Authors of the paper focus on research of written expressions of youngest language graphic system users; it means children aged 7 - 9. Conception of the research survey and its theoretical base is built on the present unsatisfactory state of the written expression of young generation that often misses thought and communicational coherence and thus whole meaningfulness. Our objective is to describe basic coherence means of text elements of pupils at elementary school who do not know all the syntactic rules and work with the coherence on the intuitive basis. We also focus on classification of the most common phenomena that interrupt the text coherence. For realization of the research probe we chose quantitative method of text content analysis. Research file is formed by the written communiques of the pupils created within the school environment through application of free writing method. Segmentation of the research file, it means creation of analytical units, took place during the first phase of the research. The date material was coded consequently. Collection of texts marked with the codes and categorization system of coherence means and problematic phenomena forms the output of the procedure. The texts are supplemented with the data and its analysis. It was found out that written communiques of pupils show certain coherence features (e.g. usage of personal pronouns, identical words), however the text coherence is at the same time often interrupted (repetition of the same words, linkage of sentences without content relation, concord interruption etc.). Research survey helped to clarify the coherence character of the written communiques of the language users who only have been acquainting themselves with its regularities and they have been learning how to work with the language and its graphic system as a mean for record of the train of thought.
