Questa tesi di laurea si occupa della caratterizzazione dei personaggi femminili nelle commedie di Carlo Goldoni. Le tre commedie scelte per l’analisi sono: La donna vendicativa, Il vecchio bizzarro e La donna sola. Con le scene dalla vita quotidiana Goldoni cerca di mostrare la situazione nella società e la posizione delle donne. L’obbiettivo della tesi è mostrare i diversi caratteri dei personaggi femminili le quali, sebbene diverse, tutte vogliono l’amore. Con la loro caratterizzazione si mostra quanto sono diverse e quanto ne li fa unici. Alla discussione sui caratteri femminili, precedono le analisi drammatiche delle suddette commedie che facilitano la lettura e la comprensione. Goldoni kroz prikaz scena iz svakodnevnog života pokušava dati sliku stanja u društvu te prikazati položaj žena. Cilj rada je prikazati različite karaktere ženskih likova koje, iako različite, sve žele ljubav. Njihovom karakterizacijom se prikazuje koliko su jedna od druge različite i koliko ih to čini posebnima. Prije karakterizacije ženskih protagonistkinja nudi se dramska analiza pojedine komedije kako bi se dobio cjeloviti uvid u navedene tri komedije.. This master thesis deals with the characterization of female characters in the comedies of Carlo Goldoni. Three comedies are chosen for the analysis: La donna vendicativa, Il vecchio bizzarro and La donna sola. Goldoni is trying to show the real state of society and the position of women through the scenes from everyday life. The aim of this thesis is to show different personalities of female characters who, even though are different still are focused on love. Their characterization shows how much their differences make them special. Every comedy is analyzed as the introduction into the female characterization.

Die Darstellung des Raums in Herondas’ Hinkiamben ist in der Forschung oft untersucht worden. Sie ist für die schwierige Frage der Aufführungspraxis ebenso bedeutsam wie für die Charakterisierung der in den Gedichten aufretenden Personen. Dieser Beitrag zeigt, dass der Übergang zwischen öffentlichem und privatem Raum, zwischen Innenraum und Außenwelt, nicht nur für den ersten Mimiambus wichtig ist, wo das Phänomen mehrfach von Kommentatoren bemerkt wurde, sondern für alle Mimiamben des Herondas. Raumgrenzen werden auf kunstvolle und stringente Weise zur Unterstützung der Charakterzeichnungen eingesetzt. Eine solche Darstellungstechnik wäre bei einer Aufführung mit wenigen Requisiten oder in einer Rezitation ohne mimische Darstellung besonders effektiv. The presentation of space in Herodas’ poems has received frequent attention in Classical scholarship. It is relevant for the vexed question of the mimes’ performance, but also for the characterization of the people who populate these poems. This article shows that the transition between public and private space, between an interior room and the world beyond is a relevant factor not only in the first Mimiamb (where it has occasionally been noted), but in all of Herodas’ mimes. Spatial boundaries are skillfully and consistently employed to support the portrait of the characters. This technique would be particularly effective in a performance with few props or even when recited without a mimic presentation on stage. La représentation de l’espace dans les poèmes d’Hérondas a fait l’objet d’une attention particulière dans la recherche. Elle est pertinente pour la question épineuse de la « performance » des mimes, mais aussi pour la caractérisation des personnages qui peuplent ces poèmes. Cet article montre que la transition entre l’espace public et l’espace privé, entre l’intérieur et l’extérieur, est un facteur pertinent non seulement dans le premier Mimiambe (où elle a été parfois notée), mais dans tous les mimes d’Hérondas. Les limites spatiales sont utilisées de manière habile et cohérente pour soutenir le portrait des personnages. Cette technique serait particulièrement efficace dans une performance avec peu d’accessoires ou même dans une simple récitation sans présentation mimique sur scène. È centrale per la tormentata questione dell’esecuzione dei mimi ma anche per la caratterizzazione delle figure che animano questi testi. Questo articolo mostra che il passaggio fra spazio pubblico e private, fra una stanza all’interno e il mondo al di fuori di essa è un fattore rilevante non solo nel primo Mimiambo (dove è stato talvolta evidenziato) ma in tutti i componimenti di Eroda. I limiti spaziali sono sapientemente e coerentemente impiegati per definire i personaggi. Questa tecnica sarebbe particolarmente efficace in una performance con pochi oggetti scenici a disposizione o anche nel caso in cui i testi fossero recitati sulla scena senza un accompagnamento mimico.

International audience; Recent editors of Plato's Cratylus have corrected the form ἐν τοῖς μεγίστοις μέγιστον, transmitted for the text of Cratylus' remark at 427e5-7, in ἐν τοῖς μέγιστον, on the sole basis of the codex Marcianus Graecus 186. Not only this emendation is not necessary, but probably wrong, as it may reflect a scribal error in the Marcianus. The bombastic designation of the subject of enquiry as «greatest among the greatest» has a precise role in the stylistic characterisation of Cratylus' speech and is in tune with the rest of the passage, rich in poetic quotations and allusions. The double superlative polyptoton is in fact a stylistic mark of elevated and poetic diction, as shown by parallels in Plato's Symposium (195e7-8), in Gorgias and in Sophocles.

The study is organized into two main topics: a) the qualitative/quantitative characterization of natural substances in plant extracts, and b) biocatalytic transformations of natural substances through immobilized enzymes. Regarding the first topic, the main phenolic components of a large panel of plant extracts, provided by Aboca S.p.a., have been characterized in detail by applying GC-MS, LC-MS and NMR techniques. The knowledge of the structure of bioactive components in plant extracts is an important topic related to cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications, as well as for the certification of quality processes. In fact, the biological activity of vegetable extracts is strictly connected to integrity and complexity of the original chemical composition. In this system, any substances with its specific activity can contribute to total activity in a synergistic way with the others. This work is part of a series of pharmaceutical analysis and controls necessary for the use of a plant extract as phytochemical. Regarding the second topic, the study of biocatalytic transformation of natural substance is related to the use of enzymatic processes within industries in pharmaceutical, fine chemical, fuel and biosensor applications. Different immobilization procedures have been reported to improve the stability of the enzyme. In this context, novel nano-structured materials are gradually emerging as promising supports for immobilization, mainly due to their high surface area, high loading capacity, poor resistance to mass transfer and favourable physical and chemical properties. The aim of this work is to design and characterize biocatalysts based on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and to apply such systems in synthetic transformations. The attention was directed to laccase from Trametes versicolor and the immobilization techniques included physical methods, covalent bond linkage and the Layer by Layer technique. In the presence of redox mediators, such as TEMPO, the novel biocatalysts were selective and efficient systems for the synthesis of aldehydes in high yield and under mild experimental conditions, with better results than those previously obtained with other immobilized laccases. Lo studio è organizzato in due argomenti principali: a) caratterizzazione qualitativa/quantitativa di sostanze naturali in estratti vegetali, e b) trasformazione biocatalitica di sostanze naturali attraverso enzimi immobilizzati. Riguardo il primo argomento, i composti fenolici principali di estratti vegetali, forniti dalla società Aboca S.p.a., sono stati caratterizzati in dettaglio attraverso le tecniche di GC-MS, LC-MS e NMR. La conoscenza della struttura dei componenti bioattivi negli estratti vegetali è un’importante tema collegato ad applicazioni cosmetiche e farmaceutiche, come per la certificazione dei processi di qualità. Infatti, l’attività biologica egli estratti vegetali è strettamente connessa all’integrità e complessità della composizione chimica originale. In questo sistema, ogni sostanza con la sua specifica attività può contribuire all’attività totale in modo sinergico con le altre. Questo lavoro è parte di una serie di analisi farmaceutiche e controlli necessari per l’uso di estratti vegetali come fitofarmaci. Riguardo il secondo argomento, lo studio delle trasformazioni biocatalitiche di sostanze naturali è relativo all’uso di processi enzimatici nelle industrie farmaceutiche, chimiche, dei carburanti e applicazioni in biosensoristica. Sono state riportate differenti procedure di immobilizzazione per migliorare la stabilità dell’enzima. In questo contesto, nuovi materiali nano-strutturati stanno gradualmente emergendo come promettenti supporti per l’immobilizzazione, principalmente per la grande area di superficie, alta capacità di carico, scarsa resistenza al trasferimento di massa e proprietà fisiche e chimiche favorevoli. Lo scopo di questo lavoro è progettare e caratterizzare biocatalizzatori basati su nanotubi di carbonio (CNTs) e applicare tali sistemi in trasformazioni sintetiche. L’attenzione è stata diretta alla laccasi da Trametes versicolor e le tecniche di immobilizzazione includono metodi fisici, legami covalenti e tecnica Layer by Layer. In presenza di mediatori redox, come il TEMPO, i nuovi biocatalizzatori sono sistemi selettivi ed efficienti per la sintesi di aldeidi con un’alta resa e sotto condizioni sperimentali blande, con miglior risultati di quelli precedentemente ottenuti con altre laccasi immobilizzate. The project of my PhD course has been focused on the characterization of glycoconjugate vaccines to develop a largely applicable methodology to identify their glycosylation sites. The saccharide antigens are covalently attached to the carrier protein by a spacer or using specific functionalities available in both components. The general analytical strategy has involved a tryptic digestion and an enzymatic or acid hydrolysis of carbohydrate antigens in glycoconjugates. The resulting mixture of peptides and glycopeptides with well-defined mass increment has been analyzed by liquid chromatography interfaced with a mass spectrometer (LC-MS) technique to qualitatively understand which lysine residues have been involved in the glycosylation process. Several conjugate vaccines against Candida albicans, Group A Streptococcus (GAS), Group B Streptococcus (GBS) and Neisseria meningitidis group A (MenA) have been analyzed to estimate the distribution of glycosylated lysine residues. Among those, GBS resulted the less glycosylated in comparison to Candida and MenA ones. This aspect it is probably due to the different conjugation chemistries and GBS polysaccharide size. The second part of my PhD project has been the synthesis of two β(1,3)-glucans antigens, a trisaccharide and a hexasaccharide and their conjugation to CRM197. The hexasaccharide has also been linked on a multimeric structure PAMAM4 and then conjugated to CRM197. The last part of this work has been the conjugation to CRM197 of a modified MenB LPS, provided from Institute of Biological Science (IBS) laboratory (National Research Council - Ottawa Canada). The target sites of the carrier protein (CRM197) and LPS have been activated by two different reactans, and the final glycoconjugate has been obtained by the reaction of these two. The resulting conjugate has been characterized (saccharide and protein content, MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and NMR) using an accurate analytical panel.
