Supersymmetry is an algebraic property of a class of quantum Hamiltonians, a guiding principle used in the development of nuclear theory and a concept that may underpin physics beyond the Standard Model. In condensed matter, any symmetry between bosonic and fermionic entities is usually strongly broken, as for the spin and charge sectors of the $t$-$J$ model describing the dynamics of fractionalized electrons in one-dimensional materials. While the triplet excitations of a quantum spin ladder in an applied magnetic field provide a close analogue of the $t$-$J$ chain, the supersymmetric nature of this system has not been explored. Here we perform neutron spectroscopy on the spin-ladder compounds (C$_5$D$_{12}$N)$_2$CuBr$_4$ and (C$_5$D$_{12}$N)$_2$CuCl$_4$ over a range of applied fields and temperatures, and apply matrix-product-state (MPS) methods to the ladder and equivalent chain models, to analyse the full, momentum-resolved dynamics of a single charge excitation in a bath of fractionalized spins. We find a dramatic difference in the effects of thermal fluctuations, where strong and coherent shifts of spectral weight at the zone edge contrast with a strict pole at the zone centre, whose persistence at all temperatures constitutes an observable consequence of supersymmetry in a quantum spin ladder.

Quantum spin liquids (QSLs) have become a key area of research in magnetism due to their remarkable properties, such as long-range entanglement, fractional excitations, pinch-point singularities, and topologically protected phenomena. In recent years, the search for QSLs has expanded into the three-dimensional world, where promising features have been found in materials that form pyrochlore and hyper-kagome lattices, despite the suppression of quantum fluctuations due to high dimensionality. One such material is the $S = 1$ K$_2$Ni$_2$(SO$_4$)$_3$ compound, which belongs to the langbeinite family consisting of two interconnected trillium lattices. Although magnetically ordered, K$_2$Ni$_2$(SO$_4$)$_3$ has been found to exhibit a highly dynamical and correlated state which can be driven into a pure quantum spin liquid under magnetic fields of only $B \simeq 4$~T. In this article, we combine inelastic neutron scattering measurements with pseudo-fermion functional renormalization group (PFFRG) and classical Monte Carlo (cMC) calculations to study the magnetic properties of K$_2$Ni$_2$(SO$_4$)$_3$, revealing a high level of agreement between the experiment and theory. We further reveal the origin of the dynamical state in K$_2$Ni$_2$(SO$_4$)$_3$ by studying a larger set of exchange parameters, uncovering an `island of liquidity' around a focal point given by a magnetic network composed of tetrahedra on a trillium lattice.

The motion of a spin excitation across topologically non-trivial magnetic order exhibits a deflection that is analogous to the effect of the Lorentz force on an electrically charged particle in an orbital magnetic field. We used polarized inelastic neutron scattering to investigate the propagation of magnons (i.e., bosonic collective spin excitations) in a lattice of skyrmion tubes in manganese silicide. For wave vectors perpendicular to the skyrmion tubes, the magnon spectra are consistent with the formation of finely spaced emergent Landau levels that are characteristic of the fictitious magnetic field used to account for the nontrivial topological winding of the skyrmion lattice. This provides evidence of a topological magnon band structure in reciprocal space, which is borne out of the nontrivial real-space topology of a magnetic order.

The crystal structure and magnetic correlations in triangular antiferromagnet FeGa$_2$S$_4$ are studied by x-ray diffraction, magnetic susceptibility, neutron diffraction and neutron inelastic scattering. We report significant mixing at the cation sites and disentangle magnetic properties dominated by major and minor magnetic sites. The magnetic short-range correlations at 0.77 \AA$^{-1}$ correspond to the major sites and being static at base temperature they evolve into dynamic correlations around 30 - 50 K. The minor sites contribute to the magnetic peak at 0.6 \AA$^{-1}$, which vanishes at 5.5 K. Our analytical studies of triangular lattice models with bilinear and biquadratic terms provide the ratios between exchanges for the proposed ordering vectors. The modelling of the inelastic neutron spectrum within linear spin wave theory results in the set of exchange couplings $J_1=1.7$\,meV, $J_2=0.9$\,meV, $J_3=0.8$\,meV for the bilinear Heisenberg Hamiltonian. The effect of externally applied pressure on the magnetic behavior of Cu2Te2O5(BrxCl{1-x})2 with x = 0, 0.73 and 1, is investigated by a combination of magnetic susceptibility, neutron diffraction and neutron inelastic scattering measurements. The magnetic transition temperatures of the x = 0 and 0.73 compositions are observed to increase linearly with increasing pressure at a rate of 0.23(2) K/kbar and 0.04(1) K/kbar respectively. However, the bromide shows contrasting behavior with a large suppression of the transition temperature under pressure, at a rate of -0.95(9) K/kbar. In neutron inelastic scattering measurements of Cu2Te2O5Br2 under pressure only a small change to the ambient pressure magnetic excitations were observed. A peak in the density of states was seen to shift from ~5 meV in ambient pressure to ~6 meV under an applied pressure of 11.3 kbar, which was associated with an increase in the overall magnetic coupling strength., Comment: 7 pages, 9 figures
