AMPHIBIANS - Abstract
The study was focused on mapping the amphibians in the Litovelské Pomoraví during the years 2021 and 2023. We confirmed the occurrence of nine species and one hybridogenous taxon at 60 sites. The most common species in this area include the agile frog (Rana dalmatina), water frogs – marsh frog (Pelophylax ridibundus) and its hybridogenous form edible frog (Pelophylax esculentus), common toad (Bufo bufo) and, of the tailed amphibians, the smooth newt (Lissotriton vulgaris). Scattered instances of the European tree frog (Hyla arborea) were recorded. The European green toad (Bufotes viridis), European fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina), common frog (Rana temporaria), and great crested newt (Triturus cristatus) were rarely found. The common spadefoot toad (Pelobates fuscus), moor frog (Rana arvalis), fire salamander (Salamandra salamandra), and alpine newt (Ichthyosaura alpestris) were not recorded within the study area despite intensive mapping. Our data were compared with similar studies and historical records. On the basis of the data we collected, the most important sites from the point of view of batrachofauna were evaluated, for which a short proposal of measures and care with the aim of protection, conservation of habitats and the species itself was subsequently created. The most important localities in terms of batrachofauna are: a pond called Zámecký Rybník near Nové Zámky, temporary pools of the Plané Loučky Nature Reserve, pools of the Chomoutovské Jezero Nature Reserve, pools of the Kačení Louka Nature Reserve and railway pools near Červenka.
