With the growth of sustainable tourism research and its practical relevance in today's world, it is important to integrate and synthesize the vast amount ofintellectual work on this topic. This research applies a novel and robust structural topic modeling technique to analyze textual data from a total of 3289 research articles on sustainable tourism published between 1978 and 2022. The topics identified have been classified into macro, meso, and micro levels. Further, we compared and contrasted research themes across three time periods to provide a coherent, cohesive, and holistic overview of the extant literature in each period and discuss their contributions to knowledge. This article presents the publication trends, research evolution in the last four decades, and identifies emerging topics and future research opportunities to advance knowledge. Adolescents are considered a critical consumer segment due to their huge spending power and significant influence in family purchase decisions. Parents, peers, and media are the three essential socialization agents that significantly influence adolescents' consumer knowledge (awareness), attitudes (attitude toward ad, brand, and price), and purchase behavior via the process of consumer socialization. This meta‐analysis investigates the impact of these agents by integrating findings from 36 studies, including 194 relationships among 29,209 adolescent respondents. The study examines the moderating role of various cultural dimensions (individualistic, power distance, and masculinity), publication year, and age. The findings reveal that peers have the maximum number of significant effects, followed by media and parents. Parents and peers have a stronger impact on adolescents' attitudes toward brand in cultures that are high in individualism and power distance. The effects for many focal relationships are stronger in recent publications, which confirms the critical influence of the external environment, including access to the Internet and social media. Age, culture, and publication year moderate key relationships. The study contributes to consumer socialization literature and has practical implications for marketers interested in teenage consumers. Purpose: This paper aims to examine how content relevancy influences consumers' preference to receive and share fake news. Further, it investigates how these receivers perceive the social image of the people who share fake news. Finally, this study examines how brand strength and valence and credibility of fake content influence consumer's word-of-mouth recommendations, purchase intentions and attitude toward the brand. Design/methodology/approach: Three experiments were conducted to test the hypotheses. The data was analyzed using a two-way analysis of variance and PROCESS techniques. Findings: Findings indicate that people prefer to receive and share relevant content, even if it is fake. Sharing fake news conveys the sender's sociability but also creates a negative perception of narcissism. Individuals are more likely to recommend a brand if the fake news is perceived as credible and positive (vs negative). Finally, brand-strength can help brands to negate the harmful effects of fake news. Research limitations/implications: Future research can explore the role of group dynamics, tie-strength and media richness (text, image and videos) in the dispersion of fake news and its impact on brands. Practical implications: Marketers should communicate and educate consumers that sharing fake content can harm their social image, which can reduce information dispersion. Marketers should also improve brand-strength that can protect the brand against the adverse impact of fake news. Originality/value: This study contributes to the emerging literature on fake news by studying the impact of fake news on consumer intentions and attitudes toward the brand, which are critical for the success of any brand. Researchers have long been interested in the measurement of human values. Gandhi was a leading figure in the independence of India and also in the fight against racialism in South Africa. His teachings are invaluable and have inspired generations all over the world. Following standard procedure for scale development, we aim to identify the various Gandhian values that can be imbibed by an individual. We validate the applicability of the instrument by assessing its relationship with potentially related constructs like socially responsible consumption behavior and consumer frugality. We also assess its relationship with a negatively valenced construct of materialism. To develop the Gandhian values scale, we used a mix of both qualitative and quantitative methods. We conducted three data collection rounds corresponding with four separate phases of scale development. We ensured the stability of the Gandhian value scale across different contexts by testing and validating it across three different sets of sample. To the best of our knowledge, our scope of research is second only in the line of similar research like the Confucian values. Our primary contribution is the development and testing of a parsimonious Gandhian values scale that captures the value system of individuals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Consumers regularly track their expenses and assign them to categories like food, entertainment, and clothing, which is popularly known as mental accounting. In this paper, we show that consumption biases that result from mental accounting—underconsumption or overconsumption—are not prevalent in Easterners due to their holistic thinking style, whereas Westerners exhibit such biases due to their analytic thinking style. In Study 1, we collected data with Easterners (students from the eastern part of India) and show that they do not exhibit mental accounting biases as is seen in Westerners. In Study 2, we show that such differences in mental accounting across cultures result from their thinking styles by manipulating thinking styles within a Western population (American students from the Midwest). We also show that the differences in styles of thinking across cultures motivate two different types of accounting processes—a piecemeal accounting process in the Westerners and a comprehensive accounting process in the Easterners—which in turn influence the differences in mental accounting biases across cultures. This finding adds to the growing literature in cross‐cultural differences in consumer decision making and explores how and why a well‐documented robust effect, mental accounting, varies with the cultural background of the consumers. Despite the importance and widespread prevalence of brand being deleted, research on brand deletion is sparse. To address the paucity of research on brand deletion from the consumer’s perspective, this study investigates the consequences of brand deletion. Study 1 shows that when a brand is merged (vs. eliminated or sold), the deleted brand is weak (vs. strong) and the organization communicates the logic of such action (vs. no communication), leads to better evaluations of organizational performance while when a brand is sold (vs. eliminated or merged), the deleted brand is strong (vs. weak) and the organization communicates the logic of such action (vs. no communication), positive evaluations of corporate reputation is formed. Study 2A finds that when a brand is merged (vs. eliminated or sold) and the deleted brand is weak on love (vs. strong), positive evaluations of organizational performance is perceived. Study 2B finds that when a brand is merged (vs. eliminated or sold) and nostalgia intensity for the deleted brand is weak (vs. strong), positive evaluations of organizational performance is perceived. Relationship marketing (RM) theories often emphasize on the role of trust and commitment in affecting seller performance outcomes. We test a recently developed model in a field experiment that demonstrates that RM investments (RMI) generate feelings of gratitude depending on the different types of gratitude leveraging acts and affects purchase intentions. The results confirm the presence of previously untested relationship between trust and purchase intention. The existing model is extended by including the moderating effects of the nature of the medium of communication for the seller–customer interaction (i.e. face-to-face vs. telephonic communication), and the varying intangibility of the purchase context (i.e. product vs. service) on the above relationship. Third, evidence of the moderating influence of certain individual-level cultural value orientations (i.e. good vs. evil, changeable vs. unchangeable and doing vs. being) is found. Consumer decision styles (CDS) are important for marketers because they determine consumer behaviours that are relatively stable over time and hence are useful for market segmentation. The study has confirmed the existence of the original US characteristics as well as put forward two new characteristics specific to the Indian context, namely, ‘dissatisfied shopping consciousness’ and ‘store loyal’. Thereafter, a multi-step cluster analysis was employed to classify the respondents into groups based on their CDS. Five homogeneous and distinct decision-making segments have been identified. In order to validate the cluster solutions, aK-means clustering procedure was performed by taking random initial seeds to set the cluster centres. The paper also seeks to investigate whether consumers’ innovativeness is associated with their CDS. The findings are discussed and recommendations are proffered for managers and future research.
