This paper presents a novel strategy realization of the three-level Space-Vector Pulse-Width Modulation (SVPWM): an implementation of simplified algorithm SVPWM for the three-Ievel inverter. Due to the geometrical symmetry of six sectors, there exists close relationships between on time calculations and on time arrangement for switches of the inverter. Therefore, this symmetry can be extended to the remaining sector based on single computation being done for the first sector only. Consequently, compared with the conventional algorithm, the proposed algorithm is more suitable for hardware implementation by greatly reducing computations. Similar configurations are mostly implemented using either DSP card or Dspace platform, which increase the cost of the system. This paper develops the above strategy of simplified SVPWM algorithm using Matlab/Simulink software investigating the use of a cost-effective card and the flexibility of STM32F 4 discovery board. The obtained results witness the ability of STM32F 4 in the control a T-type three-level inverter.
