The outbreak of misinformation and digital propaganda has added to the invasion of fake news, and the prominence of audiences on social networks becomes a hallmark of the political and media agenda. The publication of the sentence of the Supreme Court that sanctioned the rebellion of independent politicians during the Procés of Catalonia in 2019 provoked citizen mobilizations that occupied the front pages of the media. The general objective of this paper is to determine the number and theme of hoaxes spread about the riots on different digital platforms. We apply a content analysis methodology to a general sample (n1 = 4,500) of hoaxes reported by fact-checking agencies (Maldito Bulo, Newtral, Verificat) and news items (n2 = 190) published in the national and international press (El País/El Mundo, El Periódico/Ara, The Guardian/Le Monde). The results confirm that private users are the main authors of fake news and that journalists use verification codes to combat misinformation.

This is a reflection about the use of the Galician language as a language between the Portuguese and the Spanish. Based on several institutional actions, we propose a comparative study on the use of the Galician language in business abroad in countries of lusophony, taking as a reference different promotional campaigns of the government of the Xunta de Galicia. The research will work with the data of several interviews with embassy officials from five Portuguese-speaking countries and Galician businessmen who negotiate there. Planteamos una reflexión sobre el uso del idioma gallego como lengua vehicular entre el portugués y el español. A partir de varias acciones institucionales, proponemos un estudio comparativo sobre el uso de la lengua gallega en los negocios en el ámbito de la lusofonía, tomando como referencia varias campañas promocionales del gobierno de la Xunta de Galicia. La investigación recopila datos mediante entrevistas en profundidad a responsables de las embajadas de cinco países lusófonos y a empresarios gallegos que negocian en los mismos. La hipótesis manejada es que la utilización del gallego contribuye al entendimiento dentro del ámbito de la lusofonía, pero hace falta una mayor inmersión en el idioma a la hora de afrontar una negociación internacional; este proceso de inmersión lingüística también debe incluir conocimientos culturales como el uso del protocolo y el ceremonial, el valor de la gastronomía o el sentido del tiempo, entre otros.

This paper reflects on the role of Galician as a vehicular language between Portuguese and Spanish. Based on several institutional actions, a comparative study of the use of Galician language in business environments, in Portuguese speaking countries (Lusofonía, Lusophone countries), is presented, taking as reference different promotional campaigns initiated by the Xunta de Galicia (Galician Government). The research collects information from several in-depth interviews held with embassy officials from five Portuguese-speaking countries and Galician businesspersons who negotiate in those countries. The hypothesis for this paper suggests that Galician language contributes to a better understanding within Lusophone areas, but further language immersion is necessary to deal with international negotiations. This language immersion process shall also include cultural skills, such as protocol and ceremony, the value of gastronomy or the sense of time, among others. Linguistic styles of the 7 major candidates for election to the Parliamen of Galicia in 2012 were analyzed using the Spanish version of the Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC) program. We analyzed the speeches of the opening and closing sessions of the campaign and the tweets posted during the 15-day official campaign period by the candidates. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used to determine differences in the percentage of use of categories of words in the texts of the seven candidates, resulting significant (p≤0.01) in 16 of the categories analyzed. Possible interpretations of these results are discussed, highlighting the usefulness of LIWC as a complementary strategy for the analysis of political texts., Se analizaron los mítines de las jornadas de apertura y cierre de las elecciones así como los tweets publicados, durante los 15 días de duración oficial de la campaña, por los candidatos. Se aplicó la prueba Kruskal-Wallis para la determinación de diferencias en el porcentaje de uso de categorías de palabras entre los textos de los siete candidatos, resultando significativas (p≤0,01) en 16 de las categorías analizadas.Se discuten las posibles interpretaciones de estos resultados, resaltando la utilidad del programa LIWC como estrategia complementaria para el análisis de textos en política.
