This article explores the functionalization of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) through covalent chemical transformations. The authors focus on the Prato reaction and the use of azomethine ylides as intermediates. They investigate different reaction conditions and heating methods to optimize the process. The study also examines the application of an iridium-supported catalyst for the reduction of acetophenone. The findings provide valuable insights into the potential applications of SWCNTs in electronics, biosensors, energy storage, and medicine. Additionally, the study discusses the use of imino esters for functionalizing SWCNTs and the successful preparation of a heterogeneous catalyst using the functionalized SWCNTs as a metal support.
