Teaching Chinese as a foreign language is a very important part of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and morphemes account for a large proportion of Chinese characters. In this paper, a questionnaire survey on the cognition of morphemes was conducted for each grade of students in the School of International Cultural Education of Heilongjiang University. Through the survey, it was concluded that international students in the Chinese culture circle and non-Chinese culture circle affect the cognition of morphemes at the primary stage, and a study on the teaching of morphemes in teaching Chinese as a foreign language based on the assistance of Internet of Things was proposed to analyze that students learning Chinese no longer affect the cognition of morphemes. In teaching Chinese as a foreign language, the use of the Internet of Things system and the introduction of video sensors (mainly for the access and computer analysis of spoken Chinese as a foreign language learner model) and voice sensor (mainly for the Chinese as a foreign language learner voice access and computer analysis), with the standard spoken language pattern in the software and the comparison of standard pronunciation, the oral mode and pronunciation of TCSL learners can be corrected. The experiment knows the biases that international students are prone to when learning Chinese characters and summarizes the implications for teaching Chinese characters to foreigners; in addition, the higher the level of learning, the higher is the degree of cognition of morphophonetic characters.

This article aims to explain the dimensions, models, stages, and affecting factors in the curriculum innovation process. Curriculum becomes very important in educational institutions because the curriculum is the "heart" of education. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with library research methods, using synthesis and content analysis. The results showed that the curriculum is a set of tools to achieve a goal, ranging from planning, and implementation to evaluation. Innovation or curriculum renewal needs to be done because education practitioners must adjust to the development of a society that is always changing and continues to grow. Innovations appear to answer critical issues in education. There are two models of innovation processes: the individual and the organizational models. Effecting factors in the curriculum innovation process are the vision-mission of education, population growth, the development of science-technology, and the relevant educational demands. Innovation must be the result of original and creative thinking. The application of innovation must be efficient, easy to use, and serves comfort for students, teachers, and practitioners of education.

The shortage of teachers, specifically agriculture teachers, has been established and literature shows us why some teachers choose to leave. The question remains, how can we provide induction programs to agriculture teachers that support their unique needs and ultimately retain beginning agriculture teachers in the profession long term? This longitudinal qualitative case study began with eight traditionally certified beginning agriculture teachers and concluded with six completing the three-year study. The collective case study gathered data from site visits, monthly interviews, and annual focus groups. Recommendations were made for components that should exist in an induction program for beginning agriculture teachers. The content beginning teachers may need, how to structure a program, and items mentors and facilitators need to be aware of when providing a comprehensive program are provided. Recommended components include developing a supportive community among the teachers, providing “as needed” resources, multiple mentors, feedback on teaching, and structured reflection.

This article undertook to describe philosophical, sociological and psychological frameworks functional in curriculum engineering of the educational system in society. It did a synthesis method to review untampered evolutions in the philosophical, sociological and psychological frameworks that for some time been warranting the re-engineering of the education curriculum relevant to its own society. The evolutions to re-design curriculum are part of motions in educational debates that desires to model its own ideologies. The much desired evolutions to re-design curriculum spurt from societal debates that censure adherence to imported curriculums that completely unmatch industrial relevance. Debates to re-engineer curriculums have stood a taste of time and leave much to be actualized for a relevant desired educational system that would be reflective to industry or trade.

The Junior Doctor Science School is a project developed by the Japan Science and Technology Agency. Tsuyama College was adopted in 2018 and is working on this project. The Junior Doctor Science School seeks out elementary and junior high school students with high motivation and outstanding abilities, and trains their abilities through learning in the fields of science and mathematics and information, with the aim of encouraging outstanding human resources who will lead future science and technology innovation. In this project, a student mentor system is established as an important element that constitutes the systematic training program of this project. Since we started our efforts in 2018, we have been improving the student mentor system. A good evaluation was also obtained in the mid-term evaluation by the Japan Science and Technology Agency in 2020.In this report, we describe the assessment of the growth of mentors as result of student mentor activities.

The world of education cannot be separated from the curriculum. The curriculum is one of the most important components of education. The curriculum can cover a broad scope and a narrow scope. The curriculum must be in accordance with the needs and demands that exist in society. The curriculum must also be able to adjust the components in it. In its implementation in an educational institution, the curriculum needs to be developed, in developing a curriculum it certainly cannot be done without references or guidelines. One of the curriculum developed must pay attention to curriculum organization. Organizing the curriculum is one aspect that needs to be considered so that curriculum development can meet all the needs and demands of students, educators, and also the community. This study uses the Library Research method by examining several data sources from books related to the organization and design of curriculum development. The conclusion of this study is that the organization acts as a method used to determine the selection and integration of various learning experiences organized by educational institutions in the curriculum development process. An organization is very necessary for the management process, namely the planning organization, the organization in the context of implementing the curriculum, and the organization in the context of curriculum evaluation.

Despite computer science (CS) students’ widespread participation in internships, few studies have examined how internship experiences impact career decision-making. Because women are severely underrepresented within CS, understanding how internship experiences impact career decision-making can provide critical insight into women’s career development processes and longevity in the field. Using the concept of career self-management within social cognitive career theory as a theoretical framework and standpoint feminism as a critical lens, we conducted interviews with 13 women CS majors to learn how internship experiences influenced their career decisions. Findings reveal three major career development process themes, including questioning technical competence, navigating gendered “microclimates,” and reflecting on careers in CS. While internships largely affirmed women’s career interests in CS, participants also navigated challenging gendered dynamics and often made career decisions directly influenced by these experiences. Findings inform how CS educators, career development practitioners, and employers may better develop inclusive internship cultures in computing.

With the continuous development of Internet technology and the deepening of application exploration, in the context of cloud computing, the improvement of the quality of college students’ innovation and entrepreneurship education based on big data analysis has also become the focus of universities, society, and the country. The core of the system is the discrete dynamic modeling technology of complex systems. This paper will discuss ways to improve the quality of college students’ innovation and entrepreneurship education based on big data under the background of cloud computing by introducing the development and principle of complex system discrete dynamic modeling technology and analyzing the deficiencies and problems of college students’ innovation and entrepreneurship quality in many aspects.

This project aimed to determine male nurses' perceptions of facilitators and barriers to the recruitment, retention, and job satisfaction of men in nursing. Sixteen male nurses from a single academic health science center participated in video interviews using open-ended questions. Interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed for themes. Six themes emerged, and based on the themes, recommendations for nurse leaders were delineated. Intentional and evidence-based recommendations must be implemented to improve male nurses' recruitment, retention, and job satisfaction, thus leading to a more gender-diverse workforce that improves the provider experience and contributes to quality care.

With the advent of the fourth industrial revolution, professional resource management in the engineering sector has been gaining importance. And countries around the world are paying special attention to realizing and using the potential of female engineering talent that has been on the rise. Nevertheless, there is still a leaky pipeline of female engineering talent. As such, this study aims to provide a new platform that incorporates the latest technologies to promote female engineering talent. First, it introduces the existing career management platforms developed for female engineering students, along with their limitations to become a lifelong career management platform. In addition, the study proposes a customized career management platform for female engineering talents in line with their life cycles, empowered by artificial intelligence, big data and blockchain technologies which are characteristic of the fourth industrial revolution. With the help of a career management platform reinforced by such latest technologies, career interruption and a loss of female engineering talent will be prevented, and through sustainable career management of talent, the overall national competitiveness will be enhanced.

Background Mentoring is recommended as an intervention to assist nurses in adjusting to the faculty role. While research on academic mentoring for nurse faculty is growing, the findings of this body of research have not been summarized to inform the development of mentoring programs. Purpose The purpose of this integrative review is to summarize and synthesize the research regarding mentoring relationships and mentoring programs in academia for nurse faculty. Method Whittemore and Knafl's (2005) methodology for integrative reviews guided this work. Electronic databases that were searched using the following terms: mentorship, mentors, mentor, nursing faculty, faculty, educational personnel, nurses, nursing, and nursing education. Primary research studies were included that examined mentoring relationships among nurse faculty, mentoring program components, and mentoring outcomes in academia. Results A total of 18 studies were included in the review. Five main topics were identified: (1) prevalence of mentoring programs and relationships, (2) priorities within mentoring programs and relationships, (3) perceived quality of mentoring programs and relationships, (4) outcomes of mentoring programs and relationships, and (5) challenges within mentoring relationships. Conclusion More research is needed to inform nurse faculty and leaders as they design effective mentoring programs and support the development of collaborative and enriching mentoring relationships.

Social media are becoming increasingly popular in a professional context and, if used appropriately, can be beneficial to postgraduate students. Little is known regarding the extent to which postgraduate students engage with social media for postgraduate purposes. The present study aimed to understand postgraduate students' general use of social media, as well as investigate social media use specifically for postgraduate (educational and/or scientific) purposes. A total of 231 postgraduate students from 45 countries completed a mixed-methods survey. Instagram was the most frequently used social media platform overall, with Twitter being the most commonly used for postgraduate purposes. Most students posted educational and/or scientific content on social media platforms, with approximately one-third having a social media account specific for postgraduate/scientific content. The most common reasons postgraduate students access social media for postgraduate-related purposes were personal connection with community, science communication, motivations and learning, and networking. The most common reasons for posting postgraduate content online were self-branding, accessing a broad audience, science communication, and building a postgraduate community. Overall, postgraduate students are commonly using social media for postgraduate purposes which presents opportunities to mitigate pitfalls of the student experience and promote positive mental health among this group. Education is the foundation of a country's progress. In this case, education has a very important role to improve the quality of human resources to support and meet personal needs or even the needs of a country. Education will run well and structured if there is a directed education system. One of them in the education system is the curriculum as an implementer and reference in the movement of education. Indonesia itself currently uses the 2013 curriculum as its educational curriculum. The 2013 curriculum replaces the old curriculum, namely KTSP (Education Unit Level Curriculum) or the 2006 curriculum. It is necessary to analyze the 2013 curriculum in order to find out the advantages and disadvantages of the 2013 curriculum. Because the curriculum will continue to evolve with the times. This 2013 curriculum analysis uses a qualitative approach research method with interview and observation instruments to convey experiences. The results of this study are expected to be used as study material for students, schools, and academics.

This article explains how the readiness and reliability of the Indonesian education curriculum in preparing students to be able to read various opportunities and be ready to face the challenges of the era of society 5.0. There is great hope that the substance of the curriculum owned by Indonesia can be relevant to the development of science, technology and social so that educational values ​​can be instilled in students in social life in society in the era of society 5.0 which is conditional on the concept of a human-centered and technology-based society.

Background: Mentoring is the relationship of a guide or a teacher with another person/student augmenting his/her carrier growth, knowledge, skills, and experiences implemented by caring, sharing and helping hands. The aim of this paper is to highlight the mentoring, type of mentoring, how important of matching and consideration of ethical issue in mentoring program. Not missing these significant points, mentoring program could be successful in universities including medical faculty. Methods: The SMART principles of specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound are essential to structure the matching between mentor and mentee. The rule of etiquette and ethical issues are crucial and beneficial for mentor mentee relationship. Clinical mentoring programs help to develop students’ clinical skills and can increase interest in under-subscribed specialties. Positive mentoring plays a part in reversing the decline of academic medicine, by sparking interest through early research experiences. Results: There is the short term goal which is to introduce an immediate support network for incoming students and the long term goal is to cultivate a mentoring culture to engage all strata of medical students and every faculty member. Medical students expressed that mentoring program is to provide counselling, develop professionalism, increase students' interest in research, and support them in their personal growth. Conclusion: The goal of mentorship is to provide additional support to student or mentee by steering of the academic needs or social prerequisites to accelerate the personal and professional development of mentee with advice, guide and feed backs from the mentor.

The aim of this literature review study was to examine the historical development of the concept of curriculum theory, its reflections on curriculum development studies, and teaching-learning processes and also to attract the attention of the researchers to the area of curriculum theory which was seen to be left aside for years. The research was designed by reviewing the literature, and different theoretical perspectives on curriculum development studies in the USA which historically dominated the field since the early 1900’s and Turkey were examined. In the first phase, the explanation of the concepts of curriculum, theory, curriculum theory, the chaotic structure, and discussions in the literature regarding the terminology of these concepts were given. It was concluded that in the literature the concept of curriculum theory has been used synonymously with the concepts of curriculum beliefs, educational value orientations, curriculum ideologies, and curriculum orientations. In addition, the classification of curriculum theories, curriculum development studies in which the reflections of curriculum theories could be seen, and the studies conducted in Turkey and abroad on this subject were included in the study. Taking the limited number of studies on curriculum theories and their lack of variety into account, future studies on curriculum theory are considered to feed the intellectual background of the field and attract the attention of the researches to theories of curriculum, which will fill the gap in the literature.

What kind of person is the root of education? What kind of person embodies the essence of education and the direction of education? The goal of education cannot be solved without specific courses and disciplines. This study is carried out to characterize the Chinese curriculum standards (syllabus), review the founding of New China over 70 years of primary school Chinese curriculum, and outline an education picture from the “curriculum” itself to “individual students,” from “single” to “compound,” and from “present” to “future.” It has been concluded that the pursuit of national characteristics, the exploration of a wholesome personality, and the prospect of new people of the times are the internal evolution logics of primary school Chinese education.

Sexism and racism in academia have contributed to women and people of color being underrepresented at increasing levels of the academic hierarchy. We investigated whether people with socially marginalized identities experience disparities regarding rates of publishing and inclusion in the scientific-review process. Using a sample of academics in psychology departments at research-focused universities in the United States (n = 885), we found gender disparities for PhD holders and racial/ethnic disparities for graduate students. Specifically, female PhD holders and graduate students of color reported fewer publications and were less likely to be included in the scientific-review process compared with male PhD holders and White graduate students, respectively. Differences in research activity by gender and race/ethnicity in a contemporary sample of psychologists reflected a 'leaky pipeline' that persists in psychology departments

The paper defines the role of Chinese culture in the process of teaching Russian as a foreign language on the example of Chinese universities. Textbooks on the course “Chinese Culture” are presented, as well as some authentic video materials about China. Step-by-step work with the plots of the television program “I want to know” (Channel One) is described. The conclusion is made about the possibility of using such videos as educational material in RFL classes. The obtained results showed that the Chinese cultural component should be taken into account when developing courses for Russian language faculties at Chinese universities.

The aim of this phenomenological qualitative study was to explore the opinions of the teachers on mentoring process and their experiences. To achieve this aim, the study sought information on mentoring essences, practices, roles, and training needs of mentor teachers. Experienced and beginning teachers were purposefully selected from eight English-medium secondary schools in South Africa. Data from the literature review, 16 group interviews and 24 open-ended questionnaires were triangulated and thematically analysed to gain a deeper understanding of the phenomenon. Forty-eight experienced teachers and 24 beginning teachers shared their life experiences, perspectives, and perceptions on the mentoring process. The study revealed that in South African schools, mentoring was patchy and unsystematic. Data collected revealed that a new working environment presented some social, personal, and professional challenges to beginning teachers. It was revealed that experienced teachers were willing to support their fellow beginning colleagues even though they were not trained in the mentoring process and did not receive the necessary support from the school management teams.

Throughout the development of labor education in the past 70 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, its development characteristics are different along with the varying stages of economic development. The development of labor education has an important relationship with the political system, economic policy, and cultural foundation. This article reviews the development process of labor education in the past 70 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, analyzes the characteristics of labor education in each period, and proposes suggestions to promote the development of labor education in China, whereby the development of labor education should follow the basic rules of education development, grasp the characteristics of the times of labor education, and build a new system of labor education; adhere to people-oriented education and establish proper educational orientation; innovate the labor education system and build a labor education model with Chinese characteristics; improve the support and guarantee system of labor education and earnestly promote the implementation of labor education; enhance the internationalization of labor education and the international competitiveness of labor education.

Innovative talent training mode is a key problem to be solved in the talent training of digital economy specialty in Colleges and universities. From the new teaching mode of "Internet plus curriculum thinking politics", the training mode of digital economy professionals needs to be improved. Therefore, based on the analysis of the role of "Internet plus curriculum thinking" in the training of digital economy professionals, this paper fully combines the problems and deficiencies of the current digital economy professional training, and proposes that from the top level design to the teaching staff, then to the improvement of the evaluation system and other measures to achieve the goal of cultivating comprehensive digital economy talents with both professional knowledge and ideological and moral quality.

The number of mentoring programs within the framework of schools is increasing both internationally and domestically (Raufelder & Ittel, 2012; Fejes et. al., 2009). Besides traditional mentoring, the role of peer mentoring (Miller, 2002) has also come to the fore in recent years. In our study, we focus on cross-age peer mentoring (Miller, 2002; Sipe, 2005), where older youth mentor younger youth. One example of this in Hungary is the Let's Teach for Hungary (LTHMP) mentoring program, where undergraduate students mentor primary school students. In our research, we studied mentors at the University of Debrecen who had completed at least two semester-long cycles in the program. We were curious about how the COVID-19 pandemic period affected mentoring, so we examined the transition of a mentoring program based on a personal meeting to online mentoring, and its pivotal points, advantages, and disadvantages. As a method, we used qualitative interview analysis, during which we worked with semi-structured interviews, recorded in the spring of 2020 and 2021 – during the global pandemic situation – with a total of 50 mentors. The content analysis of the interview texts was performed based on the codes formulated based on the theory, and the emic codes emerged in the interviews (Creswell, 2012). Our results show that mentors can be grouped into different types based on their attitudes towards online mentoring. Overall, the digital transition has been a big challenge. The biggest problem was the lack of equipment. The issue of age has been also an important factor in terms of the sense of digital comfort. We noticed the phenomenon of Big Brother Mentoring and the importance of chameleon mentors. Our research, which can fill a gap, highlights both the challenges and benefits of online mentoring. In addition, we can also contribute to the effective and successful operation of the Let's Teach for Hungary Mentoring Program.

Youth-initiated mentoring is an innovative youth care approach in which youth recruit supportive adults from their social networks as a mentor for youth and a partner for parents and professionals. This qualitative interview study documents what youth ( n = 15) and parents ( n = 13) from multi-problem families look for in a mentor, what mentors ( n = 8) believe they have to offer, and whether what mentors believe to offer matches youth’s and parents’ needs. Youth and parents indicated that a strong connection and trust were most important, or even prerequisites, as youth who were unable to find mentors did not have strong relationships of trust. Youth and parents also voiced preferences for an understanding, sensitive mentor who offered youth perspective by providing support and advice and (according to some) setting rules. What mentors believed to offer matched youth’s and parents’ needs, suggesting that most youth successfully recruited suitable mentors.

Mentoring involves a reciprocal relationship between a more experienced person (mentor) who offers guidance and counsel to a less experienced person (mentee). Reported benefits of mentoring among students of varying health professions include skill acquisition, understanding of the professional role, acclimation to the culture of the health profession, and personal and professional development. Globally, the midwifery profession has a long-standing history of mentoring students and new graduate midwives. However, only one study has described a formal mentoring program within the US midwifery profession. Therefore, to inform best practice for both formal and informal mentoring programs, current mentoring programs are summarized and a state of the science review on mentoring within midwifery in the United States and internationally was conducted. Three types of mentoring relationships are discussed: (1) student to student (peer), (2) midwife to student, and (3) midwife to new graduate midwife. Effective models and recommended approaches for the development and expansion of mentoring are discussed, to sustain, diversify, and scale up the midwifery workforce. Personal attributes and action steps of effective mentors and mentees are provided.

Despite increasing demands for skilled workers within the technological domain, there is still a deficit in the number of graduates in computing fields (computer science, information technology, and computer engineering). Understanding the factors that contribute to students’ motivation and persistence is critical to helping educators, administrators, and industry professionals better focus efforts to improve academic outcomes and job placement. This article examines how experiences contribute to a student’s computing identity, which we define by their interest, recognition, sense of belonging, and competence/performance beliefs. In particular, we consider groups underrepresented in these disciplines, women and minoritized racial/ethnic groups (Black/African American and Hispanic/Latinx). To delve into these relationships, a survey of more than 1,600 students in computing fields was conducted at three metropolitan public universities in Florida. Regression was used to elucidate which experiences predict computing identity and how social identification (i.e., as female, Black/African American, and/or Hispanic/Latinx) may interact with these experiences. Our results suggest that several types of experiences positively predict a student’s computing identity, such as mentoring others, having a job, or having friends in computing. Moreover, certain experiences have a different effect on computing identity for female and Hispanic/Latinx students. More specifically, receiving academic advice from teaching assistants was more positive for female students, receiving advice from industry professionals was more negative for Hispanic/Latinx students, and receiving help on classwork from students in their class was more positive for Hispanic/Latinx students. Other experiences, while having the same effect on computing identity across students, were experienced at significantly different rates by females, Black/African American students, and Hispanic/Latinx students. The findings highlight experiential ways in which computing programs can foster computing identity development, particularly for underrepresented and marginalized groups in computing.

Educative mentoring positions mentors and mentees as co-learners within a collaborative relationship, while emphasising reciprocal learning. However, research exploring educative mentoring is limited to teacher-mentors, restricting our understanding of the potential learning opportunities an educative stance provides mentors in other occupational fields. Consequently, the aim of this research was to explore the learning of sport coach mentors, with a specific focus on whether they were able to learn reciprocally from their mentees in a two-way process. As part of a wider project, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 sport coach mentors employed by a sport governing body, with interview transcripts subject to reflexive thematic analysis. Findings indicate that when an educative stance is adopted by a sport coach mentor, they are able to engage with collaborative learning opportunities with their mentees, which results in possibilities for growth and professional development. Practical implications for sport coach mentor training are discussed.

The purpose of this paper is to provide answers to the following research questions: Is effective mentoring a function of culture, learning or hereditary, birth/ nature? Or are people born with certain traits that make them more effective or better mentors than others or is it based on learning or socialization/ nurture?; Is cross gender or cross-racial more effective than mentoring based on demographic similarities characteristics? Are there some types or techniques or practices of mentoring that are more appropriate or more suitable to some demographic groups or populations – women, blacks and other racial minorities etc. than others? This paper defines mentoring, discusses competing schools/ theories of mentorship, as well as typologies of mentoring approaches. The paper concludes that multiple/ group mentoring approach is indicative of the new trend in the business; and that while each mentoring technique or model supplements or complements the other, multiple mentoring styles or systems tend to present the best possible path to achieving efficiency and effectiveness. Finally, it recommends appropriate mentoring strategies and techniques to improve mentoring that include programs that take into account demographic similarities between mentors and protégés, gender and race-based norms, stereotypes and discrimination, as well as cultural diversity.

Women scientists are strategically positioned to drive the current initiatives for achieving targeted sustainable development goals (SDGs). Many women are celebrated today, who have made significant contributions in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), despite hurdles they have been faced with in their science careers. Engaging in normal scientific collaborations was difficult for some of them and simply impossible for others. They were not encouraged by the predominantly male environments of university and business worlds, barred from the communities in which male scientists met and conversed, these women in science struggled against discrimination based on gender. While many of these women have been nearly lost to history in a changing world, some achieved such pinnacles as the Nobel Prize by surmounting these hurdles. This paper investigates factors that inhibit women in science. To this end, a survey design based on random sampling technique using a questionnaire instrument was designed, to retrieve information from individuals engaged in science careers. The study population involved one hundred and fourteen post-graduate science students of the University of Benin. Data was collected and analyzed using SPSS 20.0 for descriptive and inferential statistics. The result revealed that females view mentorship as a very important factor towards their career progression in STEM, but 29% lacked mentors. 73% of the women were not aware of women scientist forums with mentorship opportunities. They were faced with the barrier of funding, lack of mentors and personally encountered gender bias amongst other barriers. From our result, it is evident that the role of mentors to mentees and women scientist initiatives alongside forums with mentoring activities, cooperation, networking and collaborative groups is needed to increase the participation of women and girls in STEM. It is recommended that mentoring forums and strategies should be adopted in schools and organizations to encourage girls and women in science.

There have been ongoing efforts to increase the presence of underrepresented minorities in medicine (URMM), including faculty development initiatives, mentoring programs and outreach efforts. However, URMM faculty face unique challenges that are crucial for academic institutions and leaders to recognize in order to improve retention of this group and allow for meaningful advancement in the field. This paper introduces the concept of gate blocking, defined as what happens to minority faculty as a result of the consequences of the minority tax and systems designed to advantage some and disadvantage others. In addition to defining gate blocking, the authors make recommendations to address this concern in academic medicine and promote the advancement and retention of URMM faculty.

With the increasing demands of technology integration by the institutions, educators felt the need to develop themselves professionally. In this study, as a way of professional development, we focused on one-on-one technology mentoring for in-service teachers because the experiences of mentors would shed light on professional development programs in the context of both mentors’ progress and mentoring in-service teachers. Mentors for teachers were assigned to facilitate teachers’ ICT usage and ICT integration skills. The mentorship implementation lasted two semesters with 42 mentors’ participation. The determination of the content of the mentoring process was completely based on the needs and interests of the teachers. After the implementation, the perceptions and experiences of the mentors were asked and coded through content analysis. According to the analysis, the responses of the mentors were grouped into five main categories; (a) affordances of the technology mentoring process, (b) the contribution of the project to the teachers, (c) the contribution of the project to the mentors, (d) the challenges experienced by the mentors, and (e) the weaknesses of and the suggestions for the mentoring process. The findings of this study indicated that future ICT coordinators believed that one-on-one technology mentoring in real school settings is an effective way not only for training in-service teachers but also for creating awareness of being an ICT coordinator and developing ICT mentoring skills.

Teachers leaving the profession before age of retirement is an ongoing problem in schools worldwide. While fewer teachers enter the profession each year, the number of teachers leaving the profession has increased. Many teachers listed lack of job satisfaction as a reason for leaving the education profession, while citing the lack of mentoring as a main cause of job dissatisfaction. This study explores the impact of an effective mentoring program at primary schools in the province of Mpumalanga, South Africa to support and improve job satisfaction among beginner teachers entering the profession. This study follows a quantitative approach, consisting of a Likert-scale questionnaire. The sample of the study was a number of 550 teachers (principals, deputy principals, heads of department, teachers and student teachers) from different races and cultures from 50 randomly selected state and private primary schools in Mpumalanga. After comparing the literature with the respondents' data, the researchers found that the development and implementation of a mentoring program in the province of Mpumalanga would positively impacts beginner teachers' job satisfaction, thus indicating a definite need for such a mentoring program.

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the usual processes and support systems related to applying to medical school in the United States. The Texas-Wide Premedical Mentoring Program (TPMP) was established to pair medical student mentors in Texas with medical school applicants attending Texas colleges and universities. Our objective was to demonstrate the effect of the TPMP on application preparedness and self-reported mental health outcomes of program participants. A survey was developed to understand the program’s impact on both mentees and mentors. Participants were sent a survey link 3 months after the TPMP launch. In total, 313 participants, comprising 62% premedical student mentees and 38% medical student mentors, completed the survey. Mentees reported a significantly positive effect of the program on anxiety, uncertainty of acceptance, connection to medicine, and making the road to medical school seem less impossible. After participation, mentees felt less alone and reported a positive impact on their perception of the application process. The TPMP positively impacted the mental wellness of both mentees and mentors, and about 80% of mentors felt more fulfilled despite not participating in clinical duties in light of suspensions. In conclusion, program participation was associated with decreasing application knowledge gaps, easing anxiety, and providing alliance for mentees. The TPMP had a similarly positive influence on the mental wellness of mentees and mentors as well as contributed to medical student mentors’ sense of fulfillment.

A mentoring approach towards excellence is proposed in this paper. This approach should be followed to develop educational leaders and faculty members to prepare HEIs to build capacity and capability to implement the provisions of the national education policy (NEP) 2020. The approach includes designing the mentoring programme at the institute level, selection and orientation of mentors, selection and orientation of mentees, mentoring process, mentees and mentors’ outcomes, and ultimate outcomes of the mentoring programme-academic, research, and excellence. E-mentoring can be defined as an approach that is applied electronically or via the internet to provide personal, useful, specific, synchronized, holistic, accessible, and long-lasting mentoring support to establish a relationship between senior and less experienced individuals. Although studies on e-mentoring are relatively new and few, studies show that it is an effective method of mentorship. The aim of our study is to reveal the effect of this process on the choice of profession and the career development of university students who participate in e-mentoring programs. The research sample consists of young people (age ranges between 14-30) who receive support through an e-mentoring platform established by a nongovernmental organization. The findings show that e-mentoring supports the career development of young people who participate in this process. The mentors are effective in their role as “teachers” with close and sincere communication styles and experiences. The mentors show a guiding attitude to the participants in their career choices and help to eliminate uncertainty by trying to answer the questions in youth’s minds.

Taxes are a very important source of state revenue in supporting the country's development. State financing depends on tax revenue. Current tax revenue has not met the target, the sluggish Indonesian economy is the cause of not meeting the tax target. One of the efforts made by the government is to increase tax awareness where the Director General of Taxes implements one of the Tax Inclusion programs aimed at the younger generation, one of which is high school students. The given tax knowledge will encourage students to be positive and change the mindset of students so that they can produce positive tax behavior. This study uses two factors in measuring the tax awareness of high school students, namely tax literacy and social environment. The purpose of this study was to examine and analyze the effect of tax literacy and the social environment on tax awareness among high school students in Surabaya and Sidoarjo. The method used in sample selection is non-purposive sampling with a total sample of 398 respondents. The results of this study indicate that the tax literacy and social environment variables have an effect on tax awareness among high school students in Surabaya and Sidoarjo.

PURPOSE/OBJECTIVES Dental students face many challenges throughout their education. Peer mentoring programs can support students and help manage pressures associated with dental school, although few studies have researched student-led peer mentoring. The aim of this study was to explore the possibilities and limits of student-led, near-peer mentoring in a dental program. METHODS We conducted a qualitative study on the tooth bud program (TBP), a student-led, near-peer mentoring program at a research-intensive university. Eligible study participants were Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) students who participated in the TBP as a first-year mentee and/or second-year mentor between 2017 and 2020. Twenty-two participants and one program founder were interviewed about their experiences and involvement in peer mentoring. A thematic analysis was employed, and Brownlie and Anderson's sociology of kindness provided a theoretical analytical framework. RESULTS Three themes represented participant perspectives of the TBP: Firstly, students desired to build a community but had to manage inherent hierarchies. Secondly, participants appreciated that the TBP was a student-led initiative, but its unstructured and informal nature brought challenges. Thirdly, mentoring experiences and the ways mentors and mentees navigated their pairings were identified. CONCLUSIONS Mentoring was founded in the shared experience of studying dentistry and allowed mentor-mentee pairs to establish kinship and progress relationships. Kindness acts as an infrastructure to guide interactions; however, underdeveloped kinship may hinder mentoring. Thus, the peer mentoring program researched provides value to mentees and mentors and allows participants to benefit from becoming part of a student-led, professional community.

This article presents descriptions of mentoring from a philosophy of education and a humanbecoming mentoring model perspective. Descriptions of mentoring-protégé relationships experienced by the author are included using the humanbecoming paradigm as a guide in describing such experiences.

One of the most important actions in research and mentoring is to adjust expectations and provide emotional support when unexpected events occur. In this article, the authors investigate the impacts of COVID-19-based campus closures on undergraduate research and the student and faculty impressions of the adjustment. Through interviews with 28 students and 17 mentors from a campus-wide undergraduate research program, common themes in the responses to COVID-related impacts were found. Students had to adjust to the type or scope of their research obligations while handling academic responsibilities, and mentors explicitly considered students wellbeing above expectations related to research. Providing professional development to mentors that emphasizes flexibility and compassion in the mentor-student relationship is recommended.

For the past few decades mentoring has moved from being a buzzword in a few select programs into a major institutional goal. From large corporations to small universities, leaders recognize the importance of those with more experience guiding junior employees and students. Colleges and universities have taken the lead nationwide in mentoring efforts, with many having exemplary peer mentoring programs for undergraduates, and some institutions deploying mentoring to support faculty and students. The discipline of Communication has also begun to place more emphasis on mentoring. Yet, some populations, specifically women of color and other minoritized people, do not always have access to networks or programs and are left on their own to navigate institutions and processes. That few women of color faculty inhabit academic spaces in Communication departments, as in other departments across campuses, creates additional challenges for students and faculty, who often lack mentors and yet carry the additional burden of mentoring. This introduction to the special forum in CCC brings sets up the critical insights on mentoring our senior and emerging contributors offer.
