Artificial intelligence (AI) reconfigures work and organization, while work and organization shape AI. In this special issue, we explore these mutual transformations and how they play out across industries and occupations. We argue that, to truly appreciate this transformative power, the use of AI should be understood in relation to key dimensions of the work context. In this editorial, we discuss the sociotechnical dynamics of AI implementation, the research landscape of AI in the context of work, and key contextual factors on the macro‐ and micro‐level that help understand the AI‐work nexus. Conversion disorder (also referred to as functional neurological disorder) represents one of the most functionally impairing and clinically challenging illnesses in all of pediatric mental health. While conversion disorder can present clinically in multiple ways, from nonepileptic seizures to psychogenic blindness to upper‐ and/or lower‐extremity weakness with or without significant gait disturbance, these clinical manifestations all share in common the presence of functionally impairing motor and/or sensory symptoms that exist in the absence of a specific identifiable structural cause, and are assessed to be either caused by or propagated by emotional (and therefore neurochemical) factors. Somatic symptom disorders represent perhaps the single most challenging illness group in the treatment of children and adolescents. These illnesses, which can include all organ systems from the central nervous system (nonepileptic seizures) to the gastrointestinal tract (functional abdominal pain), all share the presence of physical symptoms that are assessed to be emotionally based, or at minimum to be associated with significant emotional contributing factors. From the process of patients and families coming to terms with the nuanced message from providers that physical symptoms are both real and emotionally based to the multidisciplinary and highly collaborative treatment necessary to ensure that these patients make the physical and emotional progress necessary to 'get their lives back,' the treatment of children and adolescents with emotionally based physical symptoms is undoubtedly highly complex.
