Abstract

The article discusses the detection of Piscine myocarditis virus in corkwing wrasse and ballan wrasse. Wrasse species and lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus L.) are employed as a biological control for sea lice on Atlantic salmon farms, with the wrasse having been wild caught around the farm and stored continuously as available. A clinical and post-mortem examination of all fishes was conducted.

Abstract

The article discusses a study of cardiomyopathy syndrome (CMS) in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) in Ireland. It says that diffuse severe cardiomyopathy of the heart ventricles and multifocal liver necrosis in all sample fish were revealed through histopathology. Additionally, CMS is a severe disease that affects the heart of the infected fish.
