Purpose: This study was aimed to evaluate the site-specific drug delivery of 5-FU with chitosan (CS) as a carrier and quercetin (Qu) against induced colon cancer in Wistar rats. Methods: Cross-linked CS-Qu nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared by ionotropic gelation method. Physicochemical characterization of NPs was performed by Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering (DLS), in vitro drug release, and drug loading efficiency (LE). 1, 2-Dimethylhydrazine (DMH) and dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) were applied to induce adenocarcinoma tumors on inbred male Wistar rats’ colon. The treatment group of rats was administered through enema with NPs dispersion. Hematoxylin and eosin staining were performed to the histopathological examination of tumors. Results: Zeta potential and particle size for NPs were +53.5 ± 5 mV and 179 ± 28 nm, respectively. About 96% Qu LE was obtained with a maximum release of 5.63 ±1.59% and 4.62 ± 1.33% after 24 hours in PB solution with pH values of 6 and 7.4, respectively. The numbers of 8 to 21 tumors were observed in all rats administered with DMH and DSS. Significantly decreasing of microvascular density and mitosis count was detected in the treatment group in comparison with cancerous group (P = 0.032 for the former compared to P = 0.016 for the later), respectively. Furthermore, the treatment group showed a high apoptosis rate (P = 0.038). Conclusion: The developed Qu-loaded CS NPs were good candidates for site-specific and sustained drug release in enema treatment. Decreasing of microvascular density and mitosis count, along with increasing the apoptosis percent in the treatment group proved that the NPs could have promising results in site-specific and sustained drug delivery against colorectal cancer.

The purpose of this paper is manufacturing Nanoencapsulated PCM (NPCM) products for use in gypsum wallapplications as thermal energy storage material, with the aim of expanding in use from butyl palmitate in polystyrene-co-methyl methacrylate shells which shows good energy storage capacity. This type of Nanoencapsules synthesis had not been previously described in literature, nor patented. PCM (butyl palmitate) can be encapsulated successfully by these processes and in the form of core–shell structure with use of different stirring rates and hybridized suspension agents. SEM nanographs of Nanoencapsulated NPCMs show that spherical Nanocapsules were obtained with a narrow Particle Size Distribution (PSD) 0–150 nm, which are proper for use in combination of gypsum. Our tests and synthesis results on the basis of thermal storage study of Nano-encapsulated butyl palmitate by suspension like polymerization process show high encapsulation efficiency with proper thermal energy storage capacity in gypsum walls.

In this work, physical adsorption was used for immobilization of proline dehydrogenase onto a magnetic mesoporous silica nanomaterial. The immobilization and electrocatalytical activity of proline dehydrogenase entrapped in a magnetic mesoporous silica nanomaterial was studied using cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, and square wave voltammetry. The magnetic mesoporous silica networks having a high surface area (362 m2 g−1) exhibited excellent properties for entrapment of proline dehydrogenase. The applied approach led to better resistance to temperature and pH inactivation in comparison to the free enzyme. The electrocatalytic current response of proline dehydrogenase entrapped in a magnetic mesoporous silica nanomaterial toward oxidation of L-proline was maintained in the analytical solution temperature up to 70 °C. The entrapped proline dehydrogenase was casted onto a polycysteine-modified glassy carbon electrode. The electrode was evaluated as an electrochemical biosensor for electrooxidation and determination of L-proline in phosphate buffer solution. A cyclic voltammetry study indicated that the oxidation process of proline is irreversible and is diffusion controlled. The electrochemical behavior was further exploited as a sensitive detection scheme for L-proline determination by differential-pulse voltammetry. Under optimized conditions, the concentration range and detection limit were 0.01–0.15 μM and 0.006 μM, respectively. The method was applied to the assay of L-proline in whole blood and normal and malignant cell line lysates (normal cell (L929); gastric cancer cell-CAT 3, colon cancer cell-HCT, colon cancer cell-SW, and breast cancer cell-MCF7).

By using spectrophotometric and potentiometric techniques the formation constants of the species formed in the systems H++Mo(VI)+nitrilotriacetic acid and H++nitrilotriacetic acid have been determined in aqueous solutions of propanol at 25 °C and constant ionic strength 0.1 mol·dm−3 sodium perchlorate. The composition of the complex was determined by the continuous variation method. It was shown that molybdenum(VI) forms a mononuclear 1:1 complex with nitrilotriacetic acid of the type MoO3L−3 at −lg[H+]=5.8. The formation constants in various media were analyzed in terms of Kamlet and Taft's parameters. Linear relationships were observed when lg KS was plotted versus p*. Finally, the results were discussed in terms of the effect of solvent on complexation.
