Pesticides are considered substances of interest and targets of study due to the secondary effects they have on the environment and on human health. The monitoring of pesticide residues is important to trace the possible contamination of the food we consume daily. The objective was to compare two techniques for the validation of spectrophotometry as a detection alternative. Soil, water and chili samples from the states of Aguascalientes, Sinaloa and Tamaulipas were evaluated by high efficiency liquid chromatography and spectrophotometry. The data was compared with the R 3.6 program and the 1.3 Agricolae package. Statistical similarity was observed in the monitored pesticides: Malathion, methamidophos and chlorpyrifos, for which, spectrophotometry is recommended as an alternative detection technique for these; however, for monocrotophos further studies are suggested.
