Observes the use of educational technology in four middle-school classes at the Ameritech Electronic University School Classroom located on the campus of Kent State University. Draws implications for the effective use of educational technology (both hardware and software) in the classroom. (PKP)

The article presents a study on the results of the transition competence battery (TCB) which examines the transition strengths of deaf and hard of hearing (DDH) students attending public schools in the U.S. The results indicate that the students had substantial transition competence deficits and that none reached the recommend competence levels on more than 4 to 6 subtests. The article highlights the importance of TCB in the transition of the DDH students because of the requirements it fulfill under the 2004 Individuals With Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) amendments to use age-appropriate and results-oriented transition assessments that document program and intervention outcomes.
