The paper studies the particularities of the educational policies of the Popular Unity. To answer this question, the context has been recreated and the main issues and conflict of these policies are explored. This objective is original because most of the investigations on this regard have studied the logic of the groups that fought to govern the country, have highlighted the differences between the educational projects of past governments or have evidenced the controversies surrounding the Unified National School. The Cybersyn project has lately received increased attention. In this article, we study the local technical antecedents of Stafford Beer's Cybersyn project in Chile, particularly regarding Cybernetics and Systems ideas and local computing and networking developments. We show that the Cybersyn project in Chile was hosted by a rich intellectual environment that understood Cybernetics and Systems ideas; that it found a mature computer community and infrastructure whose high point was the State Computing Enterprise EMCO/ECOM, and an advanced networking experience whose flagship was the automation of the State Bank that involved a pioneering network of teleprocess. The main objective of this paper seeks to argue that the Popular Unity represents an important progress regarding the Mapuche people, by incorporating it into its political program; by furthering the Agrarian Reform which increased the amount of land given to the Mapuche; and by promoting the participation of the Mapuche in the elaboration of Indigenous policies. However, it did have a peasant class bias and also an assimilation component, its extreme institutionalism, perhaps unintentionally, attempted against mapuche's interests. During the seventies, the Italian Workers' Model represented the "most complete" participatory action research (PAR) proposal in the field of workers' health. From Italy, it spread and influenced the struggle for the protection of the workers' health of other national contexts. This paper presents a historical reconstruction of three experiences in implementing the Italian Workers' Model in Chile during the 90s of the last century in three different working places (sectors). These experiences show, on the one hand, the ability of the model to adapt to new contexts and demands and, on the other hand, the problems linked to the practice of non-delegation. The paper intends to be an historiographical contribution to enrich the study and understanding of the Italian Workers' Model and its past success, pointing, at the same time, to rediscover it as a contribution to rethink the current ways in which workers and experts address the occupational health domain. The purpose of this paper is to enrich the analytical record of the process of formation of the political system of the Argentine “Confederation” in the 1850s, from the specificities of San Juan province. We considered variations of San Juan political and economic integration in the national and “transcordillerano” stage. We reveal that the attempts of San Juan authorities to (re)articulated in a long-standing activity as overland trade with Chile, though not always successful, were important both to define provincial political tensions and the gravitation of the province in the political and institutional frame of the “Confederation”. So, we analyzed provincial, regional and international aspects of this process, taking into account the multiplicity of actors, resources, ideas and practices that were involved. This article deals with Huth & Co.'s activities in Chile during the 1820s-1850s. Huth was the only London merchant-banker that decided to go global before 1850, and also the only one to open a branch in Chile. The analysis of how his branches operated should take this into account, yet Huth's activities in Chile have only previously been examined using a bilateral approach to examine the economic relations between Chile and Britain. This situation was mainly due to the fact that the richest collection of primary material on Huth & Co. (the Huth papers at University College London) had been ignored by scholars working on Anglo-Chilean economic relations during the first half of the nineteenth-century. The main focus of this paper is on the information that we were made unaware of due to this restricted investigative approach. Among them are the connections established between Huth's branches in Chile and the USA, Asia, continental Europe and the rest of Latin America; and the important trade in Spanish quicksilver. This paper makes the case for the need to study assessment reform processes from a broader and more complex perspective that takes the historical, ideological and systemic aspects of assessment policies into account. It draws on a larger study to demonstrate how the understanding of Assessment for Learning (AfL) reforms is enriched by such a perspective, taking the Chilean case as an illustrative example. The study draws on polysystems theory as an overarching theoretical tool and on critical discourse analysis and intertextuality as a means to reconstruct the polysystem of assessment reforms. These tools are used to analyse two types of sources: documents from different periods of Chilean history of education where reforms relevant to assessment were carried out, and interviews with policy authorities involved in the AfL reform as well as with teachers from different backgrounds and contexts. This article examines transnational connections among anti-communist women in Brazil, Chile and the United States from the 1960s to the 1980s. It explores the political beliefs and networks upon which these women drew and built in order to promote their role in the overthrow of João Goulart and Salvador Allende and to encourage other women across the Americas to join them in the fight against communism. This paper shows that these women reversed the flow of ideas, served as models for each other and for anti-communist women, and built gendered transnational networks of female anti-communist activists. This article analyzes the role of exploitable nature in the International Exhibition held in Chile in 1875. Based on documentation from the organization and development of the even such as letters, catalogs, newspapers and visitor reports the article examines first, the ways in which the countries' exploitable nature related to agriculture and mining was represented in this event. This paper looks to examine the base upon which objectives and models were exhibited, and at the same time examines how the representation of this nature could imply its denaturalization, by strictly presenting it as rational and almost artificial. Second the article analyzes how some parts of nature represented in the exhibition could have been appropriated, at least provisionally, within national criteria in the Chilean case. In relation to the aforementioned, the article focuses on problems such as the agricultural dimension of the country, the centralization of knowledge about nature and the construction and contrast of "national nature" during the Exhibition. This paper presents the results of an investigation intended to disclose the various forms through which urban space has been produced in Santiago's outer limits. With that purpose in mind, two settlements built by the end of the 1950s were analyzed following Lefebvre's theory of production of space (2013): La Victoria, and San Gregorio. They both constitute appropriate examples of emerging new agents in urban space in Chile during the 1950s, and of their ways of producing urban space in Santiago's periphery, methods whose objective was to gain State recognition as formal urban settlers, a status they aspired to achieve through a fair deal during the process. This article analyses the organisation of the Army of the Andes, created in Mendoza between 1814 and 1817 with the aim of reconquering Chile from the royalists. The first section studies the role of José de San Martín as an informal arbiter in Bernardo O'Higgins’ dispute with José Miguel Carrera. The aim is to explain why San Martín decided to support O'Higgins, and the immediate consequences of this alliance. The second section addresses the main characteristics of the Army of the Andes and the process of militarisation experienced by the local inhabitants. Everyday life in Mendoza became inseparable from the needs of the revolutionary army. The paper then considers the so-called guerra de zapa and the participation of irregular agents. The involvement of spies and guerrilla officers in the revolution increased as warfare intensified. The final section analyses the crossing of the cordillera by the insurgents and the revolutionary triumph of 12 February 1817 at Chacabuco. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

This paper discuss the civil-military dictatorship in Chile focusing on its first phase, from September 11 to December 31, 1973, a period considered as its consolidation by both the "Informe de la Comisión Nacional de Verdad y Reconciliación - Informe Rettig" in 1998, and by the "Informe Valech - Comisión Nacional sobre Prisión Política e Tortura" in 2003. In this period, we will analyze coup d'État on 11 September, 1973, pointing out its consequences in legal and institutional framework with the establishment of the military junta government. The paper analyzes the history of João Carlos Garcia Bona in Popular Revolutionary Vanguard (VPR) and the persecution suffered in Brazil and Chile, countries that have experienced coups in 1964 and 1973, respectively. Thus, he was imprisoned and tortured at the Department of Political and Social Order (DOPS) in Porto Alegre and released in 1971, when went to Chile along with 69 other political prisoners exchanged by the Swiss ambassador kidnapped by VPR. In Chile, took part in the government of the socialist President Salvador Allende until he was deposed in 1973. The coups in those countries, even keeping particularities among themselves, marked the beginning of a phase where security agencies have used violent methods to stop and immobilize individuals considered "internal enemies" that characterized the application of the terrorism of state (TDE). This paper deals with historical memory in Chile from a theoretical life course perspective. For this purpose, the topic is conceptualized on the basis of a collective and historical generation component concerning the memory of different age groups in the six municipalities of the metropolitan area of Concepción (Chile). The information was gathered by means of a standardized questionnaire, and the sample comprised individuals spread across five different age groups. The results show a memory of recent history centered on national events for the whole sample, incorporating supranational elements among younger cohorts.
