This paper describes the SK Telecom's mobile fronthaul deployment via CWDM networks with dual subchannel interface. It also describes requirements for the next generation optical fronthaul and backhaul CWDM network evolution to support next generation fixed, mobile, and converged network services.

This paper describes optical transceiver performance for CWDM network with multi sub-channel interface for optical mobile fronthaul applications with CPRI. It also describes standard optical link budget the said CWDM network with multi sub-channel interface.

Inter-channel crosstalk limit is studied for the WDM-PON application with large differential path loss. A method to overcome the limit is also proposed by controlling ONT transmit power based on received signal power.

Inter-channel crosstalk impairment of time and wavelength division multiplexing passive optical network is investigated. A method to overcome the crosstalk impairment by controlling ONU transmit signal power is also proposed.

The factors that influence the choice of suitable eye mask for a seeded DWDM link are presented. It is observed that two factors play a key role in determining the characteristics of the eye mask namely, bandwidth of the transmitter driver circuit and the transmitter RIN in conjunction with the input seed signal power. None of the well known eye masks fit well due to thicker ones level in a seeded DWDM system, so there is a need to define a new mask for this purpose. It is shown thorough measurement results that an eye mask derived from the NRZ 10G ratio small mask defined in ITU-t recommendation G.959.1 can serve the purpose.

We evaluate inter-channel crosstalk level and its power penalty for the wavelength division multiplexed passive optical network (WDM-PON) system employing injection seeding technology. We propose a new laser control algorithm for reducing received power variations at multi-path interface of the injection seeded WDM-PON. And we achieve an improvement of the inter-channel crosstalk level to reduce crosstalk penalty of the system.

This paper investigates the reflection phenomenon and its impact on the transmission of a seeded DWDM link. The factors that influence the choice of acceptable values of the optical return loss and maximum discrete reflectance are discussed and measured data is presented that provides insight into the penalty associated with the optical return loss. It is found that that the values used for optical return loss and maximum discrete reflectance in ITU-T Recommendation G.698.1 and G.959.1 based DWDM links cannot be used in seeded DWDM link specifications due to its bidirectional seeded architecture and the reflective nature of its colour adaptive transmitter at the terminal equipment.
