Cloud computing is an interdisciplinary field which has witnessed exponential growth in recent years and there is a need to consolidate the research efforts. This study used citation analysis method to identify most cited papers which have achieved the status of citation classics. It is the first study using Dimensions.ai database to identify classics in cloud computing literature. Using a search strategy data was extracted from Dimensions database from 2010 and 2020. Finally 96 papers were identified as citation classics which were cited with at least 400 citations. Data was finally analyzed through Biblioshiny package of R Studio. It was found that Future Generation Computer Systems, IEEE Communication Survey and Tutorials, IEEE Transaction on Parallel and Distributed Systems, Computer and IEEE Access are the key journals contributing to classics. Most papers were contributed from China and USA. R. Buyya is the prolific author who has contributed nine citation classics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of the paper is to examine scholarly literature in cloud computing published before January 2014 as viewed through Scopus database. Utilizing the Scopus database, 4,108 scholarly communications on cloud computing research was used for the study. The SCImago Journal and Country Rank (SJR) and Source Normalized Impact per Paper (SNIP) values of the journals were identified to determine the impact of journals in the field. Transformative Activity Index (TAI) is used to identify relative research efforts among leading countries. RCI (Relative Citation Impact) and CPP (Citations Per Publication) have been used to calculate the quality and impact of research output. The study revealed that 4108 papers were published on cloud computing until December 31, 2013. 95 countries contributed to CC literature. Top fifteen countries jointly produced 4005 (97.5%) papers. China with 1208 papers (29.4%) is ranked first in publishing papers on cloud computing while papers published from the United States have received highest citations 12019 (31.3%). The majority of papers have been published in English 3598 (87.6%) and Chinese 416 (10.1%) language. The literature on the subject was published in 157 journals, and 160 institutes around the world contributed to cloud computing literature. The present study is an attempt towards identification, systematization and critical examination of the research literature on the concepts of cloud computing prevalent among the Library and Information professionals. The study is based on an exhaustive review of the published literature in the field of cloud computing and library and information science. For the review, a conceptual framework was developed in order to demarcate the flow of available information. Available strategies, models, frameworks and existing practises of adoption of cloud computing in library practises have been exclusively dealt. Based on the review the study proposes several gaps in the existing literature which needs to be worked out in the future researches. Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explore the perceptions of librarians engaged in Indian academic libraries towards cloud computing. Design/methodology/approach – A structured questionnaire was used to collect responses from the library professionals engaged in Indian academic libraries. Overall, 339 respondents participated in the survey. Descriptive survey method was used in the study. Findings – The findings of the study reveal that library professionals are using cloud-computing tools in their daily works. They want to adopt cloud computing in the libraries to improve library services and avoid redundancy of works. Ubiquitous availability, economy and the various service layers are the core drivers of its adoption in the libraries. The respondents showed their concern over security and data privacy in cloud. Practical implications – The study establishes the fact that the benefits of cloud computing are inadequate to convince the libraries to migrate from the traditional computing paradigm to the cloud. Technological advancement may not transform the cloud into a mainstream technology. To motivate the expansion of cloud computing adoption, emphasis has to be laid upon collaboration between the cloud service providers supplemented by solid cloud legislations which need to be worked out. Purpose – The paper aims to examine the characteristic elements of various organizational factors to identify whether a favourable climate for implementing and sustaining cloud computing in Banaras Hindu University library system (BHULS) existed. Design/methodology/approach – After reviewing relevant literature on the topic, a list of 20 factors that affected an organization’s adoption to innovation was prepared. A questionnaire was personally administered to the library professionals engaged in BHULS. Respondents were asked to nominate the level of importance of each factor for validation of cloud computing adoption. Findings – Findings of the paper validate the fact that opportune time for the implementation of cloud computing existed in BHULS. Library staff showed high willingness toward the adoption of the cloud computing and were well prepared to grasp the challenges. Practical implications – The paper establishes the fact that the benefits of cloud computing are inadequate to convince organizations to migrate from the traditional computing paradigm to the cloud. Technological advancement may not transform the cloud into a mainstream technology. In the past few years, cloud computing has evolved to be a major trend for all levels of computer users and organizations. This article compares the suitability of cloud computing software for a library setting among some available cloud service providers. The paper first introduces cloud computing with respect to its definition, types, and services. The focus is then shifted to what cloud computing might mean to libraries. The paper also explores the potential cloud based operating system providers, productivity suite providers, mailing service providers, and storage, cataloging, and calendar service providers. Recent years have witnessed huge popularisation in the cloud computing applications. The present study is targeted towards the implication of the Theory of Planned Behaviour and the construct affect to more desirably apprehend the acceptance level of Google Apps, a form of cloud computing applications commonly used among librarians. Till date no known study has yet examined the factors that influences the librarian's decision to use the cloud computing applications. The research study demonstrated that the intentions of the librarians to use Google Apps are positively correlated with all the constructs of Theory of Planned Behaviour (Attitude, Subjective Norms, Perceived behavioural control) as well as Affect. The main purpose of this paper is to explore how librarians in Indian Central Universities are using Cloud Computing tools into their daily library services and works. A structured questionnaire was designed & personally distributed as well as mailed to 407 respondents.
