Abstract

We present relativistic magnetohydrodynamic modelling of jets running into hydrostatic, spherically symmetric cluster atmospheres. For the first time in a numerical simulation, we present model cluster atmospheres based upon the universal pressure profile (UPP), incorporating a temperature profile for a 'typical' self-similar atmosphere described by only one parameter – M 500. We explore a comprehensive range of realistic atmospheres and jet powers and derive dynamic, energetic, and polarimetric data which provide insight into what we should expect of future high-resolution studies of AGN outflows. From the simulated synchrotron emission maps which include Doppler beaming we find sidedness distributions that agree well with observations. We replicated a number of findings from our previous work, such as higher power jets inflating larger aspect-ratio lobes, and the cluster environment impacting the distribution of energy between the lobe and shocked regions. Comparing UPP and β-profiles we find that the cluster model chosen results in a different morphology for the resultant lobes with the UPP more able to clear lobe material from the core; and that these different atmospheres influence the ratio between the various forms of energy in the fully developed lobes. This work also highlights the key role played by Kelvin–Helmholtz instabilities in the formation of realistic lobe aspect ratios. Our simulations point to the need for additional lobe-widening mechanisms at high jet powers, for example jet precession. Given that the UPP is our most representative general cluster atmosphere, these numerical simulations represent the most realistic models yet for spherically symmetric atmospheres. Abstract

Forest based power plants are alternatives in the diversification of domestic energy supply in Brazil, given the growing demand for electricity in recent decades. Evidences of space-time clusters contribute to the understanding of regional development associated with correlated activity. Therefore, this paper analyzed the space-time conglomerates for Brazilian forest-based power plants, from 2000 to 2019. The data used were from the Generation Information System of the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL)-SIGA. It detected the existence of clusters by means of scan statistics via space-time permutation, considering the high level of conglomeration. The results show the Center-South region of Brazil with the highest concentration of conglomerates, with black liquor and forest residues being the most used energy resources. The clusters with the highest installed power were in the early 2010s, with the black liquor plants. The regions with the formation of fast-growing forest plantations promoted the existence of conglomerates associated with the pulp and paper and steel industry complexes. It is concluded that there was a conglomeration of forest power plants in the central-south region of Brazil, in which they help in decision-making and guidance of public policies for forestry projects for energy. Abstract

Presence of abundant pores and highly entangled nanotubes make bucky paper (BP) a natural candidate for filtration related applications. Both single- and multiwall carbon nanotube (SWNT and MWNT) BPs were fabricated via self-assembly. Average diameter of the pores on the surface of MWNT BP appeared to be 33 +/- 15 nm. However, due to the high tortuousity of BP, the cutoff size, estimated by filtration of colloidal dispersions of Au and CdS nanoparticles of different diameters, turned out to be 4-5 nm. The particle sizes were verified using microscopic and spectroscopic methods. The flux of Au nanoparticle solutions through BP was about 1000 L h(-1) m(-2) bar(-1). Highly flexible and robust SWNT BPs were prepared very easily, even without proper dispersion. It was found that the crystallinity and purity of the SWNTs had a bigger role than the quality of dispersion in determining the final mechanical strength of BP. The density of SWNT BP was estimated to be 1.3 +/- 0.3 g/cm(3) after correcting for the weights of the impurities. This is among the highest ever reported. The average wall to wall separation of adjacent tubes was estimated to be 0.35 +/- 0.2 nm, which is very close to the ideal value. The SWNT BP was also found to be impervious to liquids such as water, n-hexane, acetone, and isopropyl alcohol, indirectly verifying its close knit structure and small pore size. This is indicative of its possible use as a molecular sieve membrane.

Abstract

The paper demonstrates the possibilities of a scientometric approach using CiteSpace II software analysis of the field of railway dynamics with detection of research front, main clusters of cross-cited papers, their evolution and pivotal points (see terms in Sections 2.1 and 2.2). The initial database contained 5126 Web Of Science records published between 1975 and 2019 (45 years). The linguistic analysis determined the evolution of burst terms and grouped the papers in 14 clusters that corresponded with the view of the specialists in the field. 'Railway vehicle', 'Curved track' (hunting stability and derailment risk), 'Unconventional railway truck', 'Railway turnout (crossing)' and 'Polygonal wear' clusters were analysed in more detail with a determination of top-cited papers in each cluster and papers that determined connections between clusters (pivotal papers). Abstract

The paper discusses the phenomena of clusters and networks in wood processing, furniture manufacture and paper production and processing companies and highlights the competitive abilities derived from such associations. These organisational forms and the related business methods are analysed in the context of increasing international integration of goods, services, capital and labour markets. The diverse prospects of cluster development are a reflection of issues contained in this type of business, as well as its possible limitations. The paper offers basic guidelines for the functioning of the minimum of joint integrated chain management. Our approach is radically opposed to the fragmentariness of interest and businesses currently existing in this sector's trading and manufacturing companies. An idea concerning a joint cooperative cluster model is put forward. Some possible methods of selecting development concepts in the wood industry, furniture manufacture and paper production and processing are discussed.
