Abstract

The importance of nonconserved residues on the central b-strand bundle region for the interaction of neutrophin-3 (NT-3) with nerve growth factor-based receptor (NGF) trkC as well as the different mechanisms that determine specificity in NT-3/trkC and GF/trkA ligand/receptor pairing were analyzed by using NGF variants that bind to trkC obtained through mutagenesis and recombinant dna manipulation. It was found that tkrC uses two sites to discriminate between the various neutrotrophins.

Abstract

The existence of subtypes of the neurotensin receptor in brain and peripheral tissues is studied. Recent studies involving the neurotensin receptor antagonist SR48692 have indicated the existence of subtypes of the neurotensin receptor. It has been found that SR48692 inhibits the binding of neurotensin to the cloned neurotensin receptor, and antagonizes neurotensin responses mediated through this receptor.
