Objective: During the COVID-19 pandemic some mental disorders have been especially increased. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between individuals' coronavirus anxiety, cyberchondria, and online shopping addiction during the pandemic, we are in, and try to explain the factors associated with these features. Method: The data consists of 407 people between the ages of 18-65 who answered a sufficient number of questions on the scales with the help of the online environment by google questionnaire method between January 18 th, 2021, and February 18th, 2021. Participants were asked to fill in the socio-demographic form, cyberchondria severity scale (CSS), compulsive purchasing scale (BSAS), and coronavirus anxiety (CAS) scales. Results: In this study, 79.6% of the participants stated that their anxiety increased, 63.4% stated that the frequency of shopping online increased, and 39.8% stated that the number of disease searches on the internet increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. Regarding the correlations of the CAS, CSS, BSAS scales with each other, a statistically significant positive moderate correlation was found between CAS and CSS (r: 0.495, p, Amaç: Covid-19 pandemisi döneminde bu yeni hastalıkla ilgili birçok belirsizliğin olması, sosyal izolasyon uygulanması, pandeminin yol açtığı bir takım ekonomik zorluklar ile beraber özelikle bazı ruhsal bozukluklarda belirgin artış görülmüştür. Katılımcılara sosyo-demografik form, siberkondria şiddeti ölçeği (CSS), kompulsif satın alma ölçeği (BSAS) ve koronavirüs anksiyete (CAS) ölçekleri uygulandı. Ölçeklerde yeterli sayıda soruyu yanıtlayan 18-65 yaş aralığındaki 407 kişi ile çalışma tamamlandı.Bulgular: Çalışma sonucunda Covid-19 pandemisi döneminde katılımcıların % 79.6’sı kaygılarının arttığını, %63.4’ü internet üzerinden alışveriş yapma sıklıklarının arttığını, %39.8’ü ise internet üzerinden hastalık arama davranışlarının arttığını belirtmişlerdir. WOS: 000465161900005 The purpose of this study was to investigate the psychometric characteristics of the Math Anxiety Scale (MANX; Erol 1989, Unpublished master thesis, Bogazici University) with data collected from 952 middle school students in Turkey. The Rasch Rating Scale model was used to examine the MANX at the item level. The results revealed that although the MANX was sensitive to detect students with moderate levels of math anxiety and it was not targeted to identify those with very high and low math anxiety levels, it had high reliability and validity. Moreover, the majority of the MANX items were of good quality. The results of this study provide strong evidence for the validation of the MANX despite the need for deletion of eight misfit items and three items with the same item difficulties. Future research should consider possible revision or development of new items to capture gradations of challenges at the very high and low ends of the continuum.

WOS: 000449654800003 Background: The relationship between impulsivity and nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) has been revealed in several mental disorders other than phobias. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among impulsivity, anxiety sensitivity, and NSSI characteristics in patients with phobias, and to compare these relationships with healthy controls. Methods: The sample of this study consisted of outpatients (n = 109) who had been diagnosed with social phobia, agoraphobia or simple phobia in addition to healthy individuals (n = 51) serving as the control group. Data collection tools were the socio-demographic form, the Barratt Impulsivity Scale (BIS-11), the Inventory of Statements About Self-Injury (ISAS), and the Anxiety Sensitivity Index (ASI-3). Results: Mean BIS-11 and ASI-3 scores in the social phobia and agoraphobia groups were found to be significantly higher than those in the control group. In addition, a positive correlation was found between ISAS and cognitive anxiety sensitivity scores in the agoraphobia and simple phobia groups. Discussion: The study revealed a positive correlation between cognitive anxiety sensitivity and NSSI in both the agoraphobia and simple phobia groups. The results of this study indicate that anxiety sensitivity may play a regulatory role between impulsivity and NSSI in some sub-groups of phobia.

IntroductionIt is widely known that childhood traumatic life situations are associated with most of the adult life psychiatric disorders such as disassociative disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders and so on.Objectives and aimsThe purpose of this study to examine the relationship between childhood traumatic experiences and panic disorder development.MethodsThe sample of this study consists of 59 outpatients who applied to the department of psychiatry in addition to 61 healthy individuals serving as the control group. These 59 individuals, located within the range of 18 to 65 years, were selected from outpatients who had been diagnosed with panic disorder based on DSM-V diagnosis criteria who did not have any other mental disorder. The 61 healthy individuals in the control group were selected from hospital attendants who had not received any psychiatric diagnosis. The participants were administered the childhood trauma questionnaire (CTQ) and a socio-demographic form.ResultsThe participants in the panic disorder group were found to have significantly high scores in comparison to the control group with respect to CTQ subscales (i.e., the emotional neglect and the emotional abuse subscale) and the total CTQ score. Hence, there exists a strong relationship between childhood traumatic experiences and panic disorder development.ConclusionThe results revealed that childhood traumatic experiences play an active role in the development of panic disorder. Moreover, it was found that the type and quality of trauma experienced during the childhood period is one of the predictors for the psychiatric disease that can occur in the future years.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.
