Capital do Estado da Paraíba, Brasil, quando misturado com cal (CaO) em diferentes tempos de cura. Para a determinação da resistência do solo -cale, posteriormente, obtenção da porcentagem ideal cal, foram preparados, curados e testados corpos de prova. As amostras foram preparadas com porcentagens de cal variando de 2 a 12% e rompidas em tempos de cura de 0 a 180 dias. Os ensaios realizados mostraram que o teor ótimo de cal foi de 8% em peso. Com esta porcentagem obteve-se através de ensaios triaxias rápidos um ângulo de atrito de 69 e uma coesão de 0,60 Kg/cm . O solo no estado naturall apresentava um angulo de atrito de 0 o e uma coesão de 0,04 Kg/cm . Depois de 180 dias de cura obteve-se um aumento de resistência de cerca de 1000% quando se misturou 8% de cal ao solo. Foram realizados também ensaios de carga cíclica no laboratório para diferentes porcentagens de cal para se de terminar o aumento do módulo de deformabilidade . The present work studies the shear strength of an organic clay of João Pessoa, Capital of the state of Paraiba, Brazil, mixed with unslaked lime (CaO) and using different curing times. For determination of the shear strength of Lime - Stabilized Clay and for fin finding the optimun percentage of lime, testing cylinders wuere molded, cured and tested. The testing cilinders were prepared with amounts of lime varying from 2 t o 12% by weight, and tested at curing times varying from "0"to "180" days. The testing results have shown that the optimun amount o f lime was 8% by weight. Undrained triaxial tests of samples compacted at this optimun amount of lime, led to an angle of internal friction of 6° and cohesion of 0,60 Kg/2 cm . Undisturbed samples of the same clay, have shown with un drained triaxial tests, an angle of internal friction of 0° and cohesion of 0,04 Kg/cm . After 180 days of curing an increase of shear strength of more 1000% was obtained with an optimum lime content of 8%. A testingwith program cyclic loads was also conducted, for different amounts of soil- lime mixtures to determine the in crease in deformation modulus.
