The article focuses on the philosophical underpinnings and development of the Alternative Radio program in Australia. It has been contended that the prevailing corporate radio become an inherent system and due to its production values. The Alternative Radio is considered to be possible when broadcastings nature is lessened to system imperatives opposed to people's lifeworld experience. It can be found to present programming that recognizes its potential audience as active agents in creating public sphere. It also demonstrated that some within the audience are prepared in accepting counter arguments and engage with them in public sphere reconstruction.
