The article presents a case study of a 63-year-old woman who was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. Topics include the association of dietary hyperoxaluria to the development of chronic kidney disease, importance of bioavailability of oxalate, and treatment of the disease by reducing oxalate absorption in the gut through an adequate calcium intake and avoiding foods rich in oxalate such as cashews.
