Background: To adapt the scientific evaluation tool for the confusion evaluation of health rumors and to test this tool to the confusion evaluation of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related health rumors on Chinese online platforms during the outbreak period of COVID-19in China. Methods: The design of our study was systematic evaluation of COVID-19-related health rumors. Retrieved from 7 rumor-repellent platforms, rumors about COVID-19 were collected during the publication from December 1, 2019, to February 6, 2020, and their origins were traced. Researchers evaluated rumors using the confusion evaluation tool in 6 dimensions(creators, evidence selection, evidence evaluation, evidence application, backing and publication platform, conflict of interest). Items were scored using a seven-point Likert scale. The scores were converted into percentages, and the median of rumors from different sources was compared with rank-sum test. Results: Our research included 127 rumors. Scores were converted to percentages, median and interquartile range are used to describe the data. The median score: creators 25.00%(interquartile range, IQR, 16.67-37.50%), evidence selection 27.78% (IQR, 13.89-44.44%),evidence evaluation 33.33% (IQR, 25.00-45.83%), evidence application 36.11% (IQR, 22.22-47.22%), backing and publication platform 8.33% (IQR, 4.17-20.83%), conflict of interest75.00% (IQR, 50.00-83.33%). Almost 40% rumors came from WeChat and the rumors with the lowest scores were concentrated on the WeChat platform. The rumors about prevention methods have relatively lower scores. Conclusion: Most rumors included were not highly confusing for evaluators of this project.WeChat is the "worst-hit area" of COVID-19 related health rumors. More than half rumors focus on the description of prevention methods, which reflects the panic, anxiety and blind conformity of the public under public health emergencies.

Limited understanding exists regarding the associations of traffic-related pollution with depression and anxiety symptoms in individuals residing within low- and middle-income countries. Data for this study were extracted from the Psychology and Behavior Investigation of Chinese Residents (PBICR) survey, implemented between June 20 and August 31, 2023. We determined residential proximity to major roadways through self-reports and evaluated depression symptoms using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), along with anxiety symptoms assessed through the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7). We examined the associations between residential proximity to major roadways and depression and anxiety symptoms using logistic regressions and generalized linear models, while controlling for potential confounding variables. This study comprised a total of 22,723 participants. The adjusted odds ratios (OR) for depression symptoms were 1.34 (95 % confidence interval (CI) 1.20, 1.51), 1.29 (95 % CI 1.17, 1.43), 1.34 (95 % CI 1.20, 1.49), and 1.32 (95 % CI 1.17, 1.49) among individuals residing within <50 m, 50–100 m, 101–200 m, and 201–300 m, respectively, in comparison to those residing >300 m from a major roadway. Individuals residing <50 m, 50–100 m, 101–200 m, and 201–300 m from a major roadway exhibited adjusted OR for anxiety symptoms of 1.49 (95 % CI 1.30, 1.69), 1.21 (95 % CI 1.07, 1.37), 1.38 (95 % CI 1.21, 1.56), and 1.38 (95 % CI 1.20, 1.59), respectively, in contrast to those residing >300 m. This study provides valuable insights into the associations between environmental factors and mental health. Background: Health‐related quality of life (HRQOL) is unequal between countries and regions, and the emphasis on HRQOL of populations of low‐income countries and regions is unprecedented. Objectives: To examine the association between family health and HRQOL among middle‐aged and older adults in rural China, and determine whether this association differs by age, gender and chronic disease subgroup. Methods: Cross‐sectional survey carried out from July to September 2021. The participants were 1059 people aged 46 and over living in rural China. We used the European Quality of Life Five Dimension Five Level (EQ‐5D‐5L) and Family Health Scale‐Short Form (FHS‐SF) to assess health‐related quality of life (HRQOL) and family health, respectively. Results: The mean EQ‐VAS was 75.66, the mean EQ index score was 0.92, and the mean FHS was 37.90 in rural middle‐aged and older adults. After Bonferroni correction, generalised linear regression models showed that FHS was significantly associated with the EQ‐VAS (β = 0.829; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.660 to 0.997; p <.001) and the EQ index score (β = 0.003; 95%CI: 0.001 to 0.004; p <.001). Binary logistic regression models showed that FHS was associated with three dimensions of HRQOL (mobility, self‐care and usual activities) (p <.01). Based on subgroup analyses, the effect of FHS on EQ‐VAS and the EQ index score was significant in three subgroups after Bonferroni correction (p <.01), but the association between FHS and the dimensions of HRQOL differed by age, gender and chronic disease group (p >.01). Conclusions: This study is the first to explore that family health and its dimensions are significant positive predictors of HRQOL among middle‐aged and older adults in rural China. Family‐based measures may have more potential and value because better family health significantly improves HRQOL. Implications for practice: In the health strategy, the government and primary health care workers should include family health as an indicator and assess it before and after the implementation of the strategy. Unhealthy dietary behaviors and body dissatisfaction are becoming increasingly common among college students. Understanding the association between body image flexibility and intermittent fasting is particularly meaningful, especially for medical college students. This study aimed to investigate the association between body image flexibility and intermittent fasting among medical students. We conducted a cross-sectional study with 5138 medical college students at Jitang College of North China University of Science and Technology. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression were used to evaluate the association between body image flexibility and intermittent fasting. Subgroup analysis and interaction tests were further used to examine the possible interaction between body image flexibility and intermittent fasting. In this study, 1329 (25.87%) students had intermittent fasting behavior. After adjustment for confounding factors, there was a negative association between body image flexibility and intermittent fasting (OR = 0.94, 95%CI = 0.93 to 0.95, p < 0.001). A significant interaction between body image flexibility and intermittent fasting was found in gender, academic year, major, and monthly living expenses (p for interaction < 0.05). E-value analysis suggested there was unlikely to be an unmeasured confounding. This association could contribute to the establishment of personalized health intervention strategies and provide recommendations for promoting the physical and mental health of medical students. Background: Mental health problems significantly affect people's well-being and result in a huge health burden. Health literacy and family health are critical to reducing people's mental health problems. However, limited studies have addressed their complex interaction. Thus, this study aims to elucidate the mediating effect of family health on the relationship between health literacy and mental health. Methods: A national cross-sectional study based on multistage random sampling was conducted from July 10 to Sep 15, 2021, in China. Information about the public's health literacy, family health, and the level of three common mental health problems (depression, anxiety, and stress) was collected. A structural equation model (SEM) was applied to explore the mediating effect of family health on the relationship between health literacy and mental health. Results: A total of 11,031 participants were investigated. Approximately 19.93 and 13.57% of participants experienced moderate or severe depressive and anxiety symptoms, respectively. The SEM showed that health literacy was directly associated with mental health, with higher health literacy resulting in lower levels of depression (coefficient: −0.018, p =.049), anxiety (coefficient: −0.040, p <.001), and stress (coefficient: −0.105, p <.001). In addition, family health played a significant mediating effect (p <.001) between health literacy and mental health, contributing to 47.5, 70.9, and 85.1% of the total effect of health literacy on personal stress, anxiety, and depression, respectively. Conclusions: This study revealed that the improvement of health literacy is directly and indirectly associated with less likelihood of people's mental health problems via family health.
