HISTORY of medicine , *COLORS , *DISEASES , *HEALTH , *EMOTIONS - Abstract
In the vast panorama of literature on dreams and their interpretation, this work aims to open a small but signijicant glimpse into the presence of the dream in some medical and non-medical works produced in the Arabic language, particularly between the 9th and 15th centuries. In the Islamic· medicine of the Middle Ages (' scientijic ', prophetic and spiritual), as ~ve//as in ancient medicine. researching in a book the relationship between medicine and colour means investigating the chapters in which the signs ('a\amat, dala'i\) of health and illness are mentioned. Aniong these signs, a role of not negligible importance is played by those concerning the relationship between the physical body and the 'soul': 'from the body to the soul' (the colours of dreams), and 'from the soul to the body' (the colours appearing on the body caused by vices, and passions, and emotions). This work is devoted to these themes.and is based primarily on the study of texts: passages taken from different authors, which, translated and commented, are the clearest explanation of a not easy subject. The analysis is focused on the role of colours in Aristotle's physiology as a real indicatorofdistinctionsanddifferences on which general classifications can be obtained. His enquiry extends from both external and internal parts up to those parts - namely blood and semen - on which vital processes of animals' life depend stick as growing, nutrition and reproduction. SENSES ,ANCIENT philosophers ,VISION ,COLORS ,COLOR - Abstract
In paragraphs 5 and 86 of the De sensibus Theophrastus gives a brief report of Plato's views on the sense of vision and its object, i. e. colour, based on the Timaeus. Interestingly enough, he presents the Platonic doctrine as a third alternative to the extramission and intromission theories put forward by other ancient philosophers. In this article I examine whether or not Theophrastus' account is impartial. I argue that at least some of his distortive departures from the Platonic dialogue are due to his Aristotelian inheritance, even though they do not always represent Aristotle's expressed views. The difficulty of translating colour terms is noted. This article explores two common and peculiarly difficult to translate terms. Both are characterized by floating nuances of meanings; in both cases, our analysis demonstrates that the observation and description of colours testifies the high level of attention given by Hippocratic authors to the accuracy of clinical observation. - Abstract
Each language has the capacity to organise a certain conceptualisation of the lexical field dealing with colours according to the geographical, historical and cultural circumstances of its corresponding linguistic community. Thus, the aim of this paper is to identify the distinctive features that Catalan and Spanish use to connote colours symbolically in their respective folk traditions. To this end, this study has carried out a contrastive analysis of set phrases and idioms has been carried out based on an epistemological perspective often used in cognitive linguistics and ethnopoetics.

There is different types of therapies that work with light, like luminotherapy and chromotherapy, they help improving well-being of people through the direction, color and intensity of the light. From the point of view of an ASD person is an interesting option due to their sensibility and it could get better live quality The main objective of this project is to design a light that adds a crank mechanism with different textures, which allows modifying the colour of the light depending on the rotation given. By changing the colours combination of RGB, getting a variety of colours and intensities through the interaction with the object. It is primarily thought for children between 5 to 15 year old with Autism Spectrum Disorder. It tries to reduce the stress level that suffers the children with this disorder, searching to generate a safe and comfortable environment. It may be able to distract them, due to the small and simple game that brings by means of improving their communication skills. Research work has been done in the Disorder domain and the consequences that are involved in the children’s lives, as well as a study to know their needs and opinions. Afterwards, a few submissions have been done, of which the final model has been chosen, with the support of survey’s data. The 3D modelling of the light will be done with the program SolidWorks 2020 SP0. The material used for its manufacturing is PLA.

COLORS , *CULTURE , *MEMES , *NEUROLOGY , *CYBORGS , *COLOR vision - Abstract
Culture in-colour is a concept that recognizes that culture is always imbricated in relations of colour as form, structure, or system and in relations of colours. These two regimes – colour and colours – fold back onto and interpenetrate one another to constitute culture in complex, multiple, contradictory, constitutive relations that are potentially open to change. Theorizing culture in-colour draws on and beyond the image of the cyborg to insist on in-colour as neither a thing, a property of an object, nor a neurological process, but an active verb, a lived event: of interminglings and articulations, of repetitions, struggles, rearticulations, and becomings. The Dress, a 2015 controversy over the colour of a dress in an image circulated over the Internet, reveals how colour is typically thought of – as surface, artifice, and ornament; as a scientific fact; and as a neurological phenomenon – and how it is lived affectively. The anxieties produced by The Dress suggest a tension between the typical explanations of how colour matters and the less-accessible, but far more consequential, ways that both colour and colours matter. Colour and colours are often used to designate community belonging, but a closer look at the perceived threat in seeing colour differently reveals an underlying trust both in what colour is and in the reliability of colour to negotiate/constitute community in relations of inclusion, exclusion, and hierarchy. Neuroscientific and technological explanations affectively discipline colour by asserting thingness and sameness, and by erasing the traces of the powerful articulatory work of colour. Yet it is the system of colour itself that makes the dismissal of the significance of colour possible. Acknowledging that we live in-colour demands recognition that not only do we live deeply in-colour, but that different cultures in-colour are possible, that different forms or systems of colour are lived affectively, and that the disciplining of colour can be resisted with effects more open to indeterminateness. 10. Why Colour Primitivism?

PRIMITIVISM ,DISPOSITION (Philosophy) ,COLORS ,OBJECTIVITY ,FALLIBILITY ,PHENOMENALISM - Abstract
Primitivism is the view that colors are sui generis properties of physical objects. The basic insight underlying primitivism is that colours are as we see them, i.e. they are categorical properties of physical objects—simple, monadic, constant, etc.—just like shapes. As such, they determine the content of colour experience. Accepting the premise that colours are sui generis properties of physical objects, this paper seeks to show that ascribing primitive properties to objects is, ipso facto, ascribing to objects irreducible dispositions to look coloured, and that anything that primitive redness can do, the non-reductive disposition to look red can do just as well. What makes primitivism suspect is not the commitment to sui generis properties, but instead the claim that colours are more than dispositions. Since, as I show, whatever primitivism appeals to for the purpose of arguing that colours are more than dispositions—objectivity, explanation, causation, phenomenology, constancy, etc.—can also be invoked by non-reductive dispositionalism, the feature that purportedly renders colours more than dispositions remains mysterious. This study examines the drawings that elementary grade school children make on the subject of plant life. More specifically, the pictorial elements drawn by children are analysed together with their colour choices and the size of coloured surfaces. Furthermore, the results are put into perspective with the age of the children in the sample. The results indicate that there are significant differences in terms of both the content of the drawings and how colours are used. These findings are linked to the process of the comprehension of the plant world that, according to several studies, initially begins in elementary education. The conclusions highlight the convenience of considering the study of young children’s drawings and colour choices in order to achieve a clearer picture regarding the initial steps of the process of the understanding of biological phenomena in early childhood. Maps which are created on demand by combining geospatial data from different Web Map Services integrate conflicting portrayals and do not satisfy the requirements of effective cartographic communication. A significant improvement is achieved by selecting clearly distinguishable colours which are determined by solving an optimisation problem. Cartographic guidelines and user characteristics (e.g. colour vision impairment) can be incorporated into the optimisation model as constraints which guide the selection of colours. Evliyâ Çelebi is one of the greatest travellers of all time. He travelled throughout the Ottoman State during the XVIIth century. While he had been visiting different parts of the Ottoman State, he kept a journal to record what had been happening of the time. His travels took fifty years of his life, but they paved a way to his famous travelogue. In his work, Evliyâ focused on the social and cultural aspects rather than political events of his time. He kept track of the subjects of the Ottoman State who came from different strata. He exerted the differences and similarities between different nations, communities, climates and structures. Colours have multi-layered meanings. In addition to that, the reference area of colours can extend beyond their regular use. This expansion is determined by how people deal with the specific colour in the course of time. Most of the time, humans use colour words to describe what they see. But they also use colour words to express what they feel and how they live. The use of colours in a text has the potential to enrich the narration, surprise the readers, and to modify the conclusion of a story. In this thesis, it is found out that colour words are used to signify affirmation or negation, depending on where they are placed. They are also indicators of emotions, social strata, aggression and many formal and informal situations. 135

In this article, the authors analyse an aspect of the names of colours that is relatively unstudied: their role in the shifting of meaning of a language's new lexical units. This linguistic study is based on fundamental linguistic anthropology concepts and also on the theoretical assumptions of Cognitive Semantics. After establishing fundamental notions, the study analyses a corpus of lexicographical polylexical neologisms containing a colour word. It focuses on the analysis of those units that include the word «green».
