A method is proposed for the synthesis of the new heterocyclic system pyridazino-[4,3-b]indole which is based on the intramolecular condensation of ethyl 3-arylazoindol-2-ylacetates in the presence of bases.

Abstract

The reaction of ethyl 2-indolylacetate with alkylamines gave the corresponding amides, which were reduced with sodium borohydride to isotryptamines. The latter were converted to 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-γ-carboline derivatives by condensation with formaldehyde.

Abstract

A new method is proposed for the synthesis of 2-indolylacetic acid derivatives with a free β position by condensation of an alkyl-thioacetoacetic ester with arylhydrazines. Some of the reactions of the acids obtained were investigated.
