It is demonstrated for the first time in this report that chinomethionate is capable of causing efficient DNA cleavage under mild irradiation conditions, a fungicide molecule that processes the simple group of 1,3-dithio-2-one as its reactive functionality.

キノメチオナートの光分解を保進するナス葉中に含まれる物質を同定し, その特性について検討した. 光分解促進物質はオレイン酸等の不飽和脂肪酸で, これらの活性は不飽和結合に起因し, 不飽和脂肪酸部位を有する界面活性剤, 油脂等も同様の活性を示した. 二重結合を1個有する直鎖不飽和脂肪酸では炭素数が少なくなるほど, また不飽和結合がカルボキシル基から離れるほど活性が大きい傾向を示し, 同一脂肪酸では, シス体がトランス体に比べはるかに強い活性を示した. また, 他の農薬に対するオレイン酸の光分解促進効果を検討したところ, アニラジン, クロメトキシニル, クロルニトロフェン, クロロタロニル, ジクロゾリン, ジゴホルおよびプロシミドンに対しても有効であった.

SUMMARYThree methods of applying four fungicides were tested for controlling powdery mildew on roses. Best results were obtained by air blast application, with high-volume sprays providing better control than low-volume sprays. The former, unassisted by air blast, failed to give adequate control. Fluorescent tracers showed that performance of various modes of application depended on their ability to provide a satisfactory fungicide deposit on the lower leaf surface, which was particularly susceptible to the disease.

Campylomma verbasci (Meyer) overwinters as an egg on apple, pear, Rosa spp., and Amelanchier sp. On pear, the chief prey are eggs and nymphs of Psylla pyricola Forster and all stages of Panonychus ulmi (Koch). C. verbasci is partially phytophagous but prolonged feeding by nymphs on pear fruits caused no injury. During the summer, C. verbasci lives and reproduces as a predator–phytophage on a number of herbaceous plants. Three, possibly four, generations occur in the southern interior of British Columbia. The effects on C. verbasci populations of a number of pesticides applied to pear trees are reported.

Tetraldifon was applied to I-acre forage plots at rates of 0.01, 0.1, 0.25, 0.5, and 1.0 pounds per acre, oxythioquinox was applied at rates of 0.25 and 0.5 pound per acre. Residue samples were taken weekly throughout the growing Season. Analyses were completed by gas chromatography. Substantial residues of tetradifon persisted 93 days after initial treatment. Oxythioquinox residues from the 0.25-pound-per-acre treatment dropped below the detectable range at 50 days.
