Abstract

Analysis of the central effects of mineralocorticoid antagonist RU-28318 on the blood pressure of deoxycorticosterone (DOCA)-salt hypertensive rats shows that the antagonist-induced blockade of mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) diminishes blood pressure during the development of the DOCA-salt hypertension. Hence the central aldosterone MR sites are crucial for the development of hypertension. MR activity influences basal arterial pressure levels during circadian changes.
