- Abstract
This teaching case provoke knowledge and learning about notions of symbolic value and symbolic consumption of cultural goods. Its learning goals are: (a) understanding the cultural meanings that sustain the activity of an organization; (b) identifying the challenges of cultural change in terms of the processes of symbolic value creation; and (c) thinking about the management strategies of symbolic value for dealing with the challenges of cultural change of context. The story in the case reports the symbolic experiences of the carnival block Cortejo Afro, an entity from Bahia, which works in the entertainment and culture segments and which produce events and performances related to the carnival context and Bahia's afro-culture. The case is real, based on a case study. But, the story is adapted, in part, for provoking learning about the change of cultural context. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
