un 92% con sus familiares y amigos. Así mismo, los productores prefieren en un 92% prácticas de campo simultáneas a la explicación teórica de la técnica, por lo que se infiere la preferencia de «aprender haciendo». Además, entre las técnicas más aplicadas están la poda de mantenimiento, poda de formación, fermentación, control de malezas, poda fitosanitaria e injertación. This research aims to analyze the process of social appropriation of knowledge of the cocoa producers, grouped in the active cooperatives in the Tachira State (Venezuela), specifically in Samuel Dario Maldonado and Fernandez Feo municipalities, which have received technical assistance from the National Experimental University of Táchira (Universidad Nacional Experimental del Táchira, UNET). This mentioned assistance consists on a program execution for the rescue of Creole cocoa in the region. During the 1960s, this item was in the process of extinction due to the incorporation of cocoa hybrids (so called Outsiders and Trinitarians). The application of technical assistance accompanied by a scientific method has generated a process of social appropriation of knowledge for the producers, which is reflected in the growth factor in favor of the production improvement of Creole cocoa. Methodologically, it is a descriptive study with a field design or strategy. In the survey as an instrument for data collection from the original source, whose population and sample was determined by intentional sampling, the selection criterion was focused on cooperatives who received induction or benefits of the technical assistance program. Main findings are resumed as follows: 48% of cocoa techniques are learned from their fathers or any relative; techniques apprehended were applied in a 100%, since they test them first and they adopt them later; and, finally 92% of sample share their knowledge with their relatives and friends. Most of producers (92%) prefer field practices simultaneous to the theoretical technique explanation, thus, it is inferred their preference for «learning by doing». In addition, the most applied techniques were the maintenance and the training pruning, fermentation, weed control, the phytosanitary pruning and grafting. Cette recherche vise à analyser le processus d’appropriation sociale de la connaissance des producteurs de cacao, regroupés en coopératives actives dans l’État de Táchira Venezuela, en particulier les municipalités Samuel Dario Maldonado et Fernandez Feo, qui ont reçu une assistance technique de l’Université Nationale Expérimentale de Táchira (Universidad Nacional Experimental del Táchira, UNET). Cette assistance met en œuvre un programme pour sauver le « Cacao créole » dans la région. Point qui était en voie d’extinction, par l’incorporation de « Cacaos hybrides » (les outsiders et trinitaires) au cours des années 60. L’application de l’assistance technique accompagnée du processus scientifique, a généré un processus d’appropriation sociale de la connaissance pour les producteurs, reflétée dans le facteur de croissance vers l’optimisation de la production de « Cacao créole ». Méthodologiquement, c’est une conception de la recherche descriptive ou de la stratégie sur le terrain et l’enquête comme un outil de collecte de données à partir de la source d’origine, dont la population et l’échantillon a été déterminé par un échantillonnage raisonné, étant donné que les critères de sélection sont axés sur l’induction coopérative ou les avantages reçus du programme mentionné. Parmi les résultats les plus significatifs sont les suivants: 48% des producteurs apprennent les techniques de cacao de son père ou d’un membre de la famille; les techniques apprises sont appliquées à 100%, tel qu’elles sont testées d’abord et ensuite adoptées; le (92%) des producteurs partagent les connaissances avec la famille et les amis. Les producteurs préfèrent le (92%) de la pratique de champ simultané à l’explication théorique de la technique, donc la préférence de «l’apprentissage par la pratique» est déduite. En outre, parmi les techniques les plus appliquées sont: la taille de l’entretien, l’élagage, la fermentation, le contrôle des mauvaises herbes, la taille phytosanitaire de la plante et le greffage. Metodologicamente, é uma investigação descritiva e trabalho de campo com questionário enquanto pesquisa de campocujas informações foram obtidas através de amostragem intencional, sendo que o critério de seleção se centrou nos donos das cooperativas que receberam indução ou benefícios do programa mencionado. O cooperativismo é um modelo de economia solidária que procura maximizar o predomínio do fator trabalho sobre o fator capital, esta pode ser composta por associados, produtores autônomos ou produtores que formam unidades produtivas comuns (Oliveira 2007). Na agricultura o papel do associativismo apresenta relevância, haja vista a dificuldade que o agricultor tem para a execução de suas atividades. Nesse sentido, o objetivo desse estudo é analisar como a formação de associação cooperativa fortaleceu os agricultores familiares do Agreste da Paraíba. Os dados foram coletados através de entrevistas realizadas junto aos agricultores e complementadas com a análise de dados secundários e da observação não participante. Os principais resultados apontam que a formação da Associação de Desenvolvimento Econômico, Social e Comunitário (ADESC) dos produtores rurais do Município de Lagoa Seca, PB fortaleceu estes, de modo que a associação apresenta resultados positivos e foi incluída no Programa de Aquisição de Alimentos (PAA). The cooperative is a model of solidarity economy that seeks to maximize the predominance of labor over capital factor, this can consist of associated, independent producers or producers that make common production units (Oliveira, 2007). In agriculture the role of associations has relevance, given the difficulty that the farmer has to perform its activities. In this sense, the objective of this study is to analyze how the formation of cooperative association strengthened family farmers Wasteland of Paraíba. Data were collected through interviews with farmers and supplemented with secondary data analysis and non participant observation. The main results show that the formation of the Association for Community Economic Development, and Social (ACEDS) of farmers in the municipality of Lagoa Seca, PB strengthened these, so that the association presents positive results and was included in the Food Acquisition Program (FAP). La cooperativa es un modelo de economía solidaria que tiene como objetivo maximizar el predominio del trabajo sobre el factor de la capital, esto puede consistir en, productores o productores independientes asociados que componen las unidades de producción comunes (Oliveira, 2007). En la agricultura el papel de las asociaciones tiene relevancia, dada la dificultad de que el agricultor tiene que llevar a cabo sus actividades. En este sentido, el objetivo de este estudio es analizar cómo la formación de la asociación de cooperación reforzada agricultores familiares Wasteland de Paraíba. Los datos fueron recolectados a través de entrevistas con los agricultores y se complementaron con análisis de datos secundarios y la observación no participante. Los principales resultados muestran que la formación de la Asociación para el Desarrollo Económico de la Comunidad y Social (ADESC) de los agricultores en el municipio de Lagoa Seca, PB fortaleció estos, por lo que la asociación presenta resultados positivos y se incluyó en el Programa de Adquisición de Alimentos (PAA).

El objetivo es presentar una breve revisión de categorías teóricas que nos ayuden a entender la cadena de valor en el contexto de la actividad florícola, mostrando previamente algunos rasgos significativos de la mencionada actividad a nivel local, para luego articular los conceptos teóricos con los referentes empíricos. Se presentarán los puntos de contacto entre el sector rural e industrial donde el rol de la/s cooperativa/s, que agrupan a la mayoría de los productores de este subsector rural es una pieza clave para el análisis de los aspectos mencionados., The article aims to identify the relationship between industry and the floriculture as a subsector at the District of La Plata, where rural activity has particular characteristics in the organization of production and marketing as well as in the use of the space and capital. Este trabajo trata sobre la historia del movimiento cooperativo y sus principios, dando el conocimiento para diferenciar una cooperativa de otras organizaciones. Además, se refiere específicamente a cada principio de cooperación y se analiza la aplicabilidad de éstos una cooperativa de crédito con sede en el estado de Tocantins. Metodológicamente, se utilizó el método del caso, y los datos recogidos a través de entrevista semi-estructurada. Los resultados muestran que la cooperativa cumpla con los principios de cooperación en la práctica y su principal problema es la participación de los miembros. Esse trabalho trata sobre o histórico do cooperativismo e seus princípios, dando o conhecimento para diferenciar uma cooperativa das demais organizações. Além disso, aborda especificamente cada princípio cooperativo, e analisa a aplicabilidade desses numa cooperativa de crédito situada no estado do Tocantins. This paper deals with history and principles of cooperatives, giving the knowledge to differentiate a cooperative from other organizations. Great environment-related changes have been occurring and been discussed by a growing number of not only specialists, but non-specialists as well. Sensitive impacts have occurred too in the manner in which food is produced. New strategies have emerged not only in economic or organizational factors, but also in the new standards in food consumption with strong emphasis on characteristics of the sustainability approach.Therefore it is relevant to note that special organizational arrangements, such as the “consumers cooperatives”, sustained by the concepts of network governance and institutional process, can help in the application and publicizing of new concepts in the food market and maybe advance towards more sustainable alternatives. Using an exploratory study, based on the Seikatsu Club experience, which is related to the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and to the Sanchoku system, it is possible to verify the benefits that a closer relationship between organic consumers and farming producers can bring to the formation of social networks that internalize various characteristics of sustainability. This closer relationship or structural embeddeness between the members is oriented by social values like health, welfare, local conditions, cooperation, and freedom, among others, leading to more sustainable solutions., Grandes cambios relacionados al entorno están ocurriendo y siendo discutidos por un creciente número tanto de expertos, como de miembros de la sociedad en general. La manera como los alimentos son producidos también causa impactos en el medio ambiente y en la salud de las personas. Nuevas estrategias emergen para tratar de la seguridad de los alimentos. Dichas estrategias no son basadas solamente en factores económicos u organizacionales, sino también en nuevos patrones en el consumo de alimentos, con énfasis en características del desarrollo sostenible. Además, cada vez más son valorados los arreglos productivos (u organizacionales), como el de las “cooperativas de consumidores”, basadas en los conceptos de redes sociales y legitimadas por procesos institucionales. Esas nuevas configuraciones pueden auxiliar en la aplicación y difusión de nuevos conceptos en el mercado de alimentos y pueden avanzar en dirección a alternativas más sostenibles. Usando un estudio exploratorio basado en la experiencia del Seikatsu Club, que se orienta por el movimiento Agricultura Apoyada en la Comunidad (Community Supported Agriculture – CSA) y por el sistema Sanchoku. Esos movimientos e las acciones por ellos practicadas proporcionan beneficios debido al relacionamiento más directo entre consumidores de productos orgánicos y productores rurales orgánicos japoneses, que, también participan de redes sociales y están alineados a la lógica de la sustentibilidad. Eso conduce a soluciones más sostenibles para toda la sociedad., Grandes mudanças, relacionadas ao meio ambiente, estão ocorrendo e sendo discutidas por um crescente número tanto de especialistas como de membros da sociedade em geral. A maneira como os alimentos são produzidos também causa impactos no meio ambiente e na saúde das pessoas. Novas estratégias emergem para tratar da segurança dos alimentos. Elas não são somente baseadas em fatores econômicos ou organizacionais, mas, também, em novos padrões no consumo de alimentos, com ênfase em características do desenvolvimento sustentável. Além disso, são cada vez mais valorizados os arranjos produtivos (ou organizacionais), como o das “cooperativas de consumidores”, baseadas nos conceitos de redes sociais e legitimadas por processos institucionais. Essas novas configurações podem auxiliar na aplicação e difusão de novos conceitos no mercado de alimentos e podem avançar em direção a alternativas mais sustentáveis. 33. Análisis de los factores explicativos de la rentabilidad de las empresas vinícolas de Castilla-la mancha

El sector del vino experimenta, en las últimas décadas, un vertiginoso proceso de cambio y nuevas dinámicas, que están afectando el desempeño y estrategias de las empresas del sector: internacionalización creciente, caída de los mercados internos de los países tradicionalmente productores, entrada de capital exógeno, etc. La pericia que muestre la organización para adecuarse a la nueva situación se reflejará en la rentabilidad, indicador básico para juzgar la eficiencia en la gestión empresarial. En este estudio, a partir de una muestra representativa de empresas de Castilla-La Mancha, región española con la mayor dimensión vinícola mundial, se ha planteado un modelo econométrico novedoso integrado por variables de desempeño, definidas con la técnica de componentes principales. De los resultados obtenidos se infiere que la rentabilidad de las empresas proviene de: a) su estructura societaria (mayor si son empresas capitalistas que sociedades cooperativas), b) de su tamaño (mejor desempeño a mayor tamaño, aprovechando economías de escala), y c) estructura financiera (mayor rentabilidad si en la composición de la misma priman los recursos propios y liquidez). Por el contrario, la falta de financiación permanente para hacer frente al activo fijo y una dinámica comercial más orientada hacia las ventas de vino a granel a bajo precio, reducen significativamente los ratios de rentabilidad. The wine sector in recent decades is experiencing a vertiginous process of changes and new dynamics that are affecting the performance and strategies of firms in the sector: growing internationalization, the fall in the domestic markets of traditional producing countries, the entrance of exogenous capital, etc. The expertise that a given organization demonstrates to adapt to the new situation will be reflected in profitability, the basic indicator for judging efficiency in business management. Starting from a representative sample of firms from Castilla-La Mancha, the greatest wineproducing region in the world, this paper poses a new econometric model consisting of the performance variables defined by the principal component technique. It is inferred from the results that business profitability comes from three variables. First is company structure with greater profitability for capitalist firms than for cooperatives. Second is size where performance is better the larger the size, taking advantage of scale economies. Third is financial structure with greater cost-effectiveness when the firm's make- up prioritizes its own resources and liquidity. On the contrary, the lack of permanent financing to address fixed assets and a trade dynamic orientated toward the sale of low-priced bulk wine significantly reduce profitability ratios. Esta pesquisa buscou analisar os resultados econômicos e sociais gerados pela comercialização dos créditos de carbono, por parte das cooperativas rurais brasileiras. Quanto aos resultados, pode-se constatar que, na maioria das cooperativas agropecuárias pesquisadas, há participação de empresas intermediárias, que são os arrendatários dos Mecanismos de Desenvolvimento Limpo (MDL), os quais também repassam, às cooperativas, uma porcentagem advinda das reduções certificadas de emissões. Na maioria dos casos, também há benefícios secundários, resultantes dos MDL. Nesses projetos, em que há participação de terceiros, a principal atividade econômica da cooperativa não tem ligação direta com o mecanismo. Não se observou participação ou apoio de órgãos governamentais e representativos do setor cooperativista na maioria dos projetos. Em conclusão, considerou-se que, mesmo quando a cooperativa não é a proprietária dos MDL, seu envolvimento tem importância tanto pela agregação de ganhos financeiros e secundários quanto pela utilização de um ativo ambiental anteriormente inutilizado.

Considering that these developments differ from any business because it was there is of principles and doctrines aspects that distinguish them from other companies, especially those related to the inter-cooperation and concern for the community. It arose from the assumption that "It is likely that the agribusiness cooperatives in the west of Parana state are suitable for strategic management of inter-cooperation for development, generating economic and social growth and contributing to regional economic development." The first analysis examined the relationships of inter-cooperation that these cooperatives have with each other. Subsequently, we examined their growth, considering the Gross Sales, Fixed Assets, Equity, increasing the number of cooperative members and employees, increase within the last ten years. Then there is the efficiency to manage the Capital, to calculate the Economic Value Added, to evaluate whether the cooperatives add value or destroy the capital of its members and financial independence, to know whether they have sufficient capitalization to cope with new investments without compromising its operating results. Finally, we sought whether the cooperatives contribute to the growth of the municipalities where they are located. With all these perspectives of analysis, it is concluded that the cooperatives should get tested for inter increase and improvements in its management to do with the new requirements of market competition, satisfying serve their members in a better way and contribute more to the growth of the communities in which they are inserted. Esta pesquisa, cujo título é O Crescimento e Desenvolvimento Sócio-Econômico das Cooperativas Agroindustriais do Oeste do Paraná , apresenta uma nova metodologia de análise de cooperativas. Considerando-se que estes empreendimentos diferem de uma empresa qualquer, pois existem os aspectos de princípios e doutrinas que as distinguem de outras empresas, principalmente aos que se referem à intercooperação e à preocupação com a comunidade. Partiu-se da hipótese de que É provável que as cooperativas agroindustriais do Oeste do Paraná estejam adequadas a uma gestão estratégica de intercooperação para se desenvolverem, gerando crescimento econômico e social e contribuindo para o desenvolvimento econômico regional . A análise examinou primeiramente as relações de intercooperação que essas cooperativas mantêm entre si. Posteriormente, examinou-se o crescimento delas, considerando o Faturamento Bruto, o Ativo Permanente, o Patrimônio Líquido, o aumento do número de cooperados e de funcionários, no período dos últimos dez anos. Em seguida, verificou-se a eficiência que possuem ao administrar o Capital Social, calculando-se o Valor Econômico Agregado, para avaliar se as referidas cooperativas agregam valor ou destroem o capital de seus cooperados e a independência financeira, conhecer se possuem capitalização suficiente a fim de fazer frente aos novos investimentos sem comprometer demasiadamente seus resultados operacionais. E por fim, buscou-se saber se essas mesmas cooperativas contribuem com o crescimento dos municípios onde estão localizadas suas sedes. Com todas essas perspectivas de análise, concluiu-se que as cooperativas analisadas devem buscar aumento de intercooperação e melhorias na sua gestão para fazerem frente às novas exigências de competitividade no mercado, satisfazer melhor a seus cooperados e contribuir mais com o crescimento das comunidades em que estão inseridas.

[ENG] Abstract –– Introduction. Agricultural cooperatives play an important socio-economic role in European (EU) countries, especially in the fresh fruit and vegetable sector. For this reason, in an economic perspective, the measurement of their efficiency has become an area of investigation which attracts great interest. Given that Spain and Italy are the biggest producers of fresh fruits and vegetables, the aim of this paper was to recognize the evolution of their technical efficiency. Materials and methods. Performance analysis in the economic field is rather controversial. Following Parkan (2002), it is possible to classify three main approaches to measure performance: index numbers; frontier methods and the non-parametric approaches. In this paper, efficiency was evaluated by applying the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) technique considering two separate frontiers. Through the AIDA database for Italian agricultural cooperatives and the SABI database for Spanish cooperatives, two different sets of 81 and 106 firms, respectively belonging to the fruit and vegetable sector, were selected over a five-year period (2001–2005). Results. The analysis of the DEA results underlines the higher ability of Italian cooperatives to calibrate and optimize the inputs, and to maximize the results (technical efficiency), as well as the ability of Spanish cooperatives to exploit scale economies. Conclusions. Over the period taken into consideration, the average value of global technical efficiency decreased for Spanish as well as Italian cooperatives. In the case of Spanish cooperatives, this situation is due to the loss of ability to calibrate and optimize the inputs, even if the considered firms reveal ability to develop scale economies. In the case of Italian cooperatives, the results reveal the substantial firm technical efficiency, even if scale inefficiency undermines the global efficiency. [FRE] Résumé –– Introduction. Les coopératives agricoles jouent un rôle socio-économique important dans les pays européens (UE) et, en particulier, dans le secteur des fruits et légumes frais. Pour cette raison, d’un point de vue économique, la mesure de son efficacité est devenue un champ d'investigation qui suscite un grand intérêt. L'Espagne et l'Italie étant les plus grands producteurs de fruits et légumes frais de l’UE, mous avons cherché à étudier l'évolution de leur efficacité technique. Matériel et méthodes. L’évaluation des performances dans le domaine économique est plutôt controversée. Selon Parkan (2002), il est possible d’envisager trois approches principales pour mesurer ces performances : utilisation de nombres-indices ; méthodes des frontières, et méthodes non paramétriques. Dans cet article, l'efficacité du secteur a été évaluée à l’aide d’une analyse d'enveloppement des données (AED) en considérant deux frontières séparées. À partir de la base de données AIDA pour les coopératives agricoles italiennes et de la base de données SABI pour les coopératives espagnoles, deux ensembles différents de 81 et 106 sociétés, appartenant respectivement au secteur des fruits et des légumes, ont été choisis sur une période de cinq ans (2001–2005). Résultats. L'analyse des résultats de l’AED a mis en évidence une capacité plus élevée des coopératives italiennes à calibrer et à optimiser les intrants et à maximiser les résultats (efficacité technique) aussi bien qu’une capacité des coopératives espagnoles à utiliser des économies d'échelle. Conclusions. Au cours de la période prise en compte, la valeur moyenne de l'efficacité technique globale a diminué pour les coopératives espagnoles comme pour les coopératives italiennes. Dans le cas des coopératives espagnoles, cette situation est due à une perte de la capacité à calibrer et optimiser les intrants, même si les sociétés considérées ont la capacité de développer des économies d'échelle. Dans le cas des coopératives italiennes, les résultats indiquent une efficacité technique substantielle des entreprises, même si l'inefficacité d'échelle mine l'efficacité globale. [ESP] Resumen –– Introducción. Las cooperativas agrícolas juegan un importante papel socioeconómico en los países europeos (UE) y, en particular, en el sector de las frutas y hortalizas frescas. Por ello, desde un punto de vista económico, la medida del rendimiento de dichas empresas se viene convirtiendo en un campo de investigación que suscita gran interés. España e Italia son los países productores más importantes de productos hortofrutícolas de la Unión Europea, por lo que el principal objetivo del presente estudio es conocer la evolución de sus niveles de eficiencia técnica. Material y métodos. En el campo económico, la medida de desempeño es un tema bastante controvertido. Según Parkan (2002), se pueden contemplar tres enfoques diferentes para medir el rendimiento: número índices, métodos de frontera y métodos no paramétricos. En este artículo, la eficiencia del sector ha sido evaluada aplicando la técnica del Análisis Envolvente de Datos (AED) considerando dos fronteras separadas. A partir de la base de datos AIDA para las cooperativas agrarias italianas y de la base de datos SABI para las cooperativas españolas, se seleccionaron dos muestras del sector hortofrutícola de 81 y 106 sociedades, respectivamente, para un periodo de cinco años (2001 a 2005). Resultados. El análisis de los resultados DEA evidencia una mayor capacidad de las cooperativas italianas para optimizar sus inputs y maximizar sus resultados (eficiencia técnica), así como la capacidad de las cooperativas españolas para explotar las economías de escala. Conclusión. En relación al periodo temporal evaluado, el valor medio de la eficiencia técnica global disminuye para las cooperativas españolas así como para las italianas. En el caso de las cooperativas españolas, esta situación es debida a la falta de optimización de sus inputs, incluso cuando las sociedades consideradas revelan cierta capacidad para desarrollas economías de escala. En el caso de las cooperativas italianas, los resultados indican la existencia de un firme nivel de eficiencia técnica, si bien se detecta la presencia de importantes ineficiencias de escala. A análise do setor de triagem de uma cooperativa formada por catadores de material reciclável é objeto deste estudo. Utilizando a metodologia da Análise Ergonômica do Trabalho (AET), demonstra-se que, além dos riscos de acidentes e doenças, outras fontes de desconforto são geradas pela forma de organização adotada. O redirecionamento dos trabalhadores do antigo aterro sanitário para a cooperativa, na busca da inclusão social com geração de renda, intensificou sinais de sofrimento psíquico, sobrecarga física e mental e, especialmente, potencializou problemas financeiros que demandam modificações na organização do trabalho e parcerias institucionais. The object of this paper is the analysis of a selection sector in a recycled material catcher cooperative. By using the Ergonomic Work Analysis, the paper shows that besides work-related risks and diseases other sources of discomfort are generated by the work organization mode. The guidance of workers from the Municipal Landfill Site to the cooperative organization in search of social inclusion and income generation activities seemed to intensify psycho-suffering, mental and physical overload and especially it determined financial problems. This situation asks for changes in the work organization mode and requests institutional partnership.

En este trabajo, presentamos una caracterización sobre el cooperativismo agropecuario en la Argentina de los últimos tiempos desde una lente en particular: la capacidad de estas organizaciones para generar capital social, traducida en la presentación de algunos casos concretos. De este modo, el trabajo ?que forma parte de una investigación mayor- se divide en dos apartados y conclusiones. En el primero de ellos destacamos los aspectos teóricos en torno al capital social y las organizaciones cooperativas. En el segundo, mostramos, desde la clave teórica anterior, tres casos de cooperativas, de distinto tipo, de larga data en nuestro país: FeCoVita, AFA y SanCor. En cuanto a la metodología utilizada, se consideró una exhaustiva revisión de bibliografía vinculada al tema del capital social y, para la preparación de los casos, se tuvieron en cuenta información institucional provista por cada organización, estudios especializados y entrevistas en profundidad., In this paper, we present a characterization of the agricultural cooperatives in Argentina. In particular, we are interested in the capacity of these organizations to generate social capital. In order to this, we present some specific cases. Thus, the work, that takes part of a larger investigation, is divided in two sections and conclusions. Firstly, we emphasize in the theoretical aspects about social capital and cooperative organizations. Secondly, we show, with this theoretical key, three cases of cooperatives of different types: FeCoVita, AFA and SanCor.
