In the scientific domain, millions of research papers in many different languages are published throughout the globe every year. This causes not only information overload, but because of the language barrier, researchers might not understand or even find articles that could be relevant for their work. Therefore, in the field of psychology, the Leibniz Institute for Psychology Information (ZPID) and its partners have created PubPsych ( https://www.pubpsych.eu/ ), an open access vertical search engine for psychological literature, tests, treatment programs and research data (metadata, not the content itself). We discuss the motivation for creating the system, design decisions, connected problems and our solutions, especially concerning multilingual information.

This report documents the program and the outcomes of Dagstuhl Seminar 15302 "Perspectives Workshop: Digital Scholarship and Open Science in Psychology and the Behavioral Sciences". This workshop addressed the problem of facilitating the construction of an integrative digital scholarship and open science infrastructure in psychology and the behavioral sciences by utilizing the Web as an integrative platform for e-Science. A particular focus was on sharing research data and experiments to improve reproducibility. The participants presented first steps in this direction in their communities, and worked out an initial action plan for establishing digital scholarship and open science more broadly.

In this paper we present the Semantic Enhancement for the Open Journal Systems, SE4OJS, to generate semantically annotated documents. With this tool, we created a knowledgebase for psychology, KOBPSY. We have identified structural document elements such as authors, sections, and domain knowledge about diseases, population, treatments and more. Our corpus of documents comes from PsychOpen. The datasets we are building for each article include i) the RDF description of article metadata, e.g. information on title, keywords, authors and editors; ii) structural information such as sections, section types, paragraphs, in-text citations; and also, iii) RDF for content and annotations. We are structuring the annotations by using the Annotation Ontology. Our approach makes it possible to build concept-based queries; we are delivering a flexible, reusable and adaptable set of tools for metadata enrichment and semantic processing of scientific documents in psychology.

Data sharing has gained importance in scientific communities because scientific associations and funding organizations require long term preservation and dissemination of data. To support psychology researchers in data archiving and data sharing, the Leibniz Institute for Psychology Information developed an archiving facility for psychological research data in Germany: PsychData. In this paper we report different types of data requests that were sent to researchers with the aim of building up a sustainable data archive. Resulting response rates were rather low, however, comparable to those published by other authors. Possible reasons for the reluctance of researchers to submit data are discussed.

The time course of attention was experimentally observed using two kinds of stimuli: a cue to begin attending or to shift attention, and a stimulus to be attended. Precise measurements of the time course of attention show that it consists of two partially concurrent processes: a fast, effortless, automatic process that records the cue and its neighboring events; and a slower, effortful, controlled process that records the stimulus to be attended and its neighboring events.
