In this chapter, researches focusing on the synthesis, structural characterization and activity of different classes of biomolecules are reported. The covered topics range from the synthesis of new amino acids and foldamers to the structural and functional analysis of proteins, the preparation and characterization of nanosystems for drug delivery applications, the molecular bases of antibiotic resistance spread in Gram-positive bacteria and the study of topology and microstructure of tissues and cells. To this goal, different experimental and computational techniques are exploited, such as biomolecular assays, molecular dynamics, X-ray scattering and IR spectroscopy.
