In this article the author discusses aspects involved in the telling of personal stories of cancer and cancer victims. The piece is written in light of the publication elsewhere in this issue of the journal of the text of Brian Lobel's one person show "BALL," that tells of his battle with testicular cancer. The author examines Lobel's construction and performance of "BALL" from four points of view, those of credibility, authenticity, accountability and accessibility. Lobel's story of his cancer is contrasted with tale of cancer survival told by Lance Armstrong, a champion cyclist.
