Bu çalışma kapsamında taşıma gücü, oturma, sıvılaşma, geçirimlilik, stabilite, kabarma ve çökme sorunları olan zeminlerle karşılaşılmasından, zemin iyileştirme yönteminin seçimine kadar geçen sürece değinilmiş ve zemin iyileştirme yöntemleri incelenmiştir. Tüm iyileştirme yöntemleri derin ve yüzeysel olarak iki ana başlık altında toplanmış ve sıkça tercih edilen jet grouting, enjeksiyon ve taş kolon yöntemleri detaylı olarak incelenmiştir.Sık kullanılan jet grouting, enjeksiyon ve taş kolon zemin iyileştirme yöntemlerinin zeminler üzerinde etkileri araştırılmış ve bu yöntemlerin zeminin mühendislik özellikleri üzerindeki etkileri incelenmiştir. Jet grouting, enjeksiyon ve taş kolon zemin iyileştirme yöntemleri fore kazık - derin temel uygulanmış bir sahada modellenmiştir. Mevcut sahada, inşaa edilecek yapı yükleri için taşıma gücü ve oturma sorunu olabilecek zemin profilleri zemin etüt raporu incelenerek belirlenmiştir. Belirlenen taşıma gücü ve oturma sorunu olabilecek profiller için jet grouting, enjeksiyon ve taş kolon malzemeleri literatürdeki çalışmalardan faydalanılarak tasarlanmıştır. Bu tasarımların doğruluğu mevcut saha ve tasarımda kullanılan tahmin yöntemlerinin doğruluğu ile sınırlıdır. Tasarım parametreleri saha deneyleri ile kontrol edilmelidir. Tasarlanan jet grouting, enjeksiyon ve taş kolon malzemeleri ampirik analizlerde ve Plaxis analizlerinde kullanılmıştır. Ampirik analizler ve sonlu elemanlar yöntemi kullanan Plaxis programı ile taşıma gücü ve toplam oturma analizleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Sonuçlar çizelge ve grafikler halinde sunulmuş, jet grouting, enjeksiyon ve taş kolon yöntemleri taşıma gücü ve oturma davranışları açısından kıyaslanmıştır. Burada ampirik olarak hesaplanan taşıma gücü değerlerinin diğer çözümlemelere göre daha fazla sonuçlar verdiği görülmektedir. Ayrıca taşıma gücü hesaplarında kompozit zemin teorisine göre yapılan taşıma gücü çözümlerinin kolon çözümleri ile bulunan taşıma gücü değerlerınden daha fazla sonuçlar verdiği görülmüştür. Oturma hesaplarında ampirik yöntem ile bulunan değerlerin Plaxis ile bulunanlardan daha az olduğu görülmüştür. İyileştirme yöntemlerinin kendi içlerinde taşıma gücü ve oturmalara genel olarak katkıları değerlendirildiğinde sırası ile jet grouting, taş kolon ve enjeksiyon yöntemleri söylenebilir. Ayrıca yapılan fore kazık uygulamasının taşıma gücü ve oturmalar açısından bahsedilen iyilştirme yöntemlerine göre mevcut projede daha uygun olduğu görülmektedir. Projede uygulanan ve çalışma kapsamı dışında da incelenen fore kazık yöntemi yüksek üst yapı yükleri altında zemin iyileştirme yöntemlerine alternatif olarak kullanılabilir. Zemin iyileştirme daha düşük yükler altında olan zeminler için tercih edilebilir. In the scope of this study, selection process of ground improvement methods for soils, which has bearing capacity, settlement, liquefaction, permeability, stability, swelling or subsidence problems, are investigated. Soil improvement methods are investigated in detail. All improvement methods can be classified as surface and deep according to depth, mechanical, hydraulical, physical, chemical, biotechnical and reinforcement according to the method of application, for clayey soils, for sandy soils and for all soils according to the soil types, and reinforcement, improvement and treatment according to application for tunnels, underwater constructions, historical buildings, and other superstructure and infrastructure projects. In this study, soil improvement methods are classified according to depth and the soil improvement methods are explained under two main headings as surface and deep soil improvement methods that improve bearing capacity, settlement, liquefaction, permeability, stability, swelling and subsidence problems. Under surface ground improvement and deep ground improvement methods, improvement by reinforcement, improvements with admixtures, surface drainage, surface compaction methods are mentioned as surface improvement methods and biotechnical, deep dynamic compaction, deep drainage, deep mixing, deep dynamic modification, electrical signal compaction, grouting, hydro-blasting compaction, thermal treatment, improvement piles, jet grouting, sand compaciton pile (SCP), microbic methods, blasting, stone column were mentoined as deep improvement methods. Moreover, most used methods, which are jet grouting, cement grouting and stone column, were examined in detail.Commonly used ground improvement methods jet grouting, cement grouting and stone column applications' effects on soil behaviour were investigated. Improvement effects of these three methods on same soils were estimated. Jet grouting, cement grouting and stone column methods were modelled for a site where bored piles were applied. On this site, soil profiles which have bearing capacity and potential settlement problems were determined according to the available soil investigation report. Jet grouting, cement grouting and stone column materials were designed for these profiles. All these design parameters should be checked on site. Design parameters of jet grouting, cement grouting and stone column materials were used in empirical and Plaxis software analysis which use finite element methods. All the analysis were done on Profile 1, Profile 2 and Profile 3 which are determined as having porential bearing capacity and settlement. Profile 1 includes low plasticity clay and clayey gravel, Profile 2 includes high plasticity clay, low plasticity silt and clayey sand, and Profile 3 includes silty and clayey sand. First, lengths of columns and piles were optimized for these three soil profiles. Jet grouting, cement grouting and stone column applications were investigated in 3.4 m and 13 m excavation depths, different column lenghts, and 3 D (%8.7), 2 D (%19,6) and 1,5 D (%34,9) column spacings (improvement rates) whereby empirical and numerical analysis using Plaxis program column and composite soil, Terzaghi and Meyerhof bearing capacity theories and Bowles settlement theory. According to this, each soil improvement methods has an effective column length that change with soil samples and lengths. Even though, almost all the improvement methods' bearing capacity and settlements were affected positively with increase of improvement ratio, however, there were also rare negative effects like settlement increase of stone column in sandy soil.In terms of bearing capacity, stone column method gave better results than jet grouting and cement grouting applications. Although, in the application of stone column, in sand, bearing capacity has increased, increase of bearing capacity for jet grouting application gave far better results. Cement grouting, which is applicable only to sand on Profile 3, increased bearing capacity significantly. However, the effect of cement grouting on the bearing capacity was less than stone column and jet grouting applications.Furthermore, jet grouting application affect settlements far possitively for clayey, silty and even sandy soils than the other methods, moreover, the settlement problem beneficially. Stone column method, which is applied through substitution is not rigid, and cause less settlements for clayey and silty soils, but settlements were increased in sandy soils. This situation could be better when alternative compacted stone column methods are applied. Moreover, cement grouting affected settlements well, but it could not be as much as jet grouting effects.On the other hand, there were distinct results according to analysis types. It was observed that calculated empirical bearing capacity values were higher than the one's found the other methods. Moreover, bearing capacity that calculated according to composite soil theory is higher than calculated value by Plaxis program. Also, empirical calculation of settlements is lower than calculated value by Plaxis program. Bearing capacity of stone columns calculated by using the composite soil theory gave high bearing capacity values on the internal friction angle is high. Bowles settlement theory results gave less settlement values than the one calculated by Plaxis program. Plaxis column calculations can be considered better due to the reason that column can be evaluated separate or group.In addition, the stone column usage in the clay and silt soils gave better results than sand. As long as cement injection can be applied, it has been observed that it contributes to the bearing capacity of loose sands and improved to settlement behaviour. Also, jet grouting method contributed significantly to settlements including clayey, silty and sandy soils, however, it did not demonstrate a good performance in bearing capacity. Jet grouting method has been shown to contribute positively to the bearing capacity on clayey and silty soils, but it has not been able to make much contributions to settlement. As a result, jet grouting method can be effective in all soil types, and it can make significant contributions to settlements in all types of soil and has a positive effect on all soil types. Stone column method has positive effects on settlements on clayey and silty soils and contributes significantly to bearing capacity in all types of soils. Although, cement grouting method has narrow application area, it contributes to the bearing capacity and settlement of loose sand.Finally, only jet grouting application has provided sufficient bearing capacity and limit settlement values in profile 3. While the jet grouting improvement was insufficient in profile 1 and profile 2, and stone column and cement grouting were not sufficient in all profiles. The bored pile method applied can be used as an alternative to soil improvement methods under high superstructure loads. Soil improvement can be preferred for soils that are under low loads. 161

The use of technology “soil jet grouting” for the device of vertical geotechnical barriers is now widespread. The arrangement of jet elements in the plan may be single - or multi-row, contiguous or split. The choice of the solution depends on specific geological conditions of the site. The design of the geotechnical barrier, made of jet elements, is reduced to the calculation of strength and reliability assessment of the structure. Principles of the purpose structural design are based on the theory of reinforced concrete and experimental data on testing of samples of materials. The purpose of this paper is the acquisition and analysis of the empirical data during the stabilization of foundation soil by applying the “jet grouting” method.

Properly executed renovation and adaptation of a grade listed property not only ensures its constructional safety, but may also highlight the object’s historical value. Taking into consideration various factors, such as divergence of interests, or technical and legal determinants, it is safe to say that the renovation and adaptation of grade listed properties for new purposes is a complex process. The authors of the paper wish to discuss the problem of renovation based on selected properties, with special regard to constructional solutions for foundations. The presented examples will illustrate the issue of foundation enhancements resulting from the adaptation of buildings for new purposes. Through individual constructional solutions, such as jet grouting, it was possible to ensure the stability of degraded properties and safe transfer of increased values of usage load.

Derin temeller, olumsuz zemin şartlarında üst yapıdan gelen yüklerin zemine güvenli bir şekilde aktarılmasını sağlayan yapı elemanlarıdır. Günümüzde ayrıca kötü zemin koşullarında zemin iyileştirme yöntemleri kullanılarak, iyileştirilmiş zemin üzerine temel tasarımı yapılmaktadır. Bu tez çalışmasında; yapı yükü, temel boyutları ve zemin özellikleri belli olan yapı için farklı yapı yükleri altında kazıklı temel tasarımları yapılmıştır. Tasarımı yapılan bu kazıkların oturma hesapları hem ampirik hem de sayısal analiz yöntemleriyle bulunmuş olup, bu değerlerin karşılaştırılması yapılmıştır. Aynı yapı ve zemin koşulları için, ikinci bir alternatif olarak zemin iyileştirme yöntemlerinden biri olan jet grout için tasarım hesapları da gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda; temel tasarımı yapılırken mutlaka kazık temel ile birlikte, zemin iyileştirme yöntemlerinden biri olan jet grout ile de tasarım yapılması ve ekonomik olan yöntemin tercih edilmesi gerektiği ortaya konulmuştur.Anahtar kelimeler: Kazıklı Temeller, Plaxis Programı, Kazıklı Temel Dizaynı, Jet grout, İyileştirme. Deep foundations are the structural elements that ensure the safe transfer of the loads from the superstructure to the ground in adverse soil conditions. Nowadays, ground improvement methods are used in poor soil conditions and basic design is made on the improved floor. In this thesis; the basic design of the building was carried out under different building loads. The seating calculations of these piles were determined by both empirical and numerical analysis methods and these values were compared. Design calculations for jet grout, which is one of the soil improvement methods as a second alternative for the same structure and ground conditions, were also performed. Zemin iyileştirme yöntemlerinde temel amaç, mekanik araçlarla zeminin boşluk oranının azaltılması veya zemin boşluklarının çeşitli bileşimdeki karışımlarla doldurulması işlemidir. Zemin iyileştirme yöntemleri sayesinde zayıf zeminin taşıma kapasitesini artırılır, toplam oturmalar azaltılıp konsolidasyon hızlandırılır, dolgu ve şevlerin stabilitesi artırılır ve zeminin potansiyel sıvılaşma riskini azaltılır. Bu çalışmada Bursa ili Kestel ilçesinde yer alan 154 Kv Turanköy Trafo Merkezindeki trafolar ve clad binasında meydana gelen zemin oturmaları araştırılmıştır. Sondaj ve saha etütleri ile çeşitli bulgulara ulaşılmıştır. Bulgulara göre enjeksiyon ve jet grout iyileştirmeleri birlikte kullanılmasının en uygun çözüm olduğu belirlenmiştir. Uygulamaların ardından basınçlı su testleri yapılmıştır. Basınçlı su testlerinin sonuçları değerlendirildiğinde, geçirimli-çok geçirimli olan zemin grubunun geçirimsiz-az geçirimli hale geldiği görülmüştür. Jet grout uygulamasının clad binasında ve trafo sahasında zemin dayanımını artırdığı görülmüştür. The main purpose of soil improvement methods, to reduce the rate of ground clearance by mechanical means or to fill the ground clearances with various mixture blends. The soil improvement methods increase the carrying capacity of the weak ground, decrease the total seats and accelerate the consolidation, increase the stability of the fillings and slopes and decrease the potential liquefaction risk of the ground. In this study, 154 Kv Turanköy Transformer Center located in the Kestel district of Bursa province of transformers and clad building soil collapse was searched. Drilling and field surveys and various findings were reached. According to findings, it is determined that the best solution is to use injection and jet grouting together. After the tests, pressurized water tests were carried out. When the results of the pressurized water tests are evaluated, it has been seen that the permeable- too permeable floor group becomes impermeable-less permeable. It has been observed that the jet grout application increases the ground strength of the clad building and transformer area. 156

This paper presents a brief overview of artificial intelligence applications in transportation geotechnics, highlighting new approaches and current research directions, including issues related to data mining interpretability and prediction capacities. Several practical applications to earthworks, including the compaction management and quality control aspects of embankments, as well as pavement evaluation, design and management, and the mechanical behaviour of jet grouting material, are presented to illustrate the advantages of using data mining, including artificial neural networks, support vector machines, and evolutionary computation techniques in this domain. This study also propose a novel simplified compaction table for reusing geomaterials and compaction management in embankments and applied one- and two-dimensional advanced sensitivity analyses to better interpret the proposed data-driven models for the prediction of the deformability modulus of jet grouting field samples. Bu çalışmada, depreme maruz kalmış ya da kalmamış taşıma kapasitesi olması gerekenden daha az olan, üstüne herhangi bir yapı inşaası amaçlanan hemen her tür zemin için iyileştirme yöntemi tanıtılmış ve jet grouting yöntemi üzerinde durulmuştur.Zemin için sıvılaşma riski oluşturacak birçok faktör ele alınmış, detaylı olarak spt deneyi verileriyle özel bir yöntemle sıvılaşma analizi hesap yöntemleri açıklanmıştır. Ayrıca sıvılaşma riskine karşı yapılabilecek zemin iyileştirme yöntemlerine açıklık getirilmiş ve sıvılaşma riskinin önlenmesi için yapılacak jet grouting zemin iyileştirme metodu üzerinde durulmuştur.Uygulamalara ve gözlemlere örnek teşkil edecek şekilde güncel bir jet grouting yöntemi ile iyileştirme araştırılmış, proje ve zemin etüdü incelenmiş, yapım aşamaları detaylı bir şekilde incelenmiş, iyileştirme sonrası yapılan imalatın proje verilerine uygun bir şekilde imal edilip edilmediği özel yöntemlerle test edilmiş, iyileştirmenin amacına yönelik, zeminin sıvılaşma riski değerlendirilmiş ve iyileştirmeden sonraki zeminin son durumu değerlendirilmiştir. In this study, it has been or has not been exposed to an earthquake, carrying capacity less then they should be, intented of construction of any building , any type of soil improvement techniques has been introduced and focused on jet grouting method.Most of the factors has been considered which a risk for the liquefaction of the ground, the liquefaction risk has been analyzed with spt datas by a special method and has been described in detail. In addition, methods of soil improvement can be done against the risk of liquefaction has been clarified and focused on jet grouting ground improvement method which can prevent the risk of liquefaction.To be sample for applications and observations, a recent jet grouting application study has been investigated, examined the project and ground survey, production steps were examined in detail, post-improvement tested by special methods whether manufactured production is properly according to project-data, for the purpose of improving, evaluated the status of soil whether it had liquefaction risk or not, before and after improvement. 179

This paper presents a brief overview of Data Mining applications in transporta- tion geotechnics, highlighting the current research directions and the discussion of some issues that need further attention in the future, mainly related with pre- diction capacities. Bu çalışma; kohezyonsuz birimlerde oluşturulan jet grout kolonlarındaki düşey yüklerin etkisi altında jet grout kolonunun performansı ve kolon bünyesinde oluşan gerilme dağılışının incelenmesi için hazırlanmıştır. Bu araştırma ile; sonlu elemanlar yöntemiyle tasarımı yapılacak jet grout kolonlarının gerçek hayatta yükler altındaki davranışına yakın modelin nasıl kurulabileceği ve benzer çalışmalara kaynak oluşturabilmesi hedeflenmiştir.İlk bölümle birlikte jet grout uygulamasının çıkışı, gelişim süreci anlatılmıştır. Uygulama için gerekli ekipmanlar ve farklı uygulama teknikleri ile kullanım alanları hakkında bilgiler verilmiştir. Daha sonraki bölümlerde jet grout kolonunun taşıma kapasitesi hesabı anlatılmıştır. Uygulaması gerçekleştirilen jet grout kolonları kalite kontrol deneyi süreçlerinden bahsedilmiştir. Bu süreçte yapılan yükleme deneyi yöntemleri, süreklilik deneyi, karot numune alınması ve serbest basınç deneyleri hakkında bilgiler verilmiştir. Düşey yükler altındaki jet grout kolonu tasarımının imalatından sonraki performansı yükleme deneyleri ile incelenmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra kolon kesiti boyunca yerleştirilen birim deformasyon ölçerler ile kolon bünyesinde oluşan gerilme dağılışları tespit edilmiştir. Yapılan yükleme deney düzeneğinin kurulum safhaları, kolon bünyesine yerleştirilen birim deformasyon ölçerlerin nasıl hazırlandıkları ve kolonlara yerleştirildikleri detayları ile izah edilmiştir. Sonlu elemanlar programı ile farklı hesap modelleri kullanılarak yükleme deneyi modellenmiştir. Çıkan sonuçlar irdelenerek sonlu elemanlar yöntemiyle yapılacak jet grout tasarımlarında yol gösterici olması amaçlanmıştır. This study is done to understand the performance and stress distribution of jet grout columns under the influence of vertical loads installed in non-cohesive soils. By this research, it is aimed to simulate the behavior of a jet grout column under vertical loads by using finite element analysis program and to be a resource for similar studies in future.In the first chapter, the origin and development process of jet grout application is explained. Application equipments, different techniques and usage areas are mentioned. Quality control processes of jet grout columns are denoted. Detailed information is given about the process of jet grout column loading test, pile integrity test, core sampling and unconfined compression strength test. Designing capacity of jet grouting column is examined by loading tests. Besides that; stress distribution is determined by installing strain gauges inside the column body. Installation phases of load testing apparatus, preparation and installation process of strain gauges placed in column body are explained in details. Loading test is modeled with different calculation models with a finite element analysis program. Results of finite element analysis are used as a guide for the design of a jet grout column. 113

In recent years, improving soils using jet grouting method has become common in geotechnical engineering. In this study, jet grouting method was reviewed in detail. Initially, areas where jet grouting is used, necessary equipment, reasons and ways these equipment are used, post-application controls, calculation methods for jet grout columns bearing capacities and the necessary parameters were studied. Generally, jet grout columns are analyesed through conventional load bearing formulations. Such calculations are done for a single column and the soilstructure behavior cannot be studied in detail. Consecutively, factor of safety is high and thus, the solutions are not economically feasible. In this study, columns are analyzed -considering different applications- using finite element method, in particular. In the first two samples, analysis for using jet grout columns in load bearing walls was done. In the latter samples, use of jet grout columns underground was reviewed by using unit cell and homogenization method. Son yıllarda geoteknik mühendisliğinde jet grouting yöntemi ile zeminlerin iyileştirilmesi oldukça yaygınlaşmıştır. Bu tez çalışmasında jet grouting yöntemi detaylı olarak incelenmiştir. Yöntemin kullanıldığı yerler, yapım aşamasında kullanılan ekipmanlar, bu ekipmanların kullanım amaçları ve şekilleri, uygulamadan sonraki gerekli kontroller, jet grout kolonlarının taşıma gücü hesap yöntemleri ve gerekli parametreler incelenmiştir. Jetgrout yöntemi çok yönlü bir zemin iyileştirme yöntemidir. Hemen hemen tüm zemin çeşitlerinde uygulanabilir. Jetgrout tekniği ile ilgili ilk çalışmalar 1960'lı yıllarda yapılmıştır ve günümüze kadar zamanla geliştirilmiştir. Jetgrout uygulamasının tasarım aşamasında taşıma kapasitesinin belirlenmesi için yaygın olarak kullanılan bir metot bulunmamaktadır. Günümüzde gelişen teknoloji ile birlikte inşaat mühendisliği problemlerinin çözümünde sayısal yöntemlerden faydalanmak yaygınlaşmıştır. Bu tezin kapsamında da jetgrout kolonunun taşıma kapasitesinin hesaplanması için sayısal yöntemlere başvurulmuştur. Zemin mekaniği problemlerinin çözümü için yaygın olarak kullanılan sayısal çözümleme programlarından bir tanesi de Plaxis yazılımıdır. Bu çalışmada jetgrout kolonunun taşıma kapasitesinin tahmini için Plaxis yazılımı kullanılmıştır. Jetgrout kolonun taşıma kapasitesi hesabı için daha önce yapılmış çalışmalar ve Plaxis geoteknik çözümleme yazılımından faydalanılmıştır ve elde edilen sonuçlar arazideki yükleme deneyleri ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Plaxis yazılımı kullanılarak hesaplanan jetgrout kolonlarının taşıma kapasitesi ile yükleme testi sonuçları arasında büyük bir fark olmadığı görülmüştür. Bununla birlikte daha önce yapılmış deneysel çalışmalara dayalı ampirik hesap yöntemleri ile hesaplanan jetgrout kolonlarının taşıma kapasitesi ve yükleme testi sonuçları birbirlerini doğrular niteliktedir. Jetgrout is a very versatile ground improvement technique. It can be applied almost every soil type. The studies about jetgrout are started at 1960?s and have been developed since then. There is no common calculation method for jetgrout bearing capacity for designing stage. Using numerical analysis method for engineering problems is becoming common nowadays. Within the context of this thesis numerical analysis methods are used for calculation of the bearing capacity of jetgrout columns. One of the most pronounced numerical analysis software for geotechnical applications is Plaxis. The Plaxis software is used for calculation of the bearing capacity of jetgrout columns within this thesis. The previous studies of jetgrout bearing capacity calculations and the Plaxis software results are compared with the in-situ jetgrout column load tests. The Plaxis software jetgrout column design bearing capacity calculation results and the in-situ jetgrout column load tests results do not differ from each other significantly. Furthermore the empirical calculations based on previous studies confirm the in-situ jetgrout column load tests. 93

Underpinning methods are applied to protect the constructions which effected from conditions such as deep excavations in the neighborhood of the building, change of ground water level or applied to extent life period of historical buildings, to solve the damages caused by mistaken observation and evaluation on design. In order to choose the method, detailed soil investigation, collect information about the static system of the existing building, collecting information about the buildings in the affected area furthermore determination of compensation and occasion costs should be done. Design should be developed based on these information but mostly it is difficult to reach them at the beginning of design period. Following and measurement system should be set up to observe the application continues according to foresights after design step. Every underpinning application is different from the other because it is related to local soil conditions, existing building structure conditions and surrounding building conditions of every construction. Zeminde oturma, sıvılasma, zemin büyütmesi ve tasıma gücü problemlerini stabilizasyon çalısmaları ile gidermek mümkündür. Ancak geoteknik mühendisleri, zemin iyilestirme çalısmalarının sonuçlarını degerlendirmenin zorluklarının da farkındadır. Bu tez çalısması kapsamında sismik kırılma, sismik yüzey dalgası, elektrik özdirenç yöntemleri gibi jeofizik yöntemler kullanılarak, bunların güçlendirilmis zayıf zeminlerin mekanik özelliklerinin ölçümünde kullanılma olasılıklarını degerlendirmeye yönelik bir çalısma yapılmıstır. kisi jet enjeksiyon kolonları, biri de kazıklarla iyilestirilmis olmak üzere stanbul'daki üç çalısma alanında, sismik yansıma, sismik yüzey dalgası, elektrik özdirenci yöntemleri ile yapılan ölçüm sonuçlarına göre, sismik kırılmada ölçülen kayma dalgası hızı ve bundan türetilen kayma modülünün iyilestirmenin derecesini belirlemede kullanılacak etkin bir yöntem olabilecegi görülmüstür. It is possible to remedy problems of settlement, liquefaction, amplification and bearing capacity of foundation by stabilization works. Geotechnical engineers are however aware that it is diffucult to assess the results of soil improvement activities. A study of the possibilities of measuring the mechanical properties of inferior soils by the use of geophysical methods such as seismic refraction, seismic surface wave and electrical resistivity has been made for this thesis. The results from three sites in stanbul are presented. Two of the sites were treated by jet grouting and one was improved by bored piles. It was found that the use of seismic refraction, seismic surface wave and electrical resistivity methods can be feasible in assessing the degree of improvement. The improvements imparted to the soil is best reflected in the shear wave velocity measurements converted to shear modulus during seismic refraction. The data has shown that the soil properties are further improved by the period of curing of concrete in the ground. Removal of contaminated soil underneath existing structures causes settlement. There is a need for a remediation technology that eliminates this problem. The jet grouting by the triple rod system can be combined with an on site remediation technology (e.g., soil washing). Jet grouting was developed primarily for underpinning and/or excavation support. The benefits of this technology lie in the future reduction of structural settlement, and site access flexibility.

ÖZET SIVILAŞMAYA KARŞI ZEMİN GÜÇLENDİRİLMESİNİN MOBELLENMESİ Bu etraflı çalışma, zemin sıvılaşması ve zemin İslah ve güçlendirilmesi konularına deyinmektedir. Bu çalışma kapsamında ilk olarak SPT ve CPT ve bu testlerin kullanımı anlatılmaktadır. Bundan sonra sıvılaşma, sıvılaşma potemiydinin tayini ve zemin İslah ve güçlendirme metottermın tanımları tartışılmaktadır. Bu konulan aydınlatmak için izmit Carrefoursa sahası örnek olarak çalışılmıştır. Zemin koşullarının anlaşılması ve iki farklı grid aralıkları halinde uygulanmış jet grout yöntemi ile zemin güçlendirmesinin ardından kalite kontrolü için yaklaşık toplam 90 adet CPT ve 17 adet SPT yapılmıştır. Bu testler sayesinde zemin profili ve parametreleri belirlenmiştir. Bu tezdeki çalışma iki yaklaşımdan ibarettir. Birinci yaklaşım CPT yoluyla sıvılaşma probleminin tayinidir. Güçlendirmeden önceki ve sonraki CPT sonuçlarının değerlendirilmesi ile jet grout yönteminin verimliliği değerlendirilmiştir. ikinci yaklaşım ise FLAG (Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua) kullanarak sahanın modellenmesidir. Sahanın mevcut hali ve güçlendirilmiş hali ayrı ayrı modellenmiş, programın sonuçlan karşılaştırılmıştır. Son olarakta, her iki yaklaşımdan elde edilen sonuçlar değerlendirilmiş ve karşılaştırılmıştır. Tüm çalışmalar neticesinde, jet grout yönteminin İzmit CarrefourSa Sahası için sıvılaşmaya karşı uygun bir çözüm olduğu ve sismik yüklemeye karşı etkin bir yol olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. iv ABSTRACT MODELLING OF SOIL IMPROVEMENT AND REINFORCEMENT AGAINST LIQUEFACTION This comprehensive study is focused on soil liquefaction and soil improvement and reinforcement subjects. Within the scope of the study, first CPT and SPT and their uses are briefly explained. Then the definitions of liquefaction, liquefaction potential assessments and soil improvement and reinforcement methods are discussed. In order to implement these concepts, a case study on Izmit Carrefoursa site is performed. In the subject site about 90 CPT and 17 SPT were done totally to identify the preliminary soil conditions and quality assurance of soil reinforcement consisting of jet grout columns in two grid patterns. By these tests soil profile and parameters are detected. The study in this thesis involves two approaches. The first approach is identifying the liquefaction problem using integrated CPT method for the site. CPT results pre and post reinforcement is appraised to assure the effectiveness of jet grout column application. The second approach is modelling the site using FLAG (Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua). The original site and the reinforced site are both modelled and their outputs are compared. Finally, the results of both approaches are appraised and compared. These studies concluded that for the Izmit CarrefourSA Site, application of jet grouting system to mitigate liquefaction hazard was a beneficial solution and an effective way to increase the resistance against seismic loading. 160

V ÖZET SIVILAŞMANÎN ZEMİN ISLAH METODLARI İLE AZALTILMASI Suya doygun gevşek kumlu zeminlerin deprem durumunda geçici mukavemet kaybı olarak tanımlanabilecek olan sıvılaşma, Alaska (1964), Niigata (1964) ve Kobe (1995) gibi geçmiş depremlerde birçok önemli hasarlara sebeb olmuştur. En yakın sıvılaşma örnekleri, Kocaeli (1999) depremi esnasında temel oturmaları, zemine gömülü yapılarında hasar ve şev göçmeleri şeklinde gözlemlenmiştir. Sıvılaşma etkilerinin azaltılması için dünya çapında birçok teknik geliştirilmiştir. Bu tez çalışmasında, mevcut teknikler özetlenerek avantajları ve dezavantajları ile tartışılmıştır. İlave olarak sıvılaşma riskinin araştırılması ve yüksek kayma modüllü zemin - çimento karışımı kolonlar (örneğin Jet Çimento Enjeksiyonu `Jet Grouting` ve Derin Karıştırma `Deep Mixing`) ile sıvılaşma etkilerinin azaltılması için yeni bir tasarım metodu ve hesap adımlan önerilmiştir. IV ABSTRACT THE MITIGATION OF LIQUEFACTION BY MEANS OF SOIL IMPROVEMENT TECHNIQUES The liquefaction, which can be defined as the temporary loss of strength of saturated loose sandy soils, has caused many catastrophic failures in earthquakes during many past earthquakes such as Alaska (1964), Niigata (1964) and Kobe (1995). The most recent liquefaction examples were observed in the forms of foundation settlements, flotation of the buried structures and slope failures after the Kocaeli (1999) earthquake. Many soil improvement techniques are available to mitigate liquefaction effects throughout the world. In this thesis, these techniques have been summarized and discussed with advantages and disadvantages. Additionally, a new design technique and algorithm have been proposed to investigate liquefaction susceptibility and to mitigate liquefaction effects by means of high modulus soilcrete columns such as jet grouting and deep mixing. The proposed technique assumes that earthquake-induced shear stresses shall mainly concentrate on high modulus soilcrete columns since they are stiffer than surrounding ground. The efficiency of the proposed technique has been shown on three case studies and the results have been discussed. It is believed that the proposed techniques can be utilized for the investigation of the liquefaction susceptibility of soil layers and for the mitigation of liquefaction by means of high modulus soilcrete columns. VI ÖZET JET GROUTING ENJEKSİYON TEKNİĞİ VE JET GROUT KOLONLARIN DAYANIM ÖZELLİKLERİ Son yıllarda gelişme gösteren ve genellikle zemin ıslahı amacıyla uygulanan jet grouting yöntemi pek çok geoteknik probleme etkin çözümler sağlamaktadır. Bu yöntem çok yüksek basınç altında çimento/su karışımının zemine enjeksiyonuyla zeminin sıkıştırılması olarak tanımlanabilir. Jet grouting yöntemini diğer enjeksiyon yöntemlerinden ayıran en önemli özelliği çok farklı zeminlerde başarıyla uygulanabilmesidir. Bu nedenle bu yöntemin kullanıldığı alanlar hızla artmaktadır. Tez, jet grouting tekniğinin tarihsel, teorik ve pratik geçmişini ele almaktadır. Yöntemin tanımı, gelişimi, uygulama sistemleri ve geometrisi, uygulama parametreleri, tasarım yaklaşımları ve uygulama alanları ele alınmıştır. Esas ağırlık verilen konu ise jet grout kolonların dayanım özellikleridir. Jet grout kolonların dayanım özellikleri beş saha çalışmasından yola çıkılarak değerlendirilmiştir. ABSTRACT JET GROUTING TECHNIQUE AND STRENGTH PROPERTIES OF JET GROUT COLUMNS Jet grouting, a relatively recent development which is applied for mainly ground improvement, provides effective solutions to many geotechnical and geoenvironmental problems. The technique can be described as the process of soil consolidation by ultra-high pressure injection of cement/water mixes. Jet grouting technique differs substantially from the other grouting techniques in that this technique can be used in treating a wide range of soil types. Therefore the application fields of jet grouting are rapidly increasing. The thesis covers the historical, theoretical and practical background of jet grouting technique. Its definition, development, execution and methods, treatment geometry, operational parameters, design approaches, application fields are involved in the study. The main emphasize in the thesis is given to the strength properties of jet grout columns. The strength properties of jet grout columns is investigated by representing five case studies. The subsoil conditions and foundation engineering evaluations of the investigation areas are represented in the case studies. The strength properties are investigated by referring to the unconfined compressive strength test results of the core samples obtained from jet grouting columns. 129

Uygulama sonuçları ile teorik bilgiler karşılaştırılarak zemin etüdü ve uygulamaların önemi ortaya konmuştur. Başlangıçta zemin etüdü yapılmıştır. Rapor sonuçlarına göre jet grout veya yerinde dökme kazık tekniklerinden biri seçilerek uygulanmıştır. Anadolu Üniversitesi Beden Eğitimi Yüksek Okulu Kapalı Spor Salonu sahasında 6 adet kazık imal edilerek kazık yükleme deneyi yapılmıştır. Kazık yükleme deneyi ve jet grout kolonlarından alınan karotlar üzerinde yapılan deneyler değerlendirilerek yorumlanmıştır.

Jet grout teknolijisi son yıllarda Türkiye'de geniş uygulama alanı bulmuştur. Gerekli olan teknolojiye bir çok yerde ulaşılabilmektedir. Uygulamalar diğer zemin iyileştirme yöntemleri ile kıyaslandığında daha kısa zamanda tamamlanabilmektedir ve maliyetler çok yüksek değildir. Ayrıca jet grout kolonlar yük taşıyan derin temeller olarak da davranabilmektedir. Yöntemin bu yanı, özellikle kolonların yanal yük taşıma kapasitesi üzerinde tartışmaların doğmasına neden olmuştur. Zira kolonlar geleneksel çelik donatılar ile üretilmemektedir. Jet grout uygulamalarının 1999 Marmara Depremi sırasındaki başarılı performansı da uygulamadaki mühendislerin kuşkularım gidermekte yeterli olmamıştır. Bunun başlıca nedeninin üst yapıdan kolonlara yük aktarma mekanizması ve kolonların kinematik yüklere tepkisi hakkındaki yetersiz bilgi olduğu düşünülmektedir. Bu tez, sismik yanal yüklerin bu iki yönünü İzmir ili Bostanlı bölgesindeki bir jet grout uygulaması kapsamında ele almayı hedeflemiştir. Rahatça ulaşılabilen basit analitik ve sayısal yöntemler kullanılmıştır. Jet grout ile radye temel arasına yerleştirilen granüler tabakanın kolonlara aktarılan üst yapı yüklerini azaltmakta oldukça etkili olabileceği bulunmuştur. Zemin-yapı etkileşimi etkilerinin olumlu katkılarıyla atalet yükleri çok daha küçük olabilecektir. Bu konu hakkında daha fazla çalışma yapılmasında yarar vardır. Diğer yandan kinematik etkiler ele alınan zemin profili ve deprem yükü için ihmal edilebilir bulunmuştur. Hesaplanan eğilme momentleri betornarme kazık için hesaplananlar ile karşılaştırıldığında bir çok mertebe daha düşüktür ve bu olumlu davranışa jet grout kolonun esnek malzeme yapısının neden olduğu düşünülmektedir. ABSTRACT Jet grouting technology has been found widespread application in recent years in Turkey. Necessary technology is locally available in most places. Applications can be completed in a relatively less time and the cost is not very high when compared with other alternatives. Besides jet grout columns can also function as load carrying deep foundations. This aspect of the technology has triggered some debates especially over the lateral load carrying capacity of jet grout columns since they are not manufactured with traditional reinforcing steel bars. Reported successful performance of jet grout applications during the 1999 Marmara Earthquake were not enough to avoid suspicions of practicing engineers. Main reason for this is thought to be the insufficient information regarding load transfer mechanism from the superstructure to the column head and response of the columns to kinematical loads. This dissertation has targeted both aspects of seismic lateral loads within the context of a jet grouting application case study in Bostanlı district of the city of Izmir. Simple analytical and numerical methods that are commonly available were used. It was found that capping layer can be quite effective in reducing transferred inertial loads and inertial loads can be much more smaller with the positive contribution of soil-structure interaction effects to column response. Further studies on this subject are considered as feasible. Kinematical effects, on the other hand, were found to be negligible for the studied soil profile and earthquake loading. Calculated bending moments were several magnitudes smaller than those for the reinforced concrete pile and it is thought that flexible soilcrete material is the main cause for this positive behavior. 107

JET GROUTING YÖNTEMİ ÎLE TEMEL TAKVİYESİ Bu yüksek lisans tezi; zeminlerin jet grouting yöntemi ile iyileştirilmesini, temel takviyesi olarak jet grouting yönteminin kullanılmasını ve uygulanmadan örnekler içermektedir. Jet grouting ` yatay ve düşey su jetleri yardımıyla alüvyonel zemini delen, kesen ve yıkayan özel bir delici uç kullanıp ucun geri çekilmesi sırasında yüksek basınçla yatay püskürtme ağızlarından enjeksiyon pompalayıp zeminle karışmasını sağlayan, böylece sağlam ve geçirimsiz kolonlar oluşturan bir teknik` dir [22]; Klasik enjeksiyon yöntemlerinden farklı olarak jet grouting yönteminin uygulanabilirliği imalat yapılacak zeminin dane çapı dağılımına bağlı değildir ve her tür zeminde uygulanabilir. Akışkan jeti olarak sadece enjeksiyonun püskürtüldüğü sistem olan tek akışkanli sistem ile düşük boşluk oranı, düşük permeabilite ve yüksek mukavemete sahip jet grout elemanlar imal edilebilir. Sırasıyla hava+enjeksiyon ve hava+su+enjeksiyon püskürtülen çift akışkanli ve üç akışkanli sistemlerle boşluk oram ve permeabilitesi daha yüksek, mukavemeti ise nispeten daha düşük jet grout elemanlar imal edilir. Çift ve üç akışkanli sistemlerle imal edilen elemanların çapları (yüksek kesme enerjisi sebebiyle) daha büyük olur. Jet grouting yönteminin diğer bazı geleneksel iyileştirme yöntemlerine karşı avantajları şu şekilde sıralanabilir:. Yüksek kesme enerjisi sayesinde jet grouting yöntemi klasik enjeksiyon yöntemlerine göre daha verimli ve ekonomiktir.. Tasarım ve ekipman seçimindeki serbestlik sebebiyle farklı geometri ve Özellikte jet grout elemanlar oluşturulabilir. XII. Jet grout elemanların kalite kontrolü ve performanslannın değerlendirilmesi, klasik enjeksiyona nazaran çok daha verimli olarak gerçekleştirilebilmektedir.. Yöntemde kullanılan enjeksiyon karışımının basit su-çimento karışımı olması sebebiyle, jet grouting yönteminin herhangi bir kirletici etkisi yoktur.. Sadece ~13 cm çapında bir delik açarak büyük geometride zeminin (8~9 m3/m) iyileştirilebilmesı mümkün olmaktadır.. Yöntem hemen her tür zeminde (çok yumuşak zeminlerden kınklı kaya ortamlarına kadar) uygulanabilmektedir.. Jet grout imalatına istenilen derinlikten başlanılabilir ve istenilen derinlikte bitirilebilir. Jet grout elemanların mukavemet ve geçirimlilik özellikleri, kesici jet enerjisi, imalat tekniği, enjeksiyon karışımının nihai mukavemeti, enjeksiyon karışım oranı, doğal zemin özellikleri ve jet grout elemanın homojenliği şeklinde sıralanabilecek faktörlere bağlıdır. Jet grout elemanların etkili yarıçapları zeminin kohezyonunun artması ile azalır, kohezyonun azalması ile de artar. Jet grouting yönteminde imalat hızı, monitörün geri çekme hızına ve monitörün ?f dönme hızına bağlıdır. Tek akışkanlı sistemde monitörün geri çekme hızı 25~30cm/dak, üç akışkanlı sistemde ise 4~7cm/dak arasında değerler almaktadır. Bunun yanında monitör dönme hızı tek akışkanlı sistemde 6~10 devir/dak, üç akışkanlı sistemde ise 3~6 devir/dak arasında yer almaktadır. Monitör geri çekme hızı ve monitör dönme hızının fonksiyonu olan jet grout imalat hızı, klasik enjeksiyonun yaklaşık 10 katı, çimento tüketimi ise klasik enjeksiyonun yaklaşık iki katıdır. Jet grouting yönteminde kullanılan enjeksiyon karışımının su/çimento oram genellikle 0.80~1.50 arasında olmaktadır. Jet grout elemanların permeabilitesi ise genellikle 10*8 m/s'den küçük değerler almaktadır. Kil katkılı enjeksiyon karışımlarının kullanılması durumunda ise permeabilite Î0`n~10'9 m/s mertebelerinde değerlere düşmektedir. Ancak benzer koşullarda yapılmış olan uygulamalar bu konuda yol gösterici olabilir. XIV UNDERPINNING BY JET GROUTING METHODS SUMMARY This M.Sc. Thesis studies is included the improvement soils using jet grouting, jet grouting for underpinning and applications. Jet grouting is defines ` technique utilising a special drill bit with horizontal and vertical high speed water jets to excavate alluvial soils and produce hard impervious columns by pumping grout through the horizontal nozzles that jets and mixes with foundation materials and the drill bit is withdrawn [22]. Unlikely to conventional grouting techniques, jet grouting technique is not dependent on the grain size distribution and can be employed in any soil, With the single fluid system in which only grout is jetted to the sou, jet grout columns with less void, lower permeability, higher strength and smaller diameter can be formed than the double or triple fluid systems in which grout+compressed air and grout, water+compressed air are jetted respectively. By double or triple fluid systems, elements with bigger diameter (because of the high erosive energy), lower strength, higher permeability and void ratio are formed. The advantages of jet grouting technique beside the similar conventional improvement techniques can be listed as follows:. Jet grouting is more efficient and economic than the conventional grouting because of its high erosive energy.. Because of the flexibility in design and equipment selection, jet grout elements of different geometry and characteristic can be formed.. Quality control and performance evaluation of jet grout elements is much more effective than conventional grouting. XV. Since the grput used is a simple mixture of cement and water, the technique doesn't have any contamination effect.. A big volume of soil (up to 8-9 m3/m) can be improved with this technique by drilling a small hole of 13 cm. diameter.. Technique can be employed in every kind of soils ranging from very soft deposits to fractured rocks.. Installation can be started from any depth and can be stopped in any depth. Strength and permeability properties of a jet grout elements depends on factors such as erosive jet energy, installation technique, ultimate strength of cement mixture, composition of grout, natural soil properties and jet grout elements homogeneity. The effective radius of a jet grout column decreases as the cohesion of the soil increases and the effective radius increases as the cohesion decreases and coarse material percent increases. In jet grout technique, installation speed depends on monitor withdrawal rate and monitor rotation speed. In single fluid system withdrawal rates are usually between 25~50 cm/min, in triple fluid system withdrawal rates are usually between 4~7 cm/min. On the other hand, monitor, rotation speeds are usually between 6~10 rpm in single fluid systems and 3~6 rpm in triple fluid systems. Jet grout installation speed which is a function of withdrawal rate and rotation speed is generally 10 times of the conventional grouting but the cement consumption is 2 times of the conventional grouting cement consumption. In grouting technique the water/cement ratio of the grout mixtures is generally between 0.80~1.50. Permeability of jet grout elements are generally smaller than 10`8 m/s ( k £ 10`8 m/s). Gerek jet grouting tekniğinin ve gerekse taş kolon tekniğinin temel özellikleri, üretim teknikleri, tasarım esasları, bu tekniklerle üretilen elemanların özellikleri, bu teknikler kullanılarak gerçekleştirilen iyileştirme çalışmalarının sonuçlarının belirlenmesi ve değerlendirilmesine ilişkin detaylı bilgi, geniş bir literatür çalışması ile de desteklenerek sunulmuştur. Thesis, improvement of soft and loose soils using jet grouting and stone columns is studied. Supported by a wide literature research, main properties, construction procedures, design principles, properties of elements formed with these techniques, results of the improvement made by these techniques and their evaluation, for both jet grouting and stone column techniques are subjected. On the other hand, Ford-Otosan İzmit car factory project, in which both of these techniques are utilized, is searched as a case study. At the end of this study, it is concluded that jet grouting and stone column techniques are very efficient and economic techniques for improvement of soft and/or loose soils. YÜKSEK BASINÇLI ENJEKSİYON (JETGROUTING) YÖNTEMİ İLE ZEMİN İYİLEŞTİRİLMESİ ÖZET Bu tez çalışmasında jetgrouting yönteminin uygulanışı, uygulamada kullanılan ekipman ve araçlar, uygulama teknikleri, uygulamanın başarısını belirleyen çalışma parametreleri, iyileştirilmiş zeminin fiziksel özellikleri, yöntemin avantajları, limitleri ve uygulamada dikkat edilmesi gereken hususlar, yöntemin tasarım esasları, uygulamanın kalite kontrolü, yöntemin uygulama alanları ile yöntemin uygulandığı bir vaka çalışması detaylı olarak incelenmiştir. Vaka çalışması olarak, İpekkağıt San.ve Tic. A.Ş.'nin Yalova'nın Tokmakköyü Altınova Mevkii 'nde yeralan fabrika tesisleri içerisinde inşa edilmesi planlanan ilave PM3 yapısının temel zeminini iyileştirmeye yönelik gerçekleştirilen jetgrouting uygulaması, projenin her aşamasında bizzat izlenerek detaylarıyla tez çalışmasına dahil edilmiştir. Proje kapsamında PM3 yapısının zemin ve temel mühendisliği değerlendirmelerine yönelik zemin etüdleri gerçekleştirilmiş olup elde edilen veriler ışığında yapılan analizler neticesinde sözkonusu zeminde oturma problemi ve sıvılaşma potansiyeli belirlenmiştir. Bu durum neticesinde kazıklı temel ve jetgrout kolon uygulaması olarak iki alternatif temel sistemi önerilmiştir. Yapılan maliyet ve zaman analizleri sonucunda jetgrout kolon uygulaması İdare tarafından tercih edilmiştir. Uygulanacak sistem ve çalışma parametreleri belirlenerek ()60cm çaplı, toplam 23,600 m boyunda radye altı, kuşaklama (sıvılaşma potansiyeline karşı) ve test kolonu olmak üzere toplam 2174 adet jetgrout kolon teşkil edilmiştir. Projede tekli jet sistemi uygulanmış olup enjeksiyon basıncı 500-550 bar, tijin geri çekilme hızı 55 cm/dak., tijin dönme hızı 21 devir/dak., enjeksiyon memesi sayısı 2, enjeksiyon memesi çapı 2.0mm, çimento miktarı 450 kg/m3 ve su/çimento=l olarak kullanılmıştır. Uygulamanın kalite kontrolü dört ayrı yöntem ile yapılmıştır. Çap ve düşeylik kontrolü için deneme kazısı yapılmış ve kolonlar belli bir seviyeye kadar açılarakprojede öngörülen çapın sağlanıp sağlanmadığı görülmüştür. Yapılan deneme kazılarında kolon çaplarının 60cm-90cm mertebesinde olduğu belirlenmiştir. Kolonlardan karot numuneleri alınmış ve basınç dayanımları tespit edilmiştir. Elde edilen basınç dayanımları 21.0 kg/cm2 ila 1 13.0 kg/cm2 olarak bulunmuştur. Kolonların yük taşıma kapasitelerinin belirlenmesi için ise beş (5) adet test kolonu üzerinde yükleme deneyleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Yükleme deneylerinde izin verilebilir kolon kapasitesi 60-65 ton olarak bulunmuştur. Son olarak da sözkonusu sahada uygulamadan önce onaltı (16) ve uygulamadan sonra onaltı (16) adet olmak üzere toplam otuziki (32) adet CPT deneyi gerçekleştirilmiştir. CPT deneylerinden elde edilen veriler ışığında, jetgrouting uygulamasının, PM3 yapısının teşkil edileceği alanda mevcut olan kumlu-siltli zemin tabakasını sıkılaştırdığı görülmüştür. Zemin yüzeyine yakın kil tabakasında da jetgrouting uygulamasından sonra yapılan CPT deneylerinde uç mukavemetinin %20-50 oranında arttığı belirlenmiştir. Gerçekleştirilen uygulama sonunda yapılan kontrol ve deney sonuçlarına göre istenilen mukavemet özellikleri ile zemin parametrelerine ulaşıldığı belirlenmiştir. Uygulama 65 gün gibi kısa bir sürede başarılı bir şekilde tamamlanarak gerek maliyet ve gerekse zaman açısından istenilen sonucu sağlamıştır. Jetgrouting yöntemi çok farklı zemin koşullarında ve çok geniş uygulama alanlarında uygulanabilmekte ve gerek maliyet, gerekse zaman açısından diğer zemin iyileştirme yöntemlerine geçerli bir alternatif olmaktadır. Bunun yanında jetgrouting yöntemi ile diğer zemin iyileştirme yöntemleri arasındaki en büyük fark elde edilecek zemin parametreleri ve maliyetin işin başlangıcında tahmin edilebilmesidir. Yöntemde kullanılacak çalışma parametrelerinin seçimi, arazide karşılaşılan zemin koşullarına ve teşkil edilecek kolonların istenilen fiziksel ve mekanik özelliklerine bağlıdır. Yüksek Basınçlı enjeksiyon yönteminin teknik ve ekonomik açıdan başarılı olması, bu yöntemin bağlı olduğu parametrelerin uygun biçimde seçimine bağlıdır. Uygulanacak sistem, teşkil edilmesi istenen kolon çapına göre seçilmelidir. Jetgrouting yönteminde tek ve kesin bir hesap yöntemi oluşturmak mümkün değildir. Dolayısıyla, şantiyelerdeki deneyim sonuçlarının teori ile karşılaştırılması ve değerlendirilmesi bu inşaat metodunun geliştirilmesinde çok önemlidir. XI SOIL IMPROVEMENT BY HIGH PRESSURE GROUT INJECTION (JETGROUTING) SUMMARY In my thesis work, application of jetgrouting, equipment that are used during grouting, application techniques, working parameters affecting the final performance, improved physical properties of the treated subsoil, design concepts, quality control, application fields of jet grouting and a case study is investigated in detail. As a case study, subsoil improvement of İpekkağıt Corporation Factory PM3 Building in the vicinity of Tokmakköyü Altınova region of Yalova city is observed at each stage of application of jetgrouting and all works performed at the site is included in detail in my thesis. In this soil improvement project, subsoil investigation for PM3 building were performed to make foundation engineering evaluations and as a result of the analyses performed by using obtained subsoil data, both liquifaction and settlement potential was determined for the considered region. Consequently, two alternative types of deep foundations with piles or jetgrout columns was recommended as a foundation system for PM3 building. After deciding on the foundation type as jetgrout columns and working parameters, total length of 23,600 m

VI ÖZET Son yıllarda öne çıkan bir zemin iyileştirme yöntemi olan jet grouting çeşitli geoteknik problemler karşısında etkin çözümler sağlamaktadır. Yüksek basınç ve uygulanan teknolojinin avantajları sayesinde çok farklı yapıdaki zeminlerde başarıyla uygulanmaktadır. Bu önemli avantaj nedeniyle yöntem, bir çok mühendislik projesinde farklı amaçlar için kullamlmaktadır. Tez, konuyla ilgili detaylı bir kaynak taramasıyla beraber dört saha uygulamasını sunmaktadır. Yöntemin pratik gelişimi, uygulama sistemleri ve geometrisi, uygulanan zeminin özellikleri, uygulama parametreleri, avantaj ve kısıtlamaları, dizayn yaklaşımları, kalite kontrol çalışmaları ve uygulama sahaları konu edilmiş, gelişen teknolojilerden bahsedilmiştir. Türkiye'de sistemin uygulanması onbeş yıllık bir geçmişe dayanmaktadır. Bugün hızlı bir gelişme eğilimine girildiği söylenebilir. Türkiye'deki uygulamalarla ilgili bir liste de çalışmada yer almıştır. Yöntemin performansı bizzat sahada dört ayrı uygulamanın izlenmesi ile teze dahil edilmiştir. Esas ağırlık, tekniğin proje için uygunluğuna ve kalite kontrolü içeren saha tecrübelerine verilmiştir. İki çalışmada, yük taşıyan jet grout kolonlar ile temel oturmasına karşı zemin iyileştirilmiştir. Üçüncü çalışmada, yüksek yeraltı suyunun temel alanına girmesini önlemek amacıyla cutoff duvar yapılmıştır. Son örnekte ise geniş çaplı kolonlar zeminin sıvılaşma potansiyeline karşı bir enjeksiyon perdesi görevi görmüştür. Sistemin başarısı için etkin kalite kontrol çalışmalarının gerekli olduğu görülmüştür. Jet grouting tüm bu uygulamalarda, teknik avanatajların yam sıra zaman ve maliyet açılarından da optimum çözüm olmuştur. ABSTRACT As a recent soil improvement technique, jet grouting provides effective solutions to many geotechnical and geoenvironmental problems. By means of high-pressure injection and the diverse capabilities of the employed technology, jet grouting offers the possibility of treating a wide range of soil types of different permeabilities and granulometries. Therefore, it is employed in many engineering projects for various purposes. The thesis covers a detailed literature review and four case studies of jet grouting technique. The practical development of jet grouting, execution systems, treatment geometry, treated ground properties, operational parameters, advantages and limitations, design approaches, quality control procedures, application fields, and emerging trends are involved in the study. Jet grouting has the recognition in Turkey for the last fifteen years. Today, there is a rapid growth of the technique, particularly in the last two years. A detailed list of the applications is included. The performance of jet grouting is investigated in the field by presenting four case studies. The main emphasize is given to the selection of the technique and the field experience that mainly involves quality control works. In two of the case studies, jet grout columns having load-bearing capacity were employed against excessive settlement of the foundations. In the third study, jet grout columns were employed as a vertical cutoff to minimize groundwater flow. In the last case, large diameter jet grout columns acted as grout curtain against potential liquefaction of the subsoil. It is observed that intensive quality control works are essential for the success of the treatment. In all four applications, jet grouting was the optimal solution in view of its technical advantages and cost and time effectiveness. 218

The “Terreiro do Trigo” dockyard, at the “Jardim do Tabaco”, was filled in order to allow the construction of the new “Santa Apolonia” Cruise Terminal in Lisbon, at the Tagus River right bank. A load transfer platform (LTP), founded over jet grouting columns, allowed the construction of a 4,2m height embankment, placed over a soft muddy alluvium layer (undrained shear stress lesser than 20kPa) with about 20m of average thickness. Vertical full scale load tests were performed in order to assess the possibility to incorporate the jet grouting columns, reinforced with steel micropiles, as foundation solution for the new Cruise Terminal building. The design criteria of the jet grouting columns, including the quality control and quality assurance, are presented, as well as the main results of the adopted monitoring and survey plan. The main results of the full scale load tests are pointed out. Finally, the technical and economic advantages of the adopted solutions, comparing with some more conventional ones, are presented.
